  • HOW???

  • legend.

  • better examples keyword Tiev

  • OZONE SCARED ME AT THE END

  • Youtube needs a damn replay/loop button!!!!!! How the hell else am i meant to learn this sh$* without pressing play all the time.Put a slow mo one whilst you're add it!!!!

  • @elsewherebeats1

I agree! Would make life so much easier. But in the 80s we used to have to rewind, play, rewind, play, rewind, play and watch Turbo's picture quality gradually deteriorate before we'd nailed his moves. The hours wasted trying to copy Turbo, which amounted to nothing!

  • How did they keep that ice from melting?

  • omg!

  • I wish I can dance like him one day

  • whos gonna wipe all that afro sheen of the floor

  • Slidin with electricity!!

  • man shyt it becam to damn hard when he did reverse but no lie my brothe has got so good in this this is exactly what he looks like when he does it but he does want to persue danceing he want to start a clothing line n its going good doe

  • No body and i do mean nobody... til this day can out float shrimp! Micheal came the closest but the man who taught Micheal was his friend they were enemy's in the movie but taco...popen taco and shrimp were friends!

  • @nocknights What movie were they enemies? Breakin? Cause Im watching that now.

  • @cursivedragon The guy in eletrorock... is poppin taco he taught(helped advanced Micheal's skill's, would be a better way of butting it) king Micheal how to float! and the guy in t.k.o...is boogaloo shrimp (turbo)! that's eletrorock the group that crashed the session at vinicebeach at the beginning of the film. how could you not know that, if your watching the movie....i don't get it?if you see Lorenzo lames you're watching the wrong film...trun it off quick...and save your self!!!!

  • @nocknights Hardy har har! LOL OK I messed up I was actually watching part two. Where they did the fund raising. OK so the white guy that leads the Electrorock group taught Turbo and then Turbo helped Micheal perfect it? Cool!

  • @nocknights man get out of here shrimp is my cousin , taco didn't teach him nothin, shrimp older brother use to take him to dance on the beach when he was 14. turbo is way better than taco lol

  • @jbthegrinder Prove it...and if you read my post correctly you would notice i said advanced "Micheal Jackson" not shrimp, hell no...he landed the roll of turbo on his own but what dancer doesn't learn from another....?and yes i watched that interview with shrimp as well.

  • thats why they invented the roller blades..coz only shrimp can glide...

  • @asheonam LOL!

  • daaaamn shrimp!

  • any memphis jooker can glide like this :P BUT this video like 25+ years before any jooker started gliding!!!

  • the best glise ever!

  • back then u would see moves like that and better but turbo's got some mean ass glide but now a days u don't see those smooth kindda moves anymore u can count the foos that really know how to pop the rest just make foos of themselves lol

  • art in motion. looks perfect.

  • This video is about 25 years old, yet this little 6 seconds never stop to amaze me because i have yet to see someone gliding like this and we are in 2010 lol

  • I remember when I used to watch this movie when I was 12... then I freaked out when I saw John Claude Van Damme dancing in the back round on the beach O_0

  • @BronxxTale

If you watch my moonwalk here...

    /watch?v=OyiG9Lmp0qw

Im really focused on my upper body - from my HIPS up - it sounds weird, but Im thinking about how my upper body would MOVE SMOOTHLY as if i was standing on an escalator, moving backwards :)

The feet are just 50% of the movement. The illusion is the other 50% which is your BODY. This is where most get it wrong.

    Make sense ?

  • @BronxxTale

    No.

The secret to effective moonwalking is about creating the "illusion" which in essence means that whilst your feet are performing the actual movement, you remain focused on your actual BODY and how it moves.

eg. Watch this clip again and notice how his WAISTLINE moves seamlessly in a circular motion without stopping or jerking.

If you understand what Im saying then you GET IT :)

  • Goddamit I am probably the best glider at least in my state but im still trying to figure out how bogaloo shrimp makes his glides look so seamless

  • that shit STILL blows my mind. goddamm

  • there are too many wannabee everything hip hop dancers these days. the most important aspect of poppin, robot or whatever you care to call it is illusionary. Shrimp gets an A+ in my book. he may not have had as many tricks as some today but whats the point in quantity if it means you spend less time to learn one thing really well. alot of poppers today do the moves but the nervous energy just seems missing. if it fails to decieve the eye then there is no point.

