this is recorded in with the movie maker, you need to use fraps to show us how it really runs. the movie maker just plays it frame by frame and then puts everything together, so any machine can produce a nice video.

dude vista video drivers won't work on win7.. nvidia had relised drivers for win7..

and it should run better.... cause win7 is more cleaner.. and nothing with dirvers bullshit.. in my case i didn't saw any chnage at all.. not better not worth....

p.s. GTA IV should work most good on XP...

Processor is more important for this game.

More ram on the videocard allows for higher settings.

actually never mind i found the problem. what you should do is to right click the "setup.exe" >>>> properties >>> compatability >>>>select winxp sp2

Right now my GTA4 on Vista is running really bad even on the lowest settings. I would just love to atleast play on 1400 x 900 smooth because having high resolution makes a bigger difference than texture details imo. If I OC my E4300 to start off by 2.4ghz would I see major differnce? Nobody hardly has the E4300 results with this game.

I think I should've gone for the Q6600 instead of my E6750, as it's easy to OC. But I don't dare to OC my E6750, I'm too afraid I might break it or anything. Also, I don't think 3,0 Ghz is not enough for C2D, as this game is the worst optimalized game ever to come out for PC. I really can cry because this still is the best game ever, and then they make this port? They should all be tortured and burned in hell for doing this!

I got an E4300 not E6750. I am not aiming for CPUs that can OC very well because first of all I live in a humid area. I got the E4300 because it was the cheapest I could find. I will definitely get a Quad-Core for my next upgrade.

I have just installed Windows 7 on my computer. I installed GTA4 and i got it to work. But ingame i have a HUGE problem. When im just pressing one button on my keyboard, everything runs as it should. But as soon as i try to turn the car or something (when i press more then one button at the same time) im reciving a freeze lag and i cant do nothing for 5-6sec, and then everything turns normal again until i press more then one button on the keyboard. Do you know any solution?

first of all. your cpu is not powerful enough. get a quad core if you can. phenom is my recommendation. cheap and powerful. i used to use 4600+ x2, got 20 fps with hd 4870. maybe you should upgrade vga too. but cpu first!

Wow! Only 20fps? I have an Intel Core Duo @3Ghz+ 8800GT and I get 38fps on average (all settings on max except textures on medium)!

This proves one more time that this game requires a good CPU rather than a good graphics card! I believe this happens because the physics are not handled by the GPU but by CPU and thats why quadcores are reccomended!

Like that would help ^^ It's something else (this game being really bad optimized, hm?) - I've got an E8600 (3.33Ghz), GF GTX 280, 4gb 1066Mhz DDR2 and the game still runs like crap (gotta run everything at low-medium on 1280x1024 to get 20+fps - and yes, I've tinkered around with every driver, setting, patch etc. etc. etc. without nearly any improvement), this is on Vista however. Gonna try it out on W7 tonight as there seems to be some major bug or bad optimization going on in Vista at least.

With the latest drivers and with the gta4 update installed I'm now getting about 45 fps on average @1680x1050 Vista64 ! :)

Well, I've tinkered around A LOT with BIOS settings, drivers etc. etc. (Working in the computer area makes you check nearly everything ^^) But same results everytime, unfortunately. Fortunately though, W7 solves all issues I've had with it. Running same settings, same drivers (Vista x64 for GPU for example, that's for W7 x64 as well.) Not going back to Vista anytime soon, that's for sure ^^

This Securom error is new. It used to work for me before, just got fcked up a few days ago. So below you find a query to enter google, and download it. This bypasses the Securom check on startup, but does not change anything with Live, or RGSC.

1st: Install RGSC normally, no comp. mode needed.

2nd: Explore GTA4 DVD, and find the Setup.exe in the GTA4 folder. Right-click, then set comp. mode to XP SP2. It will install normally.

3rd: To run the game, run LaunchGTAIV.exe in comp. mode for Windows 2000, to prevent Service Pack errors.

Hi! I have a retail copy, so I don't use any cracks. Just check drivers, and set Launchergtaiv.exe to windows 2000 compatibility mode. That was all for me.
