  • check out fiandbee's channel

  • *Raises hand* "May I use the rest room?"

  • Great Video. Keep up the good work!

  • really good, I liked it. although it would have been helpful if there was a bit of an overview on geometry beforehand.

    nice work

  • Thanks and keep up the good work :)

  • Whooo, Metric System!

  • *throws a paper plane in class*

  • Bucky!! Get your peeps to say their name at the beginning!!

  • She is smart.

  • is she using a tablet to write?

if not, how is it so smooth?

  • Very good video!

Btw, Bucky, i wanted to thank you for all of your videos because they've helped me a lot. Thanks to your videos, I got a job as a PeopleSoft developer last week. I know you didn't teach PS, but all of your programming tutorials (Java, etc.) surely HELPED a lot. Once again, thank you!

  • Kitchen

  • Let me know what book you're teaching from word for word, so I can go check it out of my local library myself, I'm sure I could find more excitement among those dusty formulas than your voice. Ugh.

  • lol at XD

  • i watch all her video because of her voice..

^_^ does that make me a pervert?

  • @slier81 yes... it does... O_O

  • good handwriting

  • Geometry is probably the easiest math there is. Algebra is probably next. Trig is a pain in the arse tho! 0.o

  • @KronicKillaz Poo, my high school made me learn Algebra next Algebra 2, then Geometry and Trig right after.

Even though you end up in the same place. : O

  • @KronicKillaz " Geometry is probably the easiest math there is." Are you fucking out of your mind? you have no clue what geometry is about do you? Masters/PhD level math is easy for him huh!

  • @electronikita I've done drafting as well as mechanical engineering which applies all types of geometry as well as algebra. To ME it is easy. No need to get so offended and get all angry....

  • @KronicKillaz i guess by algebra you mean arithmetic (b/c engineering and drafting has nothing to do with algebraic structures)

google monoid, ring theory, abelian group and such

    catharsis guaranteed

  • @guest1754 Yes, the times we would use Algebraic Equation is making 3D models of an object (maybe a car part, screws, etc) and if we were to only elongate one section and not want to effect the scale we would have to apply it to different areas of the object.

  • @KronicKillaz I can't even begin to tell you what a silly person you are. I dare you to walk into math department of any university nearby and proclaim that geometry is easy TO YOU. Hope your post PhD studies go well =)))))

  • @electronikita Is all I proclaimed is that Geometry is easy...why are you talking about post PhD studies? My post PhD studies will consist of mathematics and science WAY beyond basic geometry like this. Actually all I did was state my opinion and you are doing anything to make an argument. You are a waste of a conversation. You're blocked and have a nice day.

  • I like the way this is going. Can't wait for logarithms and functions.

  • Hi Man, Great fan of your software turtorials. I have one suggestion. If you could create different channels for your geometry, biology and software tutorials, it will most beneficial to us.

  • oh and i forgot to add... i hope these tutorials will get more complex as it has been so far

for example... there is basically no video tutorials (on yt) about tensor calculus, fourier analysis, cauchy residue theorem, millenium prize problems and such

all those topics are interesting and important in math/physics today

    ---

but im not sure, who is the target audience for thenewboston project

    its all too superficial ...

  • you need more strength and confidence in your voice!

  • You can't say length of \overline{AD}. This is wrong. Correct would be:

    1. The length of [AD]

    2. \overline{AD}

The length hasn't got a length.

I agree with the others. You should really start with something more general. Video tutorial making isn't easy and takes much time. I know that myself. So don't give up, you will be doing great!

  • I like the suggestion to separate the different topics from each other.

  • Thanks for this. Been A while - forgot geometry was :P Awesome voice.

  • Bucky hired 2 chicks, smart man

  • this is gonna help me with my math classes thanks!!!!

  • @Cholride , Or could you just create a new channel for each subject

    TheNewBoston-Programming

    TheNewBostonMath-Math

    TheNewBostonScience-Science

so that way. people who are only here for the programming, doesn't have to be getting biology and geometry in my sub. box.