  • Finally someone gets it!

Its about creating the "ullusion" I see so many people on youtube just doing the "movement" with no form of illusion whatsover.

The whole part of this dance is the ILLUSION.

  • @johnnyjayramone

do you mean he dont touch the ground every time?

  • man that was a fuckin trip haha

  • shrimp all tha wayy

  • who knows but MJ knew how to do a fukin crazy ass robot back in the seventees(look up jackson 5 locking) and he learned the moonwalk from some friend of jeffrey daniels but boogaloo shrimp taught hi how to pop and glide

  • NO, he learned to do a shitty moonwalk from jeffrey. He learned a smooth ass moonwalk from Shrimp and poppin and glidin.

  • tha;s not trick photography, thats him glideing... i can see why michael jackson wanted him to teach him that.. michael only learns from the best.... boogaloo is the best. period. and i dare anyone to disagree

  • Well put. Could not have said it better myself.

  • best glider for sure. i don't know about best popper though. i would need some convincing on that one.

  • best glide i have ever and probably will ever see

  • I second that!

  • Fans of Shrimp, I just concluded an exclusive and comprehensive interview with the man himself. The first several parts are on youtube now, more to come. Get the story of his life and impact on Hip Hop culture from the source. Just search for Michael Chambers Interview or go to my page.

  • boogaloo shrimp is dope but if u wanna see a glider look up daniel G nerd and u will seriously see what i mean.

  • I cant beleive you compared Shrimp to these cats. Their little cut glides arent impressive. They glide for about 4 inches and stop..... WOW!

  • If you like gliding you need to check out Bruce Ykanji. He has brought gliding to another level from this.

  • I just checked out this Bruce guy, watched 4 vids but I am affraid I can't agree. his popping is world class but his glides failed to decieve the eye, they were more like an amazing balancing act. check out the glide sequence from doc " break and enter " with Boogaloo, then please give your thoughts. PLEASE NOTE> I agree that modern street blows 80's efforts away but the street dance melting pot can be blamed for too many jack-of-all-trade type dancers and not enough purest.

  • Well.... I still think Shrimp is a better glider than bruce in the "purest" form as you describe it. However, if you watch enough of Bruce's videos you will see how he so diverse with his gliding. Bruce has stated he is not a popper though. He originally stated he was into hip-hop while gliding but, poppin has influenced his dancing. Now a days you seem him entering the new style contest more often that not..

  • I agree, I do think Bruce has his own thing going on. I think you understand my problem with modern street thou, I mean I'd rather watch a purest doing their style and only that style like boogaloo. as far as Bboys go, todays crews are sick. as a former popper myself ( at my best i was maybe a 7/10) I find it annoiying when I see various poppers during performance focus on the parts they are using and forget about what they are doing with the other parts like as if nobody will notice.

  • That ish was hot

  • he didnt CREATE it he re-invented it and mastered the hell out of it!!!

  • imagine if he dribbled a basketball at the same time. shit would look sick as hell

  • Michael Chambers also choreograhped the "Do The Bart Man" Animation.

    Check the credits

  • These videos are for those of you that think the late Michael Jackson created all his moves. He learned almost all the later moves (1981 on) from these guys. And learned a hell of alot from Michael Chambers AKA boogaloo shrimp.

  • THIS IS REAL GOOD but even if he did learn a hell of alot from them he learned their moves and bacame better and u said 1981 and on michael jackson has been dancing sense he was 5 before 1981 and on and i NEVER HEARED OF THESE PEOPLE UNTIL I TYPED IN MICHAEL JACKSON but this is the best glide ive ever seen ! ! ! ! !

  • he has been dancing since he was 5 and i'm sure he did before then, but he didn't dance like shrimp until his solo career in the 80s

  • this man created sliding and gliding, popping and locking.

