With only a handful of men the group of Roman soldiers looks pretty intimidating. I can only imagine how terrified enemies were at the sight of thousands of Roman solders all marching down on them.

1:40, is that the wedge formation. i thought that was only used by cavalries. what was the advantage of wedge formation?? ^_^

If there was more than one wedge, you could force the enemy infantry in between the wedges and attack them from both sides. It is what was used against Boudica, ending in a great ROman victory.

romeans were great tacticions, but every time they met new enemy the first battle was always lost for romeans, but they were learning from mistakes very quickly... Spartans were the biggest badasses :P
