  • Bravo sir. Bravo.

  • Bloody hipsters

  • @WiseSonUK This song was made before hipsters went mainstream! :P

  • This song makes me want to help create a charity organization in which bands cover each others songs in benefit concerts. A cover of this song would be the theme song :)

  • this song makes me feel nothing... im not outraged im not excited... it's really bland. pretty sure minor threat did a song parodying a band wanting to make lots of money "Cashing In"

  • When I grow up, I'm going to call my band "We've got A Levels".

  • 1:29 stalker gareth o.0

  • The comments need more outraged Franz Ferdinand fans. It's slowing down. (Although thanks to OGbluntmaster for keeping the flag flying. His choice of username added a certain gravitas to his argument, at least for me).

  • A ton of money !

  • @j2tks A TON OF MONEY! :p

  • this song fucking sucks

  • YEAH BUT MISTYS IS DOING JUST THE SAME AS THE OTHER RIPOFFS SO WATS THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ...And the cookery columns followed.

  • I like this song, but I still love Franzy...lol

  • People do rip off Echo and the Bunnymen ALOT.

  • i still love this song

  • Even though I still think anyone associated with this clip is an asshole (even the old mum), I also now think Franz may have had it coming. I will always love that band, but they've shot their wad. They can take their own sweet time getting back together, because right now I've bloody well had it.

  • Absolutely brilliant! And the Teardops live pastiche is just disturbingly well done

  • It just goes to show, you can't be too careful.

  • Song, despite being a very true analysis of the 'revivalist' craze and majorly catchy, is offset by the fact the lead singer in the hat looks like a pseudo-interllectal twat. Or am I missing the point there? ¬_O

  • @madcapoperator I think he's allowed to be a pseudo-'interllectal' twat because he's Noddy Holder from Slade.

  • @Ded5833 i was on about the singer, not noddy

  • 'and cookery columns followed' - excellent : )

  • i know one of the dancers and darthnimod29979245 CoCo mad is awsome!!!

p.s you guys are my favorite band

  • awesome band loved them since they played at coco mad when i was young and I had no idea what was going on lol

  • 1:33

  • This is some song!!

  • The guitarist in that Retro Spankees band looks just like a young Stephen Malkmus

  • The manager/car driver is the old dude out of the band Dodgy!

  • Yeah, he's their manager.

  • Misty's manager, that is.

  • old dude??

    shite

  • love this song, Great Lyrics ....... When will Franz Ferdinand disappear ;-)

  • @stuman06 You know it's a shame, cuz Franz Ferdinand had a great first album, I think it's more the scouters that have the idea to pick out the bands with a certain sound during the craze of that period.

They're looking for endless numbers of 90's throw-back indie/dance acts these days and likes of Franz Ferdinand aren't really altogether welcome!

Unfortunately they got stuck in one of the "pop" machine's almighty cogs, poor b*stards.

  • 1:35 WOO!

    love it!

used to make me laugh so much when i first heard it :)

THESE PLAYED AT MY PRIMARY SCHOOL XD

  • The teats really must have been idiots not to suss this out when recording ; )

  • Speaking as both a fan of Franz Ferdinand and Misty's, this is one of the sharpest, grumpiest-fun videos I've ever seen. Having lived through Britpop and Britpop 2.0 - both media creations, both ultimately disappointing - I like to see someone at least loosening the nuts holding the wheels onto these bandwagons.

They played a slightly modified version of this at Oxford last Friday. On an entirely unrelated note, if anyone spots Chris Gee, then do let Gareth know: he'd probably like a word.

  • THIS IS BRILLIANT!

  • Hmm thats rip off nursery rymes instead of britt pop, they tryed punk/ska with Hey Man, Seen them live and they are a good band but with this ironic statement they should be more tongue in cheek and less righteous. and the vid NOT song takes the piss out of a band I saw in the same venue not a month apart from seeing misty's right on.