  • @jaketheman987 well if they sort the videos and make them a series, you could then sub to a series, and not have to worry about the other vids in your sub box.

    just so you know

  • Please, Please can you make more of these, but maybe a little harder because that was very standard algebra

  • Bucky-- She needs some of your Sarcasm... Spice it up

  • Comment removed

  • I always use absolute value/modulus symbols to show the length of a line, like this: |AB|

  • I'm currently taking engineering calculus, but somehow I NEVER took geometry, so think watching these might be good for me. I do have a couple suggestions.

When you write, it kind of takes a long time. It's not easy to do, but with practice you will be able to start writing before you say it. I don't know if your using a mouse or a tablet, but just practice writing faster and it should seem more lively. Perhaps consider using a pen and paper with a camera.

  • Get a sassy black woman to do this, i need some life in this

  • Wow, people are so busy complaining below they can't even coherently articulate themselves. Maybe you should do a basic grammar and spelling tutorial, too.

  • fuck you leave all the vids to bucky this is boring as hell!

  • @theodor70941 Dude just to say majority of the earths population find maths/geometry boring =D

  • Hey Bucky, I love you with all my heart! You are like my brother, even if I don't know you. The reason why I love you so much is because you care abouth us, so please keep going with this channel! You are my BEST teacher ever!

  • BUCKY! You should do programming in this channel and the other this in other channels!

  • Maybe she should show her face so we can get the energy and make us more comfortable. Just saying..

  • @bmd900

    haaaaaaaa

  • I would rather have shorter video intervals and more energy than more videos with less energy :D

    Just a suggestion

  • could you please make an itruduction to your viedeos

and please tell us your name it is so unpersonal

al least say hi at the beginning of the video

    please

  • I just farted and smelled my finger. that is all.

  • Boring, and I will not watch this. Reminds me of my teacher..

This is the problem with people that learn from school. They become like their teachers and they think they're smart..

    Shop her out Bucky.

  • Didn't bucky hire more people? What is the rest doing? You are the one who is doing biology to right?

  • Sorry to say this, but the KhanAcadamy is waaaaaaaay better at teaching math.

  • I think you should've started off explaining the practical applications of this.

  • She is very good with the mouse.

  • @Larabiah3 Lol I'd say she's using a tablet.

  • @wolterh6 Lmao I'm so outdated.

  • @Larabiah3

    She's using a tablet.

  • geometry in programming ? fail

  • @Jozekban it has nothing to do with his programming tutorials you idiot. If you had watched his updates you'd know that he has hired some people to give geometry tutorials along with some other subjects. His channel isnt just about programming tutorials anymore.

  • You can't compete with Sal, sorry.

  • YAAAAAY GEOMETRY im gone to ready for math 0960 and math 1000 those are college classes by the way. at my college anyway!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ...Bucky is a girl now?....

  • @daeheadshot of course you did not now ^^

  • @daeheadshot

Check out his other videos that aren't tutorials, it's explained.

  • gopal hit the nail on the head. This is more like reading out of a book than actually teaching, but I still like thenewboston, and I'm not going to hate on his work.

  • I think it would be a good idea to have the new staffers introduced so we know who will be doing videos. Bucky has put a lot of time into doing this and getting it coordinated as with anything new, there will be some adjustments and some difficulties along the way. Just be patient everyone. Great job so far Bucky and staffers!!!!!

  • i dont want to be rude and all...but this is really!!!!!!!!! boring..please teach us more challenging stuff

  • @sharuto I think thenewboston has a good idea for doing this. He wouldn't just come up with random stuff :D.

  • @IamJamieeee Or they've long surpassed the level of basic math and geometry... -_-'

  • hey, loving the tutorials, they're great ! But I have one suggestion; on your channel, could you please create different playlists for each subject so its easier to view and find, and at the same time they could be classified in a neat manner :) Thanks

  • @Cholride I don't think there is a need to do this when you can already go to The New Boston's website to view it in order...

  • @Cholride try thenewboston(DOT)com if u havn't already

  • u should say AB = CD with out _

  • Omg i love your voice, but ya you should start of with the history of Geometry, just a little bit, then teach point, lines, and planes, and go from there :D

  • @Flee4me So they should just start at a random point? You always need to cover the basics first if you are shooting for a long series of tutorials.

