  • "You spin my head right round right round"

  • @amthomas0412 No but really I wish they would stop closing places like this it breaks my heart.

  • this is cool man- I lived at this place when i was a kid

  • I remember. I remember.

  • to bad now it's all torn down and is now all housing :(

  • I saw a video recently of the new condos there. They look nice around the lake.

  • Great Listing

    So Sad it is gone.

  • Its a shame. That coaster didn't look to far gone to restore. Another great wood coaster bites the dust for some lame condo to be built.

  • Are the condos being built there now?Would like to see a new pix.

  • i miss this place so much its so sad driving by seeing it gone

  • Nice vid but too sad to watch more than once.

  • like the cycle of life one must be born and one must die but the memories remain in our hearts and minds of all the great parks in the past

  • I remember I used to go to there and I remember crying because I didn't want to leave : P

  • is it true whalom park is reopening in 2011 and i assume theyd have a bunch of new rides because they destroyed everything i heard?

  • Everything is gone. Condos are going up.

  • @00mundercover

I'm afraid not. Whalom will never reopen. Condominiums have already gone up, and everything was destoryed. (The building that the carousel was in is a national landmark, so they can't tear it down. And the train, and some track, from the Flyer Comet still remain to give entertainment and memories to Fitchburg.

    Sorry, but Whalom is gone.

  • @SonicLOVA55 What did they do with the Carousel?Where is that building that has the carousel?

  • @HattieLovesCattie , The owners of the property now are not allowed to do anything with it because it has been made a national landmark. The Carousel itself has been dismanteled and auctioned off, but the building it was housed in was there when Whalom opened. That building became famous because of just one ride, and now, the building is a museum celebrating the history of Whalom Park.

  • @SonicLOVA55 Interesting. So the owners can't build any more condos? How many have been built so far? I know from reading on YT that the land sat vacant for a long time before the condos were built.About 4 years ago, hubby and I visited a carousel musuem in Sandusky, down the street from the entrance to Cedar Point.

  • @HattieLovesCattie, No, they can, they're just not allowed to demolish the Carousel building, if they did, they'd probably be sued for it.

And also, I've been to that Carousel museum before. It was very fun, next day I went to CP. I believe that they had some parts of the Carousel from Whalom, I can't be sure...

  • @SonicLOVA55 My younger daughter and her friend went to CP ten or 12 years ago and loved itThe friend's family were orignally from Toledo. There is no way you can ride all the coasters coz of the long lines. We were only driving thru there on vacation 5 years ago so no time to go into CP but we did drive up to the entrance.I really want to go to Knoebels in Pa.I enjoyed Hershey last April but the rides were not open.Loved the zoo!!!!

  • @HattieLovesCattie , I went to CP last year, and we had a VIP tour so we got to skip lines. Although the VIP tour is 400 bucks a person, its so worth it.

  • @SonicLOVA55 $400??!! Only if you're rich.I'm no way poor but won't pay that much to " skip lines".

  • @HattieLovesCattie , Nah, we aint rich. And its not just skipping lines, you get a 30% discount on EVERYTHING you purchase at the park! IT'S WORTH IT! IT IS!!

  • @SonicLOVA55 I guess it makes sense. As for Knoebels in Pa.,admission to the park is free but the rides and food aren't.:)I live between Kings Dominion in Richmond and Carowinds in Charlotte.

  • This is actually painful to look at. Whalom was a big part of the life of a kid from Leominster back in the day.

  • popsnacks, i agree, they should have. but now its all torn down :( this was the best amusment park ever, i miss it so much

  • wow I love whalom park i dont know what but i admire wooden roller coaster weeeeeeeeeee!!!! =)

  • this place was great but it couldn't stay alive with the new parks out, like six flags and cedar point But i still love the new parks no matter what any body says

  • Like wow, man.

  • Yeah it's a shame, it lived a long life, 1893-2000. But it wouldn't be able to support it's self with super parks like Six Flags now-a-days.

  • super parks suck donkey balls especally six fags those things are about as good as viagra a 2 hour wait for a 3 min ride it cost like $200 - $400 for a family of 5 where you can spend a lot less $ at a park like this.

I'm somewhat shocked it wouldn't have reopened in 04 being with the shit economy and gas prices

  • I agree. I think those "super" parks are just too much all around. The money, crowds, etc. It's such a better family experience to have a few great parks like this near by.

  • @ExiledProduction

Not true. There are many small parks still thriving in the age of the superpark.

  • @Scioneer Depends where? Many of the smaller parks are long gone. You can see them here on You Tube. Its sad.

