  • nothing beats the old Hayes HDX by the looks 1956 good old v12 jimmy diesel

  • What is that song called?

  • real log truck drivers,,

  • nice vid dude like the tunes

  • nice vid dude like the tunes

  • holy shit!!!!!how many tonns ?????????

  • I grew up in Gold River and seen a bunch of those trucks. It was cool to watch them get dumped off the old A frame that was there. Good footage.

  • WFP sold a few of these 2 years back for 5 grand each, just getting rid of them I guess, not sure who would buy them though.

  • Hey Clearcutter. BEST VIDEO EVER!!!!! Fat trucks AND FAT TUNES.... NAILED THAT SHIT!!!! I watch this at least once A week man. That big ol Hays running us over ..... SHEEEEIIIT! MORE MORE MORE

  • betcha that truck is paid off.

  • is that an oshgosh

  • Thats just awesome!!!!

  • Since my childhood, I hav been found of heavy trucks collections.....This reminds me of my childhood days, I would love to drive the truck once :)

  • Who is playing the music?

  • Oh my! awesome vid, I live in B.C. But ive never seen logging trucks THAT big.

  • @antonisbob I think its a Pacific Hayes...... they are made for use as a logging truck.. They where made so well...they didn't have many breakdowns. In turn that put them out of business. :-( To bad as they are very strong trucks.

  • @trapper420 Pacific and Hayes are two very different companies. Kenworth and Mack also made 'fat trucks.'

Hayes and Pacific both had break downs like any other truck, they used the same engines as large on-road rigs. And they went out of buisness-yes-because they lasted too long. PAcific and Hayes also made trucks for every other purpose.

    Research next time.

  • @WesternStar4900SA Ok..My bad..Pacific and Hayes are different.. But both are big trucks that haul big wood. :-P

Who said anything about Mack or Kenworthless... I work on both Mack and Kenworth... Mack is SUPERIOR. Kenworth... NOT even in the same class. Wiring nightmares....arggggg! As for the power units...well any one who know trucks ...knows you can have what ever you want, pretty much. :-)

  • I like trucks like the next person but what about the de-forestation around the Powell River area?

  • @justinskatess It's been replanted!! renewable resource. And it will be logged again.

  • im an avid atv rider -- i love logging roads -- please make more

  • Great vid! Fat trucks is right! That guy loading the logs used that grapple like it was his attached to his arm, lol ... definitely wasn't his first day on the job.

    Awesome job!

  • @ 2.02 what weight would that load be ?

  • probably around 85 tons

  • Well done!!

  • Over the years that I hunted and fished in bc i saw trucks just like this on grades you would hesitate to take the family car down.Back tires locked on the trailer ,literally sliding forward a foot and then stop. And they can go fast too. I fondly remember being passed by a logging truck around the flats between daisy lake and whisltler. I was in the last car in about a group of five or so. hangs a pass on us all .... then as he got up to the next turn he disapeared in a cloud of steam.

  • Hello from Nanaimo...Great video!

  • Crappy logs..

  • I've always wanted to know what this song is. Can anyone tell me?

  • Little Bird by The White Stripes.

  • good job

  • what is the song for that video? I thought there was a way to find that out but can't find it.

  • what kind of truck is that....it's a friggin badass big rig whatever the hell it is!!

you think you could fit a couple more logs on it?!!!!!! hahaha.......wicked!!

  • The ones I worked on had 2 blownV-12s mated together and 18 speed powershift. They handle 70 ton loads. Tires are off highway and run low pressures of 30 -35psi. Brakes are water cooled.

They don't make them like this any more.

  • down here in WV. we hual 70 ton of coal with normal trucks over the road and off road

  • my dads on highway truck can handle 70 ton loads with out an issue

  • woot! screw them tree huggers!! and i bet all em tree huggers have wood furnature!! fuck yal

  • @Xominer what I get a kick out of is all the protest signs and flyers they hand out are made of paper. wonder where paper comes from?

  • @Xominer yeah mate the bludgers do all have wood furniture and burn wood to cook their crappy vego meals; with no salt no grease and no freaken flavor, pity the poor basterds. Miserable bums and they want us to be miserable as them. not me I am all for life and so are all my mates. Go git em!