  • lmaooooooooooo

  • is this stuff on limewire?

im out of money or whatever with itunes so...

  • saw these guys last night, they were pretty tight.

  • i think you might have missed the point a bit there ... what they are lamenting is that many bands nowadays are ripping off old records rather than having new ideas of their own ... and the bits they mimic in this song are the bits that those bands have royally ripped off. they pick out franz and kaiser chiefs here but the song is really aimed at many/most bands around that time (and now) that aren't being very fresh or original.

  • coffeenowpls, are you denying that Franz Ferdinand did cookery columns?

  • ha, barleyflies. did it hit a sore point?

  • Lmao I was about to say Everything is Average Nowadays was a rip off of this song, right before the Kaiser Chief video parody.

  • Savage tune, really makes me not want to litter

  • love it!

y isn't it big at the mo? It should be...

  • You don't know what it's about, do ya?

Besides, this song is a couple years old.

  • Damn this song should get way more recognition than it does.

    This should have been No1!

  • that money lots of money bit ... i assume thats a franz ferdinand piss take ?

  • hugznbubblez, you hit the nail on the head there, it's like two different songs! With first minute being really catchy, quirky, imaginative pop, and the second part being a really shit condemnation of modern music and modern rock/pop groups. These guys need a good producer to sort out their songs. And what the fuck was Noddy Holder in it for?! He's a convicted nonce.

  • The second half is MEANT to be 'a really shit condemnation of modern music and modern rock/pop groups'

it's pointing out the fact that music nowadays is pretty much all the same

    :)

  • Since when is noddy holder a nonce?

Sure you're not confused with gary glitter?!

  • Amazing:)

  • The first one minute and 7 seconds of this song is amazing the rest is hmmm

  • gr8 song, what's the point though?

  • that music should mean more than pop idol. that people should appreciate music on the basis of music not just love and conform to a packaged rip off image sold just for cash. pretty self explanatory just listen to the lyrics.

  • fuck yeah!xD

    what a song!!:D

  • A provocation just to make a lots of money...?

  • I fell sick because its Park life VIA Franz Ferdinand. Featuring Noddy!?. Pft.

  • I can't think anymore. Do I hate this? Do I like this? I s it more of what I should like. Is it Ironic, subversive art or repetitive student Skinseque* (we hate boy band but we are the new boy bands) type of shit? Agghhh does it even matter. I'm just going to blow my brains out because I hate everyone just a little bit less than I hate myself.

*I hope this never becomes a word that holds weight.

  • lol i see your point, i'd be well ambivalent to this if i'd just seen it here or heard it on record first. Thing is i saw them live at wychwood festival and they were AMAZING. such a fun live band, really worth going to see. I wouldn't call them subversive, but they're a right laugh.

  • I think i'd just got in pissed and was looking for something to moan about. Silly really. I quite like it now.

  • I first heard this song in topshop... oh the irony

  • i just luv beans on toasts!

  • was the record shop Swordfish in Birmingham?

  • la la la

    la lala la

    la la la

    lala la lala

    i love the banana splits!

  • @Tedsuzan: Yes, yes it is...Go see them live, their great, and that guy makes many appearances :D

  • LOTSA MONEY! LOTS AND LOTSA MONEY!

  • JACK BROWN YOU DOG!!! I thought I'd be the only one searching for this. WAB! xx

  • genius...

  • was that blue man wearing blue gloves on his head toward the end?....awesome...

  • Art Brut?..... in what way?

  • HAHAHAAAAA XD

  • Genius band!

  • great song

  • Blimey, they actually got Noddy Holder to guest on here! Genius.

  • This guy was obviously around when "indie" actually meant something.I howled with laughter when I first saw this.(pork pie)hats off to my fellow cynic

  • AWESOME. Misty's Big Adventure rock :-) thanks for posting

  • Yeah,

    Woo Hoo

    End the Bland Age.

    Awesome song and band.

They should enter X factor for a laff, and sing this song, that would crack me right up!!

