Man I love this song... I bought this album when it first came out years ago. You know how sometimes you like a song but then after a few months your like "ehh... enough is enough"
i love this live version. there is something very powerful about it...and that piano melody in the background really gives it a sort of innocent, dreamlike feel....a little lullaby for a restless isaac.

Actually if you listen to the whole album Floating On has a very negative connotation. It implies that you're drifting through your life and doing nothing. The term appears throughout the album numerous times and as it develops it grows to be an insult of the narrator from World At Large/Float On. Especially noteworthy in the song This Devil's Workday. This song and Float on actually drip with incredible sarcasm. Issac's point is to challenge you to do something with your life

Either way this is one of my all time favorite bands.

i listened to mm and ugly casanova when i was 17 and moved away to CA. at the time my sister was in prison and had her daughter there. I missed them all and Montana, my home so much but kept listening b/c the words were all that got me through the darkest part of my life. a part of me died back then, but it gave way to who i am now, and I will hold mm in heart forever

yes this band IS old that's why I'm 34 and remember listening to them in the NY city clubs when I was 20 and getting mad reading these hipster comments about what brand cigarette he's smoking instead of paying attention to the profound lyrics and music. I'll sell you hipsters my MM Tee shirt from 1997 only $250. Get it out of your dad's BMW change holder and float away.

@triplebud piss off, prick. it's this kind of bullshit anti-hipster attitude that keeps our radio stations as shitty as they are. I'm precisely the kind of 20 year old you'd probably walk by on the street and scoff at - i drive a '85 toyota corolla that i bought for $1500 through the canadian winter, packed with 4 adults, three guitars, two giant amplifiers, and everything else needed to go to-and-from band practice every weekend while we work our fucking asses off during the week to pay for it

@awtsui Damn straight!!! These days good music is hard find, I saw them back in the mid nineties, and I think its awesome they are reaching a new generation. The young fans aren't hipsters they just have good taste! It's that whole mentality of losing credibility as you get more and more mainstream recognition that tormented Kurt Cobain so much. Either way this is one of my all time favorite bands.

@awtsui He wasnt saying "I saw this band before you..." in a way that implied that means he likes them more or he feels more connected to the band than you ever could be. He said it in a "Well you know what I've seen then before you but who gives a shit" kinda way... which is an attitude I wish more MM fans could embrace. I don't give a shit if you didnt hear about them until their latest album, point is you heard them, and you liked them. That makes you awesome in my eyes.
