  • 00:42 I thougth my watch was going off XD

  • That man's voice was the late Don LaFontaine - and yes, he was doing movie trailers then. But I guess everyone needs a little extra cash on the side.

  • 12:25 was the 70's 13:37.

  • I want one! They look stylish and retro!

  • I had one of the LED watches, but it didn't have flowers and shit on it. It was tan colored and all plastic. I can't even find one on Ebay, and I'll bet they're worth a ton now.

  • it sweeps like fire!

  • Hey.... What's wrong with wheels and springs?

  • Jesus. 125 dollars in 1978. What is it now? $15 at Wal-Mart?

  • Maybe, but I am thinking it's a favorite at your local flea market.

  • I would say still at least 125$, maybe even more, if it is in a very good condition. Because original LCD or LED-watches from 1970 to about 1980 are already regarded as rare collectors items in 2009.

  • @trunk0070 According to an online inflation calculator, $125 in 1978 is equal to $405 in 2009

  • i have 3 starbursts

  • That man's voice is like warm margarine...

  • @BloodlessCoupe Oh man, that guy's voice just came inside my ear pussy!

  • Nice commercial ! Of course by 1978 the market for LED(press button to see time/red digit) type watches was more or less dead.

  • I didn't know Texas Instruments made watches.

  • FYI Commodore and National Semiconductors also made LED watches in the mid/late '70s.

  • my watch is binary

  • Which PIC did you use?

  • Unfortunately I am not quite cool enough yet to have a home-made binary watch. I got it as a christmas gift, so I don't know what kind of microcontroller is in there. Why do you ask? Have you made, or are you planning on making something like that?

  • I asked just to know. I haven't made any binary watch yet, but I guess a 16F877A is fine to build it.

  • I received a Timex Illusion watch for my 13th birthday. It had LCD hands like the Starburst in this commercial. I lost it years ago. I've been looking for another one like it ever since. Even on eBay they turn up very rarely.

  • My first LCD watch was a TI...I wish I still had it.

Back in the day, I looked down on watches with hands..I referred to them as "tick tocks" and viewed them as "obsolete", lol.

To this day, I still wear a digital watch (G-Shock).
