people think everyone hates vista because of slow speeds, when that is the least of its problems:

compatibility issues

driver issues

frequent unresponsive programs

retarded windows search

absolutely NO flexibility or freedom

..to name a few.

the only people who don't come across the countless shortcomings of vista are those who only use it for internet/gaming/word. others like to use the full extent of their OS.

i have zero complaints when it comes to XP.

Well Windows Vista had many problems. Companys (like Sony). Put Vista on low hardware laptops of theirs. Like a Sony Vaio VGN-N230E. And It made laptops crash. But I'm glad Microsoft made Windows 7 that is compatible with older programs and older hardware. :)

i agree with you man, i tend to stick to gaming on game consoles though. but even so, vista is just so bulky and bloated, for me it just wouldn't be worth it in the end.

wouldn't it be epic if the makers of Firefox, VLC, and other super lightweight opensource programs, got together and made an OS?

UH yeah, bc Mac didnt steal anything from windows... name one for me. everything operates different in os x, nothing is similar. dont get me wrong , i use windows , and kinda like it. but i have always thought mac has the upper hand.its my opinio.... oh and they didnt take windows ideas, they improved the concept of the idea but made it Better.

windows didnt come out first. the Lisa OS was the first consumer Graphical User Interface. Microsoft stole the idea from Apple, who had in turn stolen it from Xerox. However Xerox stupidly gave it to Apple, and Microsoft robbed it subsequently years later from Apple. Apple had technically the "FIRST" graphics based operating system.

actually xerox invented the cursor, but never released it. Apple created the first GUI with cursor, and released it to the market before ANYONE else did. Meaning that Apple invented the cursor.

Developing this OS with netbook optimization in mind was really a great idea... The new taskbar makes it a lot more convenient since the netbooks are incredibly low-res.
