@MrCantheal Im guessing since there's an emphasis in the pronounciation in the first syllable of both hello and hollow, where the word sorta drags a bit, as where in herb and honor there's no emphasis whatsoever =o That's what I think

I don't understand why they wouldn't pronounce the H, it's there for a reason. By that logic you should say art instead of heart, ero instead of hero and so on.

I don't believe anybody really does, as every child in America who's learning to read automatically pronounces the H and is then told they were incorrect and that it's silent. But I do know we have some pretty ridiculous spelling and punctuation rules (I lived in Scotland for a few years, little things here and there bother me).