  • nice job loaden some heavy chunks

  • Powell River Rocks!I was there in 1984 doing a Canoe portgae of 5 lakes, it was awesome.I wonder if all those rusty barges are still there.

  • i dont know anything about that so ... how much tons u load on this trucks ? or how much tire presure ? =)

  • most are running 550 cats now but they used to come with v-12 detriots and they run 6 speed alison tranny's Not bad for 200+ tons

  • kenworht, pacific and a couple others

  • That truck is a Hayes, rip Hayes

  • god damn, they built them trucks too good... they didnt have enought money to build trucks that good anymore... This place has a refurbished Hayes truck in their yard parked next to 20 Volvos

  • BC is the shit

  • wow what kind of truck is that looks like a tough sob

  • nice - no weight limits, no over the standards to worry about, unloading mill no safety policy - like the good old days

  • it hauls more than 60 or 100 tons a trip. and they usually ran in the clay sand and little stones, so the tire is getting wear enough and it is gonna pop

  • great vid love this industry its hard work but fun i tip mjy hat to u drivers haha

  • Awesome camera work, shooting the unit passing over top.Cool!

  • Cool video

  • perfect

  • Theres a small clip of your truck rolling by in my latest vid, when you see it comming at ya, you move outa the way.

  • Very skilled drivers. Imagine the engine braking capacity they'd need for those grades with loads like that!

  • whats the anme of teh song and who is it by the way sick videos each one of them is awsome

  • nice video man, got to love the fat trucks, i put 145 meter of white wood on one. The forman didnt like that.

  • exactly. the last picture i saw a few years ago was of the abandoned one with the bush 'reclaiming' it. thanks for the info, wasn't sure if they were mack, hayes, or pacifics. anyone know of any pictures?

  • i bet if you typed in Ed Gould BC Logging I think thats the author and title there is a great write up with captioned dated photots on it. I cant honestly remember exactly where it is out there. If you call Otter Point Timber's shop or drove out and started asking around Im sure you could find out pretty quick. ask the old guys at Butler bros! lol

  • here it is : Gould, Ed. Logging: British Columbia's Logging History (Canada: Hancock House Publishers, 1975).

  • I think that book also has some great photos of HDX's hauling three trailers of logs down Nanaimo Lakes when BCFP had the claims. Thats some serious hauling there.

  • really fat truck :)

  • one of those big rigs forced us into the ditch last summer, there HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wtf? thats a lot of wood he has to carry!!!

  • years ago weyerhauser had some custom made trucks hauling outta the west coast. beleive they were pacifics and the cab was under the front of the load. driver was about a foot or so from the road. anyone know about these?

  • it could be that it was mac blo that had these trucks made. memory fades with age. lol. any info appreciated

  • I have seen pictures of those trucks and read a few things on them but can't recall where, They were very impressive!

  • There was a book made 20 yrs ago called BC Logging and they were in it. Those trucks you talked about I believe were a one-off made by Mack. The gravel giant Butler Brothers in Victoria BC owned two of them. They towed a pup trailer of logs with the unit, so there was two individual loads I lbelieve total 300 tons. They were used at Jordan River near Sooke BC. They were used for 10 years or so on the sort-to-dump mainline haul until theye were obsolete and at one is still in the bush abandoned.

  • Those trucks were built by Butler Bros in BC. As far as I know there were only 2 built.Power was 2 12v71 detroit diesels set up inline, alison automatic trans, tandem front steer capacity around 200 ton.

  • are the trucks 6 wheel drive?

  • That truck was built by Hayes... not butler brothers. The butler brothers trucks were a big failure and looked nothing like that. Hayes built a large number of offroad logging trucks like this during the 60's and 70's for coastal logging in BC, Canada.

  • That is a great tune, but more importantly that is a 'Great Big Beautiful Fat Truck'!

I drove HDX Hayes trucks between 1980 & 1996. They were the best years of my driving career. I drove for 10 years with WB Trousdell in Sechelt, 5 years with Froshner Brothers at Clowhom Falls, and finished off my off-highway years in Port McNeil.

Great finish to the video; "Loaded down the main"

    Thanks for the great video.

