I hate people like this. Yes guns can be fun to shoot. But it's completely irresponsible to just shoot a gun because its powerful, ESPECIALLY when you don't have the control needed to properly handle it, I don't care if there's one round in the cylinder. If you had wobbles up and down from the recoil like that...PUT THE GUN DOWN and shoot something you CAN handle properly.
@BigGun500mag Look at these IDIOTS turning the weapon away from DOWN-RANGE! What the hell is going on here? Dipshits! NEVER, EVER turn the weapon away from "downrange!" The yoyo turned right across the range towards the camera man. That would get you kicked out of a "good" range!
@BigGun500mag I'd rather be an ALIVE SHIT, than be a dead one. I'll make sure to watch for you at the range. That way, I'll know when to leave.......alive
My old man has the 8 3/8" version, and that thing is bad enough, so I can only imagine how bad the whip is on a mountain gun...the .460Mag is a bad mama-jama too...
Imagine trying to focus on the target shooting next to this behemoth! lol, especially the woman shooting the Ruger .22,lol. I can't even imagine the muzzle blast that's gotta accompany that beast when the trigger gets pulled, not to mention that's the PORTED version too, just imagine the non-ported with that bullet/load,lol.
where can u find the 600 and 700 grain bullets do u reload or can i get some off the shelf. i haave a .500 in the h&r handi rifle. the biggest ive found is 500 grain hornadys.
the warning on the 700 grain bullet is not to use it on 4" or shorter barrel length due to destabilization. Does that mean it is not safe on the gun or just not recommended?
The 700 grain comes out tumbling. Use caution with anything that has to do with that monster. The 600 grain actually kicks more than the 700 in a 4" barrel. Good luck and play safe.
Last guy almost planted it in his forehead. Problem with such a large, powerful weapon is that people usually develop a bad flinch. But it's still fun to make a lot of noise!
The problem is actually in the round. They were using 700 grains and they really do kick excessively especially with the shorter barrels. The ones between 300 and 450 grains are more reasonable.
The danger is also that at recoil the shooters could double bump the pistol while trying to hold back the recoil and cause a second round to go off in the wrong direction. There is another video on Youtube showing a girl doing that exact thing. Completely irresponsible on the part of the people setting novices up iwth over powered firearms just for their own ammusement.
the short guy with the hat is purposely bringing the bun back after the recoil has stopped. The gun blows back in two stages. Playing for the camera I think, or bad technique.
Recovery for a second shot is hopelessly slow. The good news is that one shot from that beastie is all you are likely to need unless you are facing a T REX in Jurassic Park. The better news is that if you pull it out on a bad guy you won't need to fire and will be able to track him down from the trail of s%*t he will leave as he hauls ass away.
The gun is a fun toy. Not much practical use but video taping some one shooting that monster the first time is classic entertainment. most common is "Holy %$#*"
I know that shit hurts. My Casull with 335gr hurts after 3-4 shots. My hats off to you guys for having the balls to shoot that hot of a load out of a pistol. I want one too!
Believe it or not, +p Casull loads in a single action like a Freedom Arms have more uncomfortable recoil than the S&W 500, even with 700 grn loads. The S&W is comped, and is incredibly heavy. Handloaders have got the Casull up into the lower levels of 460 Smith performance.
I actually have the Super Redhawk. I have a 4x leupold on it which helps slightly with the kick. As is it's a brick of a weapon system. I'll be spending $85 for the 9inch barrel and another $165 port job on that barrel. I hope that helps. I've never shot the other guns that you mentioned but I've heard that my casuall kicks harder.
The manual recommends not shooting more than 12 rounds in one day. After 3 or 4 rounds you will feel it for the rest of the day. Its not very practical but a hell of a lot of fun.
@Tonyiz It doesn't take "balls" to shoot a 600 grain bullet at a TARGET. It "takes" a FOOL! ESPECIALLY "factory-loaded" bullets! WAY TOO much powder to be shooting at targets all day. Just a bunch of dumb men.
I just shot my S&W 500, 6.5" barrel with 480 grain bullets the first time tonight.. it takes your breath away. Also I would like to kick the dumbass that points this big gun at the cameraman at 30 seconds. He should never be allowed to shoot this gun again. I love my 500, but it is going to take some getting used to.
And they said the .454 was designed to break the wrists of half those who fired it. Then this wheel gun came along. I would love to have one of the John Ross special edition. I just couldnt afford to shoot it much. One or two wheels through that then .22 for the rest of the day. After two with that my .22 would probably feel like a .357.
you'd jerk the trigger too firing 700 grains of lead at 1200+ feet per second. 700 grains is almost a 2 ounce projectile, it will have some force to it. Makes you put things in perspective, a bullet as small as 40 grains, a .22 LR placed properly is more than enough to kill you versus a round almost 20 times that. FYI, one ounce is equal to 437.5 grains, in avoirdupois weight(16 oz=1 lb) as opposed to troy weight (480 grains=1 oz and 12oz= 1 lb)
i could see someone doing that....you should have seen the look on my face when one of our friends shot my 500 one handed and almost dropped it. i'd shoot it one handed with light loads but anything medium or higher requires 2 hands to keep from dropping the gun or dinging yourself in the head. i have a video of a friend almost knocking himself silly with my 500. just put up a new video of some 700gr action,,,you'll know them when i shoot them and i handle it a little better than these folks.
yep.. i sent it back to s&w to have a stronger lock spring and firing spring installed. it has a ridiculous double action pull, so its pretty much impossible to do now. Even though i bought it recently, i think it was one of the older designs that had the problem with the cylinder rotating. plus, it would often misfire rifle primed brass until they fixed it.
The 4 inch barrel is not suggested to use the 700 grain
