They are continuing to experiment in a unique way that goes darker than most indie rock bands would ever dare go. Personally I wouldn't want them to sound like The Hives meets the Strokes forever, I'm glad they're moving forward.

The first album was more easy listening, so i am guessing that is what you are into, not too complicated on the lyrics, singing about going to clubs and getting smashed. The second album deals with deeper stuff, has more complex music and more poetic lyrics. If it is too complicated for you that is fine, whatever floats your boat boy.
Ah now, i wouldn't go judging the quality of the band on how much you find them attractive. There are some amazing bands out there that are in better than arctic monkeys, but i am sure AM will be up there as the best in years to come. these boys are only just coming out of their shell.
The Second album is were they got their own distinct sound. The first album is great, but it's really nothing that different than what's out there. It's because of "Favorite Worst Nightmare" that no other band can be compared to the Arctic Monkeys. That's why I'm excited for "Humbug", to hear again how their Sound has changed.

I'm gonna get flamed like fuck for this comment, but while the Arctic Monkeys first album was exceptionally well written, it was pretty much nothing that hasn't been done before(The Strokes on "Is This It?" are probably the only band i've heard pull that sound off better than the Monkeys).
I'm personally glad to hear they're experimenting, cos if they kept firing out jangly indie rock songs (FWN, for all it's funky sounds, was still a pretty generic indie rock album), it'd start to sound tired.

The second album deals with deeper stuff, has more complex music and more poetic lyrics. If it is too complicated for you that is fine, whatever floats your boat boy.

Ah now, i wouldn't go judging the quality of the band on how much you find them attractive. There are some amazing bands out there that are in better than arctic monkeys, but i am sure AM will be up there as the best in years to come. these boys are only just coming out of their shell.

as a person who loves bands like silversun pickups and muse, the looks of members isn't what makes me like the band.
i am a HUGE fan of the AM's. and i suppose i'm just sick of waiting for some new tracks.

The Second album is were they got their own distinct sound. The first album is great, but it's really nothing that different than what's out there. It's because of "Favorite Worst Nightmare" that no other band can be compared to the Arctic Monkeys. That's why I'm excited for "Humbug", to hear again how their Sound has changed.

I like both albums, I really love Arctic Monkeys, but I just think the second album is far more superior than the first. The first is a really good album though that said, but some songs seem a bit unfinished on it. I'd like if their new album was more like their second.

hmm. Their sound has definitely changed. For the better? i don't know. That will be judged when the new album comes out I suppose.
I will really miss the original Arctic Monkeys sound and I will admit that I am one of those people who isn't really ready for the change in their music....
but hey, maybe I will end up really loving the new sound.

Just because they are doing something other than what caused their initial hype does not mean they are druggies. People like you are so afraid of something different and not creative enough to try something original and different. Just because their music is like this does not make them druggies, and even if they are it is none of your business and should not impact on you judgement of their music which i am really starting to enjoy.

Just because their second album doen't comply as much to the 2 - dimensional crappy indie stereotype as much as their first doesn't mean it isn't as good. Their second album is much more musically and lyrically talented.

I'm gonna get flamed like fuck for this comment, but while the Arctic Monkeys first album was exceptionally well written, it was pretty much nothing that hasn't been done before(The Strokes on "Is This It?" are probably the only band i've heard pull that sound off better than the Monkeys).
I'm personally glad to hear they're experimenting, cos if they kept firing out jangly indie rock songs (FWN, for all it's funky sounds, was still a pretty generic indie rock album), it'd start to sound tired.

Lets be honest were all arctic monkeys fans and we all loved the first album. but you have to admit they cant keep up that style for ever and as they get older and into differnt things there going to want to play different and harder music as there talents get better. in my opinion the second album was just as good as the second but different styles and its nice to see different sounds i think x

If you know music then you know their first album is actually BY FAR their least musically talented album... I mean seriously listen to this stuff, it's so complicated, it kinda makes 'whatever you say I am thats what I'm not' seem like a genre specific album made by some 17-year-old lads. Dont get me wrong tho, it is still one amazing album. Scoob505 said it best, its way more original.

its better because it has more ... soul and meaning behind it, its written before they were famous and it just has a great charm about it. its basically about sheffield....
the second album is far more original and "musically talented" but not as special simply because it isnt really ABOUT anything new or original...

Actually Alex Turner created the Last Shadow Puppets. You can't change into something you created, therefore he has always been that way and has had this other side to him. so thank Alex and the feckin Universe because we all have beautiful music to enjoy.