  • Thanks for the nice comments,

I love the last shot too. If you look close there is a grouse that flies up from the ditch on the left hand side into the trees

  • those truck are huge sure are packin a load!

  • 2 questions 1: is that truck a pacific? and 2: what band and song is that?

  • hayes

  • white stripes....little bird

  • what year is it?

  • This to inlandlake what are you thinking do you wipe your ass with paper do you read books made from paper is your house built from wood? This and mining are what founded this country and USA if you don't like it move to another country that relys on Hemp farming.

To the maker of this video I would like to see this in person keep up the work. zepplain in Idaho

  • awesome!

  • Thought i had seen some overlength overweight loads till now!! Holy cow, you guys are crazy! Great video!! Gotta have some big nuts to outrun that load off the hill!! Ya Ya. Great video.

  • When the truck comes out of the fog in the last shot you can see a Deer jump up into the woods on the Passenger side of the truck.

  • This is cool. Nice under the truck shot.

  • very nicely shot - good job

  • MAN THIS VID ROCKS I LIVE FOR THIS STUFF

  • The white stripes playing a funeral song to the humans existence on planet Earth. The day that men find the power of love, instead of the love of power, is hopefully in our future.

  • what the name of the tune ?

  • little bird... by the white stripes

  • what song is that?

  • Thanks for all the comments good and bad. All the trucks in the video (Two different Hayes HDX's) are all stock naturally asperated Detriot V12's with allison powershift tranny's A few of the other Fat trucks in the company have been repowered with new computer controlled Cummins and gearjamer tranny's (not sure of the tranny make)

  • Hey are you from Powell River? I have some family over there that own a logging company. I don't know them but their company is Christensen Logging.

  • Cool Video, Good tune, and Awesome truck. thanks for the vid It was one of the better ones I've seen. How many cubic meters avg per load? 80?

  • Not all trucks had the same Powertrain. lots have been re-engined with CAT's. It need's a blower because it is 2-stoke and need's forced induction. It still has exhaust valves which are equiped with a Jacobs brake. It also has an exhaust brake and foundation brakes. The Brake drums are cooled with water.

Powell River is on The mainland.

  • That Hayes can handle 70 tons of logs and has two V-12 2-stroke cummins coupled together each with a blower.A power shift transmission handles all the tourque and planetary axles put it to the ground, Water cooled brakes try to slow it. There were probably tree planters on that hill inside of 3 months. I used to work in the area cutting Cedar blocks. There's no room for you on the road when a Hayes is comin the other way and they cant stop for you, So stay out.

  • It has a two stroke diesel?

    If so, cool.

    I wonder where this is

    I live in campbel river

    looks framillular

  • I want to hear the trucks- dont mind the music though. kind of suitable!

    Is this renewable logging?

They probably plant trees aswell? then they can harvest them later.

If only they did it in Brazil-rain forest fucked- people thrown off their land.

  • No I'm no expert, but that is a big load, I say.

  • man i keep coming back to this site, that song is addictive.....makes me wanna get on my Cat 235C and crank up this song and build in road grade.....cheers man

  • That totally reads like Kip Brown Trucking Ltd. out of powell River......they had a bunch of trucks in the RB Vancouver sale....sign of the times...sigh

  • This blues music sounds like something off Underground Garage on Sirius. Totally badass.....who is this?

  • BAD ASS MUSIC FOR A SWEET OLD HDX HAYES. Keep them coming. I know how it is gettin flack from the hippies. They can fuck off, they don't pay the real bill in BC. Thats a great video you did of that 330BL Cat log loader and that HDX hayes......is that 12V71 detroit powered?

  • AWESOME video.

    Cool music to boot!

  • i miss dodging those trucks

  • Man, this is raw. The ongoing raping of our planet is no cool at all and nor is the music on this vid. My home (Powell River) deserves better. B.C. is for sale and I am not proud of that.

  • Get a life - what do you think pwell river was founded on ---- I think it was LOGGING! the music might not be to your liking but the realityis that you most likely live in a house made of wood and use many wood based products on a daily basis - Am I right ?

  • They may replant trees here aswell, the video does not say.

My house is brick, poor bricks, stuck in an oven and forced to be a house, aw poor things, think of the children etc...lol.

  • never did reply did he?