And you realize he will be pumping out something new 24/7 now? He's going to make whole lots of tuts on different subjects. These tuts on math and biology are just an addition to his tutorials.

You might also notice that he have completed a entire new series on xhtml/css in just a few weeks too, and soon finished on his javascript!

  • @Olafuuur You aren't making much sense mate, where exactly did I say they should start a random point?

And as I said before, I will be checking this channel sporadically to see if any new series would start that appeal to me.

  • Bucky you should find better teachers. You don't start of teaching geometry, you start off telling people what geometry is. Everyone has learned this. Anyone who watches your videos, has learned this. Start off with something more difficult, this is like going back to elementary school.

The beginning doesn't evens say, "this is geometry", it starts off with "Congruent Segments."

This is like if I went to school and the teacher just writes:

    E=mc2

But at least E=mc2 is something worth knowing.

  • @Flee4me You do realize Bucky will keep doing the computer tutorials?

  • @Enic1337 Yes I do, but, as I stated before, not the ones I'm interested in.

I subscribed for his gaming videos and his photoshop, sony vegas, adobe AE and 3D tutorials, not for his programming tutorials like Java, C++ or XHTML.

  • @Flee4me You don't know that. He wont only do script/programming language tutorials, these are the ones he's doing currently, not the ones he'll always do.

  • @Enic1337 I have checked his recent uploads, and the latest video that appeals to me was uploaded over 7 months ago. I'll still check his channel sporadically, but I doubt he'll be covering any subjects I'm interested in any time soon.

  • i hope this gets into more advanced math as i have a C1, C2, M1, and M2 test coming up that i'm revising for.

  • Dude, geometry is something you have to take in school. Your audience is a bunch of older people who like programming; changes are that over 95% of them already took geometry (geometry = sophomore year in high school). Please skip to some more beneficial tutorials that are useful to programmers.

  • @megametalpriest

I don't think Greg hired people to teach Math and Biology because "old programmers" have trouble at it. I think he hired them in hope for a bigger audience

  • @Flee4me you kind of have a point, but this is free and he is not restrained to one subject or 2, bucky is free to teach whatever he feels like to, whether it's geometry or how to cook pork, be happy to have this kind of quality tutorials and teaching that sometimes not even schools are capable to teach in a proper way

  • You should of done this starting September 1st when i started my geo class lol. Skip to Quads! :)

  • wtf is geometry? c'mon basic math, but no basic geometry... keep up programming vids but i am not a fan of these at the moment... maybe when you develop to higher levels of subjects they may be good for revision or something... i wana hear your voice bucky <3

  • Nice video, if you go to more advanced stuff it will be great to watch a week or days before I have exams in Math :)!

  • WAIT WHATS GEOMETRY?!?!!?

  • 5th =D TU

  • Honestly, you should start off with what geometry actually is. Maybe use the first video to explore it's history and uses in the modern world, then procede to teach the basics.

  • @alique087 You should raise the question: Who are going to watch these videos? Kindergarten kids or people who are acquainted with the basics of geometry.

  • @alique087 Geometry's uses in the modern world lie in the realm of differential geometry so unless you want to start an intro with talk of lie derivatives and geodesics and manifolds it would probably be better to just introduce the actual subject matter.

  • @floopsie666 That's ridiculous. Differential geometry is only one area which is primarily used in physics. It has only become popular around the 20th century. Geometry as a whole has been around since 3000 BC. There's no reason you can't touch apon it's more basic useage outside of physics.

Nonetheless, in a 10 min introdution video, there's no reason you can't talk briefly about how far geometry can lead you anyway.

  • @alique087 sure you want to watch lectures about algebraic structures?

it would take at least 30 7-minute video lectures to build up a fricking coordinate system

and another 30 lectures to draw a parabola

  • @alique087 Maybe you should do that, and take her material and do an intro to Geometry of you own, otherwise if you dont take the time and effort to instruct others, don't knock her for not doing an intro.

  • awesome new series!

  • Nice *Liked
