Well, I see everyones having the simpsons effect; BSG ended perfectly for me, unlike
the other shows, every major character had their moment (heroic or villainous) and finally finding earth (or new earth) is a satisfying ending after twists galore. Solidified itself as my favorite tv show of the 2000's
"Gald this piece of crap is finally done." If you actually thought it was crap, then you wouldn't watch it, in which case it would make no difference to you no matter when it ended. Troll.
I'm a sci fi addict, and I hoped, episode after episode, that it would ultimately redeem itself. Didn't happen. I pretty much tuned out last season, and the last season proved my decision correct. It just goes to show you, the sheep who post that it was like the second coming, will buy anything, including this shit sandwich.
Odd that you should describe your own comment as a shit sandwich... it wasn't, but NOW it is... sandwiched in between the "bread" of two of my comments.
So, basically, you're saying the only way you'd stop eating a shit sandwich is if someone pried it from your mouth? The only reason you've stopped watching is that the show is over, even though you thought it was that bad? Make a decision and stick with it. If you think it sucks, stop watching. Instead you proclaim its crap, yet watch it every week just in case you're wrong. Very sad.
Smart enough to see through hype involving a poor quality product. Or should I say that to you in your native language of "sheep". Baaaaaaaaaaaa. Baaaaaaaaaaaaa.
I loved the show all the way up till the last hour of the finale. Ugh... Lets all let the last of our technology fly into the sun while we live in a hostile prehistoric planet we know nothing about. Oh, and all other answers... put God in all the gaps. *poof* Where's Kara?
I do like the idea of Galen Tyrol running off to the highlands. Does he father the Clan MacLeod from Highlander. (There can only be one!!) Is the Gaelic language named after him? lol
Yep! It all just was tortured logic, making the viewer unable to suspend disbelief. I go further in saying the whole series was predominantly like this.
I didn't mind all that during the rest of the season...it just didn't pay off. Some of the godly mystery stuff would have been fine if they just mixed in some logical explanations and actions from the characters.
Now I'm paranoid that Lost is going to end like this. Akk!! Nooo! Nightmare.
I think the fact that they didn't come up with some technobabble nonsense to explain away the unexplainable is what made the ending great. What you were hoping for was the cliched ending from a show that was anything but.
I should add there's nothing wrong with a little unsolved mystery, but, to end the whole thing with a big ? is just bad writing.
This could lead to a new series, though... on the thousands of ways all these people died. They couldn't have lasted long in small groups in a new planet with unknown prehistoric predators while killing off the hunter-gatherer they meet with their alien germs.
Not really. Dirk Benedict never came out from under the shadows into the spotlight and said "I am GOD and I did all of this." That is just your interpretation of what happened - there is no definitive answer given either way. The truth is that everything that happened could be chalked up to hallucination, chance, and a highly unlikely series of coincidences.
Just because your interpretation of the ending is cliched doesn't make it so.
Finally, at long last, and end to this mind numbingly depressing TV series, which could have been an uplifting remake of the original, but chose instead to be an urge to suicide to anyone watching it. The characters could never make up their minds whether to be heroes or total bummers. The liberal moral relativism of the whole thing, the constant handwringing of the characters, supported only by a great special effects crew, makes me glad to know I'll never TIVO it again. Glen Larson, you suck.
It was good.... I definitely think season 3 Finale was the best I've seen though. 4 Cylons revealed all at once?! Starbuck coming back?! WOOOAAHHHH. The finale was more like "oh... that's pretty cool"
Loved the ending. Adama came out gay, Tigh and Starbuck married, Apollo set the stage for the Greek god he would one day become. The guest appearance of Chekov from Star Trek was also cool. Wish Gaeta and Baltar had admitted they're lovers.
the remnants of their technology could have been the technology of "atlantis" and they already had "greek" names to begin with ...wasnt that the whole point?
the finale just sucked. plain adn simple. so much more could have been done, and explained. For instance the stage was completely set for Galactica's crew to have been the mythological "greek" gods (ie. "apollo, athena, adama etc..." ) to the tribal people they encountered. But no Ron moore dropped the ball big time.
