the best server I ever had was a dude, the guy was pretty much invisible, he wasn't annoying, he would pop in and refill everything like a fuckin ninja, and the food was awesome... that guy got likea $30 tip... It's all based on service, if I ask for napkins and WHAM, there they are? then you sir, are deserving... I hate when some servers just forget about you, this guy, did not.
The last waitress to serve me and my buddy had her face shot at and her scar was from the corner of her mouth across her cheek to lower earlobe.True story the punk killed her mother and sister and tried to kill her.Happend not to far from where i live.I would love for her to find happiness that money just cant buy.Now that i got everyone crying dont compare the outside w the inside.She is STILL gorgeous inside and out.So my motto(i dunno) tip your waiter/waitress,they make a lousy wage.
I tip based on how many refills of soda I get. If I don't get a refill for over a half hour, that tip is going down the drain. Also, at the Chinese buffet where they have no concept of good service, I usually tip 10% because they're horrible servers. All they do is get our drinks and usually fuck that up.
For a decent waitress in a place we usually go to, I usually tip a standard 15%, but because we're not old fogeys we usually get crappy service so it sucks.

I myself work in food service, so I cut them slack if it's super busy. But if it isn't, and you're still getting lousy service fuck them.
I applaude you for having good taste and watching Gedaxen, but that was such a cunty response.
