ahaha are you bionic? you were not riding a bicycle up a hill at 18-25mph. i'm guessing you are a typical cyclist who believes tax paying drivers should get out and push their vehicles. the commercial van driver ovetook a slow moving bicycle travelling up-hill, whats the issue? plus 18-25mph is a very ranged speed perception for a bicycle travelling UP hill. i suggest you end your youtube account and get laid.
As you're the one posting the video and making the claim it is up to you to prove the speed. As for the van's approach it appears to be significantly slower than the car although I do agree he could have given more room when overtaking. That said I did not see any swerving from you on the video so can only assume there was not a near miss. If you wish to report the driver I suggest you contact the company transport division on 02380 719300.
It's probably too late to report the driver now. If you look at one of my other videos you'll see I'm happy to praise good driving. Maybe you can compare the two overtakes and take a view as to which was the right way of doing it. In the meantime this video stays up here as an example of Jewson's driving.
@StroudCyclist - All commercial vehicles have a tachograph so it would not be difficult to find out who the driver was. If you feel you have a genuine complaint then follow it up. The sad thing is that all the responses to this video are in favour of the van driver and not you so maybe it's you that is in the wrong? To say that this is an example of all drivers in Jewson is stretching your point. It is still plainly obvious that the car overtook you at greater speed yet no mention of him/her.

As you are the one posting the video and making the claim it is up to you to prove the speed. With regard to the approach speed of the van in my opinion it is significantly less the the car and does not appear erratic. I do agree that he did not give you as much room as he should have but by the same token I did not detect any adverse swerving from you in the footage. If you want to persue this further I suggest you contact the company transport division on 02380 719300.
Rule 129 of the highway code clearly states "You may cross the line if necessary, provided the road is clear, to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10 mph (16 km/h) or less." So the argument is what speed you were travelling at. There is no camera shot of a speedometer so at best its your word against the drivers.
The speed can be worked out, if you wish. Just go along to the length of road and measure the distance between markings on the road. Check these against timings from the video. If I had been doing less than 10mph I wouldn't have posted the video. I do know what the Highway Code states. It also states that you should give a bicycle as much room as a car. He didn't do that.
Why were you riding in the middle of the bike lane?
Is it a deliberate attempt to cause other people a problem so you then have an excuse to film them trying to negotiate your idiotic and dangerous behaviour and then slate them?
If so, poor show... Selfish cyclists like you ruin it for the majority of us who do things properly and considerately.
it is not illegal to overtake a cyclist on a double white line ! also the car before the jewsons flatbed overtook you on a solid white line for his direction of travel.. im starting to notice a pattern in your filming ! did you used to be a professional driver and lose your liecence ? is that why your being such a dickhead now ? do me one favour. post the film when i find you and knock you off your bike so i can see me laughing when i do it on film thanks. cant wait to see you next
It depends what speed you were doing. If you were indeed doing 18-25mph, then I believe it is indeed illegal for him to overtake at that point.
The law states that you may cross a solid white line to pass a stationary vehicle or slow moving (less than 10mph) cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, provided the road is clear and it is safe to do so. As I didn't hear a massive crash, I can only assume the road was clear, and it would be hard to say it wasn't safe to do so therefore.
As you said. not a lot of traffic in either direction. What would you preffer him to do not cross the whites and come closer to you on your bike.Dude, Get a life. I hardly see that as dangerous. If he narrowly missed a car coming the other way and put you at risk then yeah.. but he didnt. And due to the data protection act. Did you get express permission from the driver to use this video for public viewing. I would hate to see you on the end of a law suit as you seem very up on the law.
You obviously lead a very sad life, cycling around with a camera on your back ! WOW, you are my hero. Let's be honest though, you were not going between 18-25 miles per hour as you were on a bike and appear to be going uphill, you were probably going around 7-10 mph at best..if you are in fact going 25 mph uphill you should have been in the olympics !
Posting a stupid video like this and adding license plate details may well cost somebody their job. You must be so proud.
I fail to see how this is dangerous at all. If he went over the double line, you'd complain about that, also you didn't mention the car coming the other way. I regularly cycle at rush hour past the M4 roundabout near Stonehouse and have for years, and maybe you could join me some time? You'd have an absolute field day.
I don't see the problem with vehicles coming close if there is little room as long as they slow down. I think common sense has to be priority when road cycling.

Bike lane? What bike lane.
If your powers of observation are that poor you'd better stay off the roads.

Another one who doesn't know the law. Sadly there are too many ignorant people like you about on the roads.

Still, I see that meganoli has commented on you above.

He did go over the double line, so so much for your observation.
He approached fast and braked late. He is a 'professional' driver. He had ample opportunity to slow his approach, but didn't.
