I had a train journey from Oslo to Rygge and at that time the train was so nice and quite. Also, people were warned me because of the music in my headphone even it wasnt so high :) I wish we had the same Railways system in my country.

I'm from the US where freight trains run everywhere and passenger trains are barly existant anymore, but......I'd LOVE to be stuck on a delayed Noweigian passenger train with beautiful Norwegian women, but, heh, that's just me. ;-)

Wow. Iv seen black and white films of trains moving faster. And that was a steam locomotive from 1930s. Travle on land in Norway by modern standards are slow and bumpy. Im glad I flight was invented.

Protip: If there's something you should avoid while in norway, it's the fucking trains. The reason being that the NSB provides one of the least reliable (in terms of being on time) ways of transportation in Europe. Also they are usually more expensive than the bus (Norway Bussekspress/Lavprisekspressen e.g.)

You kidding? I think the NS (Dutch Railways) is entitled to win that price. I've travelled by train through Norway, literally every railway, except from Oslo to Røros, and they were all on time, except for one train, which was 5 minutes late. I've been there twice, a total of 7 weeks, both times travelling by train and that's the only delay I got. Holland however, has delays EVERY day on almost any track.. Plus, our trains are old, rusty, and make a lot of noise.

@roeltiesmoeltie Seriously, not too long ago there was an article in the newspaper about the high number of delays it had. My GF works on NSB-trains, they're constantly delayed. Also many of the trains use an uncanny amount of time considering the distance, this particular line "Bergensbanen" although idyllic, takes so long considering the cost that traveling by plane is a more viable option. I would recommend flight via Norwegian, SAS or bus (NOR-WAY Bussekspress) over the NSB any given day.

Hm, that might be so.. but at least your trains also ride in wintertime and during the fall. When the leaves start falling from the trees the trains won't go. Litterally. Anytime the weather is 'bad' we have 30 minute delays, or the train won't go at all. And don't get me started about snow. I once was in the train and it couldn't go because the traindriver was nowhere to be found. And a couple of days ago, my friend was in the train, but there was so much going wrong..

The traindriver didn't know which way they were supposed to go. Numerous trains weren't going anymore, because of a signal on the track was broken or something. So they had to wait for 30 minutes in a train, not even knowing where it was going.

Stupid stuff like that is not uncommon here, it's starting to get funny :p

And our view isn't as nice as yours, haha. But I understand why you'd rather take a plain. I travel by train in your country for fun. I enjoy it a lot.

For Christ sake... I'm a Norwegian, and born in the magic town of Tromsø. The bloody NSB (The National Railway Company) refuses to build any railways further north than Bodø, and has probably lost billions of kroner troughout the decades, because, unfortunatelly their fists (too many) are stuck up in their-you-know-what, to start even considering expanding the magnificent nationally NSB to the whole country.

@Simavaag You know very well that people of Northern Norway, the Samis would not accept railroadtrack around Tromso, because it will affect their reindeer business. It is not so much to see up there after you pass Norland anyway. Mostly tundra
