Never saw the policy trailer before, but I remember the Hoyts Policy Trailer from around 1993, but I missed those days when I saw the 1993 version of the policy trailer at both the Poughkeepsie Galleria and the Hudson Valley Mall, it was taken over by Regal Cinemas.
I remember running this as a Projectionist (remember us?) at the Mahaiwe Theater in Great Barrington. If memory serves me, the Mahaiwe was the only single screen theater owned by Hoyts in the US. We ran this as late as 1994.
HOORAY!!! I searched the internet and found this piece of nostalgia. Back in 1987, when my future wife and I were first courting, we went to the theatre and a bunch of high school kids were sitting near us. When this trailer got to the end, they all shouted "HOYTS". Being the mature couple that we were, we busted up in uncontrollable laughter. We repeated it to each other whenever we visited a Hoyts cinema. Sadly, this trailer disappeared in 1990 or so; I thought I'd never see it again!

We had a Hoyts theare where I lived for many years. Eventually it closed and the building was vacant for several years until it was converted into an independently owned and operated establishment screening high-brow fare. The most memorable part of this trailer for me was the "Please note the locations of exits" slide, as the ambient lighting in the auditorium would briefly brighten to indicate precisely where the doors were. Its funny what you remember.
I wish someone could hunt up more Hoyts policies from the 90s. I went to the one near the mall in Lewiston/Auburn Maine a lot during the 1990s. It's still operating as Flagship, but it isn't as good as it used to be. They still have all the original fixtures from the Hoyts-era, though!!!
This was for the American Circuit. I was a Director of Ops there. We had Pike Productions in RI create it, with many elements from the Austrailian Circuit incorporated.
Anyone got the "modernized" one that was released in 93?
No. Hoyts started selling off the international potions of the chain in 1998 when most chains experienced finacial troubles due to the capital expenses involved in building MegaPlexes. They sold a little more than half of the theatres (almost 80% of profits) to Regal Entertainment. The remaining 40% became an independant chain 'Northeast Cinemas' - most of which have been closed or sold to become independants. A few still bear the Hoyts Logo on the exterior.
If its the one I'm thinking of (the one that shows the Hoyts logo before immediately going into the candy dispenser shot), I have so many memories of that growing up in New England
Actually, I don't think this version screened in Australia - the music definately is the same, but something tells me that this is a policy trailer for their American cinemas - in Australia we don't call sweets 'Candy' - seems odd and unlikly that would be in a policy trailer for Australia.

How do these surface? Although this one is awesome, I would love to see the mid-90s one again.

I was a projectionist for Hoyt's in the late '80s to mid '90s. This brings back so many memories. Ridiculous but true. LOL.

Does anyone have the Hoyts policy trailer from around 1993 or so? The one that started with the Hoyts logo and faded into the candy dispensers?

Actually, I posted this video on April 20, 2007, not JoeCool85 of DailyMotion.

Most Hoyts Cinemas in the US were taken over by Regal or Bow Tie Cinemas.

That lighting of the exits is unlike anything I have ever heard of before. More theaters should adopt that practice.

@mailboy79 Is the theater you're referring to happen to be located on the CT shoreline?

Hoyts had a deal with Columbia/Tristar for a while in home video. Wonder if that translated into discounts at the theaters.

And with Polygram, too. They only released one video together though.