The writers are clever It's not over. The colony was not confirmed destoryed. Galactica just jumped "The destruction of the colony is up the viewer to decide."
The Cylons appear to the majority of resurrection plans in the end. Their were copies of Cavil on the colony. You just know he had somekind of fail safe plan. The Cylons shall be reborn!
Sorry to disappoint, but it has been confirmed that the colony was destroyed. RDM said in several interviews that the nuclear blasts knocked it out of orbit, and into the singularity. The only reason it wasn't shown was due to editing and run time.
Still, there's always the centurions who went off in the last remaining Base Ship, they could always return to wreak havoc. Anyone else notice the role reversal? Just as humans had to do, a few centurions set off looking for a new home in the end.
Did anyone else notice the similarity between the main Cylon base and a shadow vessel from Babylon 5? A small homage to J Michael Straczynski? Two of the best sci-fi series ever IMHO.
Oops, I wrote wrongly that the Rebel Cylons leave Earth in the Cylon Base Star. I was typing down some highlights & stuff while watching the show on TV. The Centurions are the ones that left Earth to seek their own destiny. The final scene tales place in the present and makes reference to history maybe repeating itself again.
I loved this series... but hated the final episode... they added too much pointless Pre-War information... added a thirteenth Cylon (Daniel) and foolishly expected fans not to make a big deal out of it...
I just could not accept the two Earths being our Earth... The one with the 12 sodiac signs constellations and the one that looks just like ours.
They weren't BOTH our Earth, only the second one was. We made the assumption that the Earth they were looking for was our world, but it wasn't. The "first" Earth was a world where the original Cylon's went thousands of years ago when everyone left Kobol.
Those Cylons eventually had a nuclear war and wiped themselves out, all except the "final five" who then went to the colony worlds only to discover humans had built a new bunch of Cylons and were at war with them.
Don't you remember how they got to the original Earth??? They went to Cobol and found a cave where they saw a hologram of the night sky on earth, which showed the 12 sodiac sign costellations... our 12 sodiac sign constellations... They mapped these costellations to plot the location of Earth.
If they had used a different method to locate Earth, other than using a map of the night sky of our Earth and our costellations, then there would not be this issue.
I just put that down to the stories that would have been passed down through the ages once they'd settled on Earth2.
Imagine humans, long after the crew have passed away, still having the (distorted by then) stories of how they got to Earth. Stories which included the vision in the cave and the zodiac names. So they looked to skies for new constellations they could pin the old names to.
Scotty finally got the new Heisenberg compensator installed along with fresh Di-Lithium crystals silly person! Shields to maximum and arm photon torpedoes.
THE SCHMOES interview Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff PART 1 of 4
Here is part 1. Katee is a fan of the show and was nice enough to come in to the "studio" and shoot the shit with Kristian and Mark. We ask a bunch of BSG questions in part 1 and just goof around.
We want to get this seen- please RATE/COMMENT/SUBSCRIBE!
Love the show ,but too much drama and not enough action. And some of the Lore got a bit thick and ponderous.
Watching the making of (I think) right now and they opened it with a pitch to some producer lady. The one that insisted on a dog in the new series but was over ruled? Well, it's no wonder we have to wade through so much schlock in media with her type calling the shots.
They jumped to Primitive Earth after failed last moment negociations with Cavil and the Cylons. Kara got them there using the song and drawings from Lucy. They start all over in Earth, sending the fleet into the Sun (leaving the modern future behind or is it the past). The Rebel Cylons also get resurrection and leave Earth. Both sides a leap of faith and start over, breaking the cycle. Looks like some variation of the Atlantian legend, so far (I am Watching it right now). Beautiful finale, wow.
