Nice version of this one. Got to see the man on his solo tour for About Face and was loving watching him play most of the songs off of this album up close and intimate in an opera house. You could see it on his face that he was having a great time.

David Gilmour is one of my favorite rock artists. They just don't make music like this anymore. Music now days doesn't have this kind of soul. He is on my list of top 10 guitarists. Sucks to get old (50) cuz that means my favorite rock stars are too.

I've always been a big rock fan. Back in the day (70's & 80's) it was all about Page, Beck, Clapton, Blackmore etc. I've since gained much more appreciation for the guitarists who were not necessarily forfront. Though Gilmour is pretty much forfront, there's always been an understated presence about him that I really appreciate. Great vid. Thanks for posting.

Have you listened to the On An Island album??? He wrote that album and it is as a whole is better than this album and there are better songs on there than this song. Peaked at #6 on this US charts. I'm not sure this album even made the top 200 Billboard.

Such a great song! Very good video and audio quality here. I hear alot of people say about how Roger Waters is a big deal. I totally disagree. I tried watchin his videos of Pink Floyd songs and they do not compare at all. Gilmour's voice and guitar made Pink Floyd so good, and watchin this video here should show it! There is alot of emotion he conveys through this song.

The video above is David Gilmour in 1978 covering a song written by an American Band called "Unicorn" who recorded a much more folksy version of the song. . . Gilmour produced the Album by Unicorn which contained this song.

Monster Magnet did a cover of the original, much like GIlmour covered it 0ver 30 years ago.

@Zephyesa Actually, Syd Barrett was on only the first couple of LP's of Pink Floyd. David Gilmour was on over twenty years of music by Pink Floyd. I am not saying anything against Syd, I even own a tape of Pipers at the Gates of Dawn, but I think that David Gilmour had emmensely more of a imapact on their music than Syd.

@thancrow If Syd didn't burned his brain, who's to say he wouldn't have done just as well as David Gimour? We'll never know. To say David helped the band more is kind of daft by the fact that he was able to perform when Syd was not.

@rebelspirit1000 Actually, Dave taught Syd a lot of guitar before Floyd. So perhaps, if this or if that may not come into play really. Things have a funny way of working out, and let's face it, Gilmour is the guitar of Pink Floyd. Though Syd was an interesting songwriter, let's face it, his solo material after Floyd pales to Floyd in terms of diversity, variety, innovation, etc. Not to discount Barrett's contributions, but I will never understand the post-Barrett Floyd/Gilmour grudge.