  • its funny that the "lots of money" part is a real franz ferdinand sound. great song!

  • and the skeletons are an ode to the Kaiser Chiefs too!

  • i love this song so much!!!!!!

  • Weird video though don't really get it!!!!

  • Haha Just saw that ad for littering thats the song i looked up. birll video

  • Hehe!Great Song!!!I first heard it on an add for littering!

"Wer'e gonna listen to them. . .and rip them off!YAY!"

    Hehe!Brilliant!

  • That was one heck of an ad...

    Re-enacted it in school LOL!

  • malarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • God bless Uncle Noddy

  • There's a shortage of mirrors in the UK, judging by the first verse of the video.

  • anyone has this song? i really want it :(

  • Just a bunch of hipsters... kind of hypocritical song, don't you think?

  • Not really. I think he knows all too well how fleeting this all can be.

  • this is off that add the two filthy people boo yeah

  • I think it sounds more like neil hannon of Divine Comedy Fame

  • i know every member of this band =D

  • Which band? Misty's, or the band of boys with trendy hair?

  • I guess the next thing for that band to do would be to move to America (or maybe Canada).

  • The kid who plays the leader of the rip-off band is pretty funny - who is he?

  • he is charlie, from a band called the retro spankees - they are fun!

  • Funny that Noddy Holder's in this - Slade kinda went through the same thing popularity-wise (only Slade were smart enough to hang onto the money - oh, and they were also a great band with great songs - that always helps).

  • that is some deliciously good fun. i liked it alot.

  • One musical reference that I don't think anyone's picked up on here is the horn riff that comes in at about 3:12. This is a direct quote from Sleeping Gas by the Teardrop Explodes, which appears on Kilimanjaro - one of the post-punk records that the lead singer of the ill-fated rip-off band waves gleefully at his mates at 1:15. Sad, but true!

    Chris

  • Great. I'm loving it.

  • first half of song is good. love the stalker bit at 1:31

  • This video Rocks! I love it!

  • luv this song!

  • if you behave like a piece of filth thats how people see you :)

  • IM IN THIS!

  • Really? Which one are you?

  • love it ^^ i heard them for the first time at the Greenman Festie in Wales last weekend. Favourite : Radioactive Children

  • excellent!

  • Vocals sound like Julian Cope !

  • i think he's trying to make a smal lpoint :P

  • FUCKING genius! im SICK to death of the shite that's going on now. 10'000 bland bands making no effort, stupid little kids with their fucking wank fashion sense, at least someones making a point about it :)

  • haha you joking? open you eyes pal

  • La La La... Everything is average nowadays...

    Oooooo... the irony.... :p

  • wajjaja !!!! =)

  • Excellent!! This was very funny and very clever.

  • Its odd cos Gareth has a franz ferdinand tattoo?! Wonder why he had that done.

  • LOVE IT :D!

  • I quite enjoyed that

  • I love it! And I'm a huge fan of Kaiser Chiefs, though not so much Franz Ferdinand. Just cos you like a group doesn't mean you can't love it when people take the piss out of it.

  • funny as fuck all you precious cunts get a sense of humour we have heard all these songs your heroes sing years ago love the chimp

  • Shoots himself in the foot a little making a song parodying the bands he resents, doesn't he? .M aybe he never made the band cos he looks like he reads Terry Pratchett books and hangs about the park on his tod...

  • Are you saying that Gareth is not fashionable enough for you? :)

  • You say that like it's a bad thing. What do you read, Maeve Binchy?

  • Admittedly, it's a good song, but I don't think that Misty's Big Adventure are anyone to take digs at Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs

  • Why did I get this shit searching for "Noddy Holder"? Geez youtube sucks worse than google

  • Seems like the irony was lost on somebody who`s stuck in the 1970`s!!

  • why did you watch the whole thing then?