  • not exactly. watch his dangerous tour. he does a lot of locking moves and some robotic type moves which he was doing in the seventies with J5. type in locking J5 on youtube. billie jean was a bob fosse inspired. the moonwalk was taught by dancer friends of jeffrey daniels. --- michael created his own style. watch him. he doesnt look like any popper or dancer for that matter. because his style is HIS OWN

  • EXACTLY michael jackson may not have made up ALL of his moves but who does, i don't know 1 dancer who hasn't used someone elses moves, since it all started in africa, thus michael jackson makes otherpeoples moves his own by chopping and changing things which make it look better, thats what its all about.

  • wait....now, i thought Turbo taught MJ how to moonwalk? they said Michael Chambers "boogaloo shrimp, Turbo" taught MJ from 83' to 91' on his poppin and lockin moves and robotic moves and whatnot...so who REALLY taught him?

  • ill as fuck

  • hes wearing old school nike blazers for anyone who cares..

  • man i remember those...lol

  • the mother fuckin best

  • are these vandals?

  • that glide is fire!

  • siick .. i used to watch this bit over and over on VHS !!

  • insane gliding

  • best example

  • nicest dancer in the world !

  • dat shit is thoed as hell he go hader then hard

  • Wow. He's awesome!

  • Nice GLUDE!!!

  • Don't tell me youtube deleted the awesome audio the opening of this movie had from that scene!?

  • liberate me from my own ignorance? ok. u know what young man im gonna let you off the hook and keep the insults that i have for you to myself, because quite frankly if you dont know what a circular motion looks like then really nobody can help you.

  • HIS GLADE WAS UNTOUCHABLE....

  • PREACH!!!

  • This is the actual moonwalk. What Michael Jackson does is called the backslide. This is a nice clip, boogaloo shrimp is the man.

  • its not the moonwalk man

  • Believe what you want... I just offer the info, up to you on whether to accept it or not :)

  • Looks an awful lot like a slick glide combo to me. Side glide, circle glide, he makes one glide backwards, not really the moonwalk though.

  • The moonwalk is not a backslide. I guess the vernacular has changed, so majority rules. I was just saying, Michael Jackson famous "moonwalk" move was really called the back slide that many average poppers were able to do. At least according to the popping history I've studied. It was erroneously dubbed the moon walk, when in actuallity, the moonwalk is the combo of floats and glides you see above. Peace.

  • Oh yeah, I hit up wikki and you are indeed right. Thanks for this, I woulda never known. I knew he wasn't the first to do it, I thought he just added a fancy name to it and got the credit. Interesting how our culture took the name from a much more intricate set of steps and associated it with his backslide.

  • No problem man. :)

  • ok the moonwalk is not a backslide, but the moonwalk move was really called the backslide that many average poppers were able to do? how many different versions of the backslide were there? the only one i know is the one i see that they call the moowalk now. you are confusing people with bad info. see Minnie The Moocher

  • Just because you are confused by something, doesn't mean the info is bad. You believe what you want to, I don't care, It's not my job to liberate you from your own ignorance. I just said it for people who are willing to listen, you can call it whatever you want. Happy New year.

    All the best,

    Vthov

  • how does he do that..really like dat scene man..and the part ofthe song dat was playing at that instant made it perfect..aint no stopping us..remember that ??

  • he has a incredible slide in his feet to work on my slide i walked around a whole day without lifting my feet.

  • I can watch this all day and still be amazed at his skills. He has and always will be on his own pedestal.

  • i saw these glides being performed in the 1980's. if ya could stand on ya toes it made the glide look real good.

  • he can keep his torso SO smooth it's insane. INSANE

    turbo's the best

  • Dang, I remember watching this as a kid, awesome stuff! I don't know what just made me search for Breakin' videos just now, must be the boredom at work... LOL

  • i aint never seen no glide like this, i cant get over it

  • breakin 3...its time.

  • hell yea!! best glide ever

  • wow! that was so smooth! great job! 5 stars!

  • thats such a cool move..in fact even after 20 something yrs, i can still pull it off myself :)

  • highly doubt its anywhere as smooth as that

  • nicest dancer in the world.........