The sight of modernized old Cylon Troopers & modern ones facing off against the Rebel Cylons & the Human Galactica forces (Cylon Troopers led by a Rebel Six marching into battle flanked by Human troops is awesome). Adama & Pres. Rosslin are taking off, oh no Starbuck is leaving too now (she ends the show with Lee the same way it started, Lee Pigeon dream represents Starbuck going away I guess). Adama names the planet Earth, as a dream they have chased all along. She just died next to him.
Agreed. There were some fantastic visuals and nice tie ups to the plot threads. The only thing that bothered me was that there were already primitive humans here when the crew arrived. Struck me as pointless to the story since only Hera's descendants make it through to today anyhow.
BTW, Lee promises Kara she'll not be forgotten, reckon that's why we have "Starbucks" coffee shops everywhere now. SOME legacy.
I liked the homage to the old Battlestar Galactica series, as the ships passes over the site of the 1969 Moon landing (which was featured as an errant signal in the original series, final episode of their final storyline season). Also they play the old theme of the original show as the fleet is send into the Sun. Starbuck Coffee as the reminder of the legacy of Kara, hilarious indeed.
These characters have come such a long way and it was important to focus on that fact, to not lose sight of what they have come to be after EVERYTHING that has happened. And to remember who they use to be. That's what last week was about for frak's sake! And that's what the entire show is about in the end: these characters.
They shoulda done more with lucy lawless, she was such a cool cylon, she was sort of the leader of the cylon resistence. But the writer's just left her on Earth to die. i guess that's what writers do when their characters lose their usefulness, kill them off.......#5 and D...Gaeta vice president. At least Gaeta and the VP had a fitting end to their characters/story.
Ha ha ha, the in House Joke at the end is excellent. Hera's remains are found 150,000 years into the future, and are indentified as those of Lucy. Also Six, Baltar and the series creator stand together, and Six bets against Baltar that this time (our time) will not be the same as the past they featured in the series ( Earth was destroyed each time in their past) . The final most touching detail, modern robotic developments mimicking the rise of the Cylons, ha ha ha.
Six bets against Baltar that this time (our time) will not be the same as the past they featured in the series ( Earth was destroyed each time in their past) . That is right our time is the rise of the Planet of the Apes! hahaha
I know, that was either a warning from the series creator about our future options in real life or a sick reversal joke about nothing changing in the series story line. So much about breaking the cycle, ha ha ha.
Look it up in an episode guide idoits!...it's not Daybreak Part 2 thats the final episode its Part 3!!!....the only thing that makes next friday a 2 hour event is that there showing both part 2 and part 3 all simultaneously in one night!!
I think Adama has a good idea sending Galactica out with a bang. For 50 years, the old girl's been beaten, batered, and hammered. With the ship dyin' I say send Galactica out the same way she came in. Guns blazen', Kickin' ass, taken names, and fighting the good fight.
For those whining about part one, you don't watch this series for the right reasons whatsoever, you don't care about integrity of character or story, you just want ships blowing up. Frak you.
LOL I love character driven episodes. The Baltar ones from the first half of season 4 were my favourite ones and in my opinion among the best in the series.
That being said, Part I and the last episode have been utter shit. It was all masturbatory fluff that barely advances the plot and what little it did could have been done in half an episode.
The only people this crap would appeal to are nerdy, obsessive fanbois who could watch an episode consisting of Adama reading to Roslin and changing her diaper for an hour straight and still call it a masterpiece.
For the rest of us, fans, casual viewers or people who just appreciate good TV, the last two episodes were shitty and empty fillers.
Translation: I am a thick, pathetic, undervalued little shithead who chooses never to think beyond my need for popcorn and 'splosions. I am not a thinker, I am a sheep of the system, I will never acheive anything in life, nor will I want to.
Holy crap. This is going to be soo awesome! I have to admit, part 1 was kinda lame, but it was just getting set up for this. I bet a lot of main characters are going to die, like roslin, but this episode is still going to be undescribable

Finally someone with a brain and no sheep mentality. Bravo!
And the Jimi Hendrix ripoff? How lame.