  • si les digo como fan de franz ferdinand, le dire k es una reverenda porkeria esa "parodia". xro si les digo como persona... les dire k la parodia es curiosa y la cancion es un asco. XOXO

  • Nice and Fashion Video is cool

  • I can't express in mere words how good this is.

    Take that, scenester style clones!

  • I like this a lot. I saw it on TV and had to watch it again. Although I like bands that they're complaining about, it is very funny and a fair point that a lot of those bands sound alike. (I don't only listen to those sort of bands, so I think I'm safe there).

  • Papa um bo bo!!! tara ra ra..

  • sorry that was a bit silly, what a great song. :)

  • is that really noddy? damn let himself go...

  • WACK!

  • this is something that'll probably grow on me.

I know people who talk/act like those kids at about a minute and a half in.

  • Hm. Well, the idea of a satirical song on pop is funny, but in this case, it was carried out poorly. Except for the line "Cookery columns followed", the song didn't have much humour, and the video was simply an over exaggerated parody, which is very easy to do, not clever.

It points out the obvious, and it's an idea that's already been used before, but it's still alright. I'll admit to being biased. I like post-punk and I definitely don't mind hearing its influences.

  • Fans of FF should laugh at this very creative song. Those that diss this song as "nobodies getting pop for trashing chart-toppers" are wrong.

Yet what Mistys did isn't anything new. Look at Frank Zappa's trashing of the Beatles in the late 1960s with "We're Only in it For the Money." History is cyclical, and often repeats. Franz is a promising fun pop rock band. The Mistys are underappreciated creative geniuses.

  • yehh im meeting the lead singer of the "lots of money band" booo yehhh x

  • te quiero rivas

  • Ha! Quality. I admit to liking a bit of Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs, albeit only as a turnmymindoffanddance kinda thing, but it is still top!

Mostly what annoys me are the people it takes the piss out of at the start - flippin' students! (and I'm saying that as a student meself...)

  • i know the lead singers sister :) the singer in the "lots of money band" go me x

  • Haha, I love it!

    x

  • lol so true

  • So cool, fun, entertaining, funny, great beat, watched Fashion Parade over 50 times within a couple of weeks.

I also love "The Story of Love" cool song, great sound.

Although I really don't much like anything else you have here on you tube, but I guess you would be bland if they all sounded the same and every one has a different ear, so carry on with the good work.

  • really quality this :D

  • you guys are all lame.

  • lovin it!!! every lyric in this song rings true!

  • LOL nice video, and good franz ferdinand rip off there :P

  • Well... If there were no Franz or Kiaser, there would be no "Fashion Parade" for anyone. Isn't Noddy a famous tv program for lil kids? They're ripping a name...

  • love it, and this band are awesome live too. all music is ripped off, but misty's are more original than alot of bands who think they are original, i mean they have erotic volvo= the man in the red suit with the blue face, who is really annoying but sorta funny, anyway basically the band rock, and this is my favourite video. xxxxxx

  • With regards to the Kaiser in the living room piss take, I can imagine this was what Noel said to Liam before they formed Oasis, let's rip off a load of old Beetles music, and make tons of money.

TBH wasn't the whole Britpop shite in the 90s just basically rip offs to 60s/70s music, and now todays bands are basically ripping off late 70s early 80s music, and cunts like Edith Bowman and the other radio 1 knob jocks are lapping it up.

  • Art imitates life. Just look at the state of politics in the UK. We are living in a bland age.

  • aha pure fooking genious!!!

and just a bit phitt too :)

    xxxxxX.

  • its a great, funny tune. nice to see some teardrops and echo and the bunnymen sleeves in a new vid too! can't get over his vocals sounding just like julian cope's!

  • lovin it!ha!poor guys

  • revival bands are all fucking bollocks and this is spot on. i don't care if you all think your favourite bands will love it, because you know deep down that you're a poser and the music they make is fantastically terrible.

    and your hair is stupid.

  • Being a Franz and Kaisers fan, love it!

The song is really great too. Excellent guys!

  • retro spankees rule!!!
