As far as I understand it by tilting the head back, this is often enough to dislodge anything that is obstructing the airway. Anything still lodged within the airway can then be removed by turning the patient on the side to clear
i am wondering if you need to check airway BEFORE tilting head back as the way you do it would allow anything in the mouth to FALL down the airway before you could clear it.
