@ThrashAD720 I know you were, if you took it that way it was a misunderstanding; I was mentioning that in the context of good examples of adding to the conversation. At least that's what I intended, heh, so if it came out wrong please excuse me. You're always great at filling in the gaps we miss.
@Emit79 Really? Wow. Well, I recommend Vs. HBK at WM21, Vs. Samoa Joe at Lockdown 2008, Vs. Mysterio at SummerSlam 02, Vs. Brock at SummerSlam 03, Vs. Eddie Guerrero at WM20 + SummerSlam 04, Vs. him Vs. Big Show Vs. Brock from Vengeance 03, Vs. Sabu from "ECW" in 06, Vs. Randy Orton from One Night Stand 06, Vs. Jarrett from Lockdown 2011, Vs. Kane for the US title from Smackdown in Nov. 2001, Vs. The Rock from No Way Out 01, and Vs. Marty Jannetty from Smackdown in early 05.
@WrestlingRoundtable While I like your list of essential Kurt Angle matches, I have to point out the obvious omission of 2 classics against "He Who We Do Not Speak Of". Their WM 17 & the Royal Rumble 2003 matches are exceptional performances from both men.
It's a shame this show can't get bigger You put time and money and effort into it, but it just doesn't get over as it should considering you have ROH people on from time to time.
@rainb0wexpress Thanks. Glad to know someone feels my pain, heh. I don't know what else we could possibly do! Well, what I mean is, we've done so much I thought would lead to what you're saying, and it just doesn't happen. I don't know what to think about that. But thanks for the sentiment, heh.
Is there an ideal retirement? Answer is yes. Problem is not the actual scenario that is set for the retirement, but, as you touched on, most in wrestling never stay retired. Ric Flair (though I understand due to his $ troubles) is the biggest example of that. Great retirement as far as buildup, match, send off, etc. All that was left was to stay gone.
Great show as always... Eric makes a great point that some of these guys like Jake the Snake could come back for one match, with a lil bit more fanfare and dignity. It would be nostalgic for us, a learning opportunity for the Lil Jimmys, and (dare I say) the right thing to do for guys who busted their arse for so long.
As much as i don't like edge im surprised that he at least wasn't even mentioned considering it's a legit injury that ended his career at such a young age. but also agree about Arn Anderson comments even though he wasn't doing much by the time he actually did retire and the send off was pretty much used to further a storyline with nash and friends
That was great. It would be cool if you had a wrestler on each episode. Delirious was actually making alot of sense but he was just talking too fast to catch most of it. That's a great character and he has skills.
Best retirements: Verne Gagne and Fritz Von Erich. Come on, they both went out as champions. Of course they were both running those organizations and wouldn't have it any other way. I can see Triple H doing that in the future.
I Think Lita was one the worst retirement cause if wasn't that stupid shit of cheating Matt Hardy in Real Life and those Matt Hardy Psychos fans saying shit of her, she would had a better send off in wrestling. Best recent Shawn Michaels in 2010, great way to send off in his final match at Wrestlemania XXVI. Best Trending on twitter in this episode was Jesus Loves Killing Bambi, that was funny. Anyway good episode.
The Japanese retirements for guys like Stan Hansen and Jumbo Tsuruta are cool. They all have the wrestlers surround the ring and have spotlight on the retired wrestler while announcer say there achievements with a piano version of there theme playing.
@megatron818 I got a spot, a spot with the Four Horsemen, not just a spot, not just a liver spot, not spot like your dog spot, no not just any spot but MY SPOT! so i need to know right now do you accept MY SPOT, not their spot, liver spot, dog spot, anybodies spot...MY SPOT to become a Four Horsemen
The only way a wrestler could actually retire is by saving all their money and making good investments. Although I do feel that some of them, like Rocky Balboa, don't know any life outside the ring and feel they need to come back.
@darkpatriot85 If you think Ric Flair is the worst offended, how many "retirement" matches has Terry Funk had in his career already? All Flair did was lie, Funk just kept having "retirement" match after "retirement" match
it's hard to say retirement when they come back (like you said), so I don't think about those. I think about sendoffs/retirements from a paticular company.
I just uploaded highlights if Rick Rude's career ending match. Rick Rude was in process of making a comeback 1999 before he passed...he wanted to return WWF to fued with Austin.
Im always reading about HBK staying retired (like he didn't already retire in 1999 after his back surgery) when he only retired in 2010. Like mentioned in the video Ricky Steamboat wrestled again in 2009 after retiring in 1994...so who is to say within the next 15 years HBK doesn't have one more match?
Ric Flair's stands out for me by a mile, I mean here's a legend of the sport that had a heart felt send off on Raw after his match with Michaels and then he shows up in TNA.
is wwe overbearing on twitter lol undersatment of the year so far...anyway great show guys and jeez someone may wanna make sure delirious didnt just stroke out on ya
HBK's retirement was great, so heartfelt...Flair's was the best ever at the time, even though I knew it wouldn't last
Rude and Steamboat's retirements broke my heart as a kid in '94, as they were both two of my absolute favorites
Japan does retirements very well. I really like Akira Hokuto's retirement match in 2002