  • This was the first place i visit when i went for vacation to my family house in Leominster from Puerto Rico, it was like 1988 or 1989. Wow i remember whalom park after that i went a few more times and since i was a kid it was fun. Somebody know why whalom park went down?

  • more then likely it suffered the fate of alot of smaller amusement parks and was over powered and out shaddowed by a larger one near by or something, thats usually how it works with theme parks

  • they should move that coaster before its to late

  • that funhouse was the best.

  • I went to Whalom Park literally hundreds of times. Such a dirty shame it's gone. There's a big empty place in my soul every time I see a video or a web page about it. Gonna miss it forever :-(

  • Great Video... Where is this??

  • i love this place, too bad is not there anymore

  • where was the place?

  • I was so sad when my parents told me they closed Whalom down. I basically lived there every summer in the 90's.

    *sigh*

  • no it is not standing. i live in the area and went only 1 time before it closed

  • Comment removed

  • whats the song name? and is any of the park still standing today?

  • The Death of Whalom park is symbolic of our culture.

It was a mom and pop business

Six flags etc. are the Walmart of the industry leaving no room for the Whaloms of the world

    Very sad!

  • Nice vid...pans were a bit fast...but I really liked your vid and the music you selected!

  • if u spun that camera around 1 more time i was gunna puke

  • This is so sad Where was this place at.

Good job Music Film You did a wonderful job

    Good listing

  • it was in lunenburg, massachsuetts i used to live literally right behind it...it was an amzing park

  • and have you noticed that all these parks from a while ago closed and are abandonned now like rocky piont kings castle land paragon park and bensons animal farm it's just sad! ='(

  • why did it close??? please tell me! and why is it just there like no one buys it and does anything its juust like abandonn =( never been here but it's still sad!

  • some asshole did decide to buy it...he bought it, tore it down and is building apartment complexes or condos all over it.. sad

  • really is any of it still standing today. I wanted to buy it when ig et older maybe bring it back

  • I saw on YT that the park is still empty. When did they start building condos?Just recently as the park has been vacant many years.

  • they tore it down for nothing, the deal for the condos fell through, no one is doing anything with the land, it is a vacant lot, there is nothing left but memories.

  • Thanks for the info.I guess the land will sit empty for a long time coz of the economy.:(

  • you should have rode the coaster

  • I rode it in the 90's when it was open.

  • Stopped by in 2003 when everything was still there. Ran into a maintenance guy who was kind enough to let us walk around and photograph. The coaster is featured on the DVD "great old amusement parks".

  • the whip was awesome. Sure your neck hurt for a few days after, but wasn't that half the fun?

  • creepy

  • The sing is so sad. I miss Whalom Park :(

  • whats the song?

  • I know the song but I just can't put my finger on it!

  • I would of laghed my ass off if you got locked up did you ever here of private property?????????

  • Hm.. Did you not read my videos info?

"(Yes I was let inside the park. I did not jump any fences or anything)" I knew the park sitter quit well and was let inside the gates of the park MANY times.

You really think I would risk JAIL for some photos?

  • @CanobieFan thank you so much for posting this amazing video. this really means alot to me being able to watch this. i have so many childhood memories from watching this. so again i would like to thank you

  • You ever hear of spell check? Listen I'm glad you can't spell, cause I "laghed" my ass of at your post.

  • please don't SPIN while you're filming. fucking annoying :D

  • man im still mad that it got closed i live right outside of it

  • is it still intact? i thought it was demolished in 2006

  • last time i checked the black hole caught on fire then eventually they tore it down

  • No there is really nothing left as of 5/08. Just tall grass. the house that was used as a museum for a while. I think if you look closley the train tracks are still there. If they really are going to build cindos they are taking their sweet time.

  • So many developers run out of $.

  • I went to whalom park in the mid 80's.. i miss it.

this and bensons wild animal farm used to make for a most excellent weekend in say 1985.

  • Why was this shut down?

  • Park didnt pay tax or something really lame like that.

  • Oh, okay.. Odd.

  • WHERE WAS THIS

  • Lunenburg, Massachusetts?

  • Yes,It was in Lunenburg,Massachusetts.Zebrina

  • Next time you're panning in circles... GO SLOWER please!!!

  • just so sad to see it ripped apart i was able to get a piece of the track from the coaster man i miss the park

  • Awesome how you used Amethystium!

Too bad no one bothered to save Flyer Comet. I'll forever be a fan of PTC's classics.

  • its a pitty its closed down it looked like fun but i think my sis and a few comments on other videos that said the park was torn down its sad really

  • Yeah. The park was ripped apart last fall after sitting unused for a few years.
