You could say that if Benoit, Eddie, Davey etc didnt go to the WWE they would have lived. WCW would have buried him.

I believe he was just going through the motions in WWE waiting for his contract to be up, and he was going to retire, but we all know how the story ended.

@fcjeske5 Yeah everybody started in WCW.. Undertaker.. Tripple H.. Stone Cold.. Jake Roberts, Mick Foley.. Chris Jericho, Dean Milenko, Eddie Guerro, Rey Mysterio, Good 'Ol JR, Owen Hart, I mean a lot more than that.. It's crazy. all of them had stints in WCW before WWF/E.

Again, Owen Hart COULD'VE signed a no-complete clause and WWF drop out form to be released from his contract with WWF like Brock Lesnar did. And then Owen could've went to WCW with Bret Hart and debuted there. Maybe Owen Hart should have thought about that instead of asking Vince the asshole sign him out of his contract the original way.

If I had known about it back in 1997 then yes I would have told Owen to sign a no-complete clause to breah his WWF contract so that he could have went to WCW Nitro and Thunder with his brother Bret and still be alive today. If only Vince wouldn't have been such an asshole about, I mean all Owen Hart wanted to do was go to WCW for the last 3 years of his career, don't you agree??

@metamorphosis743 I'll have to find the article. But I read that Owen was ready to retire from wrestling (at least full time) to spend more time with his family. Owen was saving up money, in hopes of leaving wrestling in a few years. Which mean had he signed a no-compete contract to leave WWE, he wouldn't have been able to go to WCW 90. I believe he was just going through the motions in WWE waiting for his contract to be up, and he was going to retire, but we all know how the story ended.

I never knew Owen wrestled in WCW at all. If they had better management, he could have been as huge as Bret . He had more than enough talent and mic skill to be a Horseman, but I don't know if his off screen personality would have mixed. Being a family man and all.

So it's WCW's fault that Batista was a horrible worker and flunked out of the Power Plant? WWE has missed the boat on many stars themselves...so it's not like WCW is the only company to have had future stars start off and not get anywhere in their company.
Chris Benoit worked in both WCW and WWE before he made it big in Japan and ECW... WWE also had Christopher Daniels working dark matches, and Shotgun Saturday Night for months,... Samoa Joe as well worked Metal/Jakked.

But you know something, I'm actually surprised that Eric Bischoff DIDN'T pay the money it would cost for Owen Hart to break his contract with WWF and be released so that he could've went to WCW Nitro and Thunder with his brother Bret! Considering Vince didn't want to pay off Owen's contract, I'm shocked Eric didn't pay the money for Owen to break his WWF contract. Maybe it just wasn't worth it financially for WCW back in the late 90's, so stupid (:

@cashfire2003 Given the chance, I'm sure he would of, it's a shame that he was locked into contract with WWF. I would of loved to see WCW run with the Hart Foundation anti-USA angle, especially as they would of appeared on many southern area shows with WCW, almost guaranteeing a whte-hot reaction. The Hart Foundation of Bret, Owen, Davey Boy, Neidhart, with Benoit taking the place of Pillman....feuding with a babyface faction led by Sting and Flair, culminating in a War Games match. Oh yeah!!

People forget the way he died he did a few times before and was fine.People blame vince but it aint his fault if anyone it people who set up the rope or whatever it was! HOLY $h!t. WCW had Owen Hart too?!?!? So WCW had Steve Austin, The Undertaker, HHH, Mick Foley, Kane, Edge, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Jerry Lynn, Raven AND Owen Hart too but let them all go. Nice thinking WCW. Is there any other future megastar WCW also had but let slip through their fingers? I mean besides Scott Hall & Kevin Nash. WCW let them get away too but treated them w/ more respect when they returned as established stars.

Batista then became one of the biggest stars of the post-Attitude Era and main evented 3 Wrestlemanias. So congrats WCW; yet another future megastar you passed on that could've saved your miserable company. You could've possibly also saved Owen Hart's life by signing him. Bastards.

If WCW had signed him and made him a star, it's possible that he never would've been put into a position to risk his life needlessly in the WWE for a Monday Night war that was pretty much over. And for the record I blame the WWE more for his death than WCW. I also watch TNA more than WWE these days.

@brethart87 lol i'm not even a dude :p & i've done my research OWEN did try out for the wcw before joining what is now wwe but they wanted him to move to atlanta where they're based he wanted to stay here in calgary with his family & friends though he did eventually do some matches with wcw he was never completely with them sad really he might still be here if he had been with wcw?
