I apologize if this comment has strayed from the amazing potential findings of dark matter. Especially if it is found to make up and counter gravity, and the weak/strong force. A grand unified theory would be sooooo cool:)
I suppose I just don't forsee humans will one day be able to harness enough energy to escape the big crunch (or endless expansion). I think personally, as a whole, ppl ought to offer more help toward one another in the present, thus cultivating selflessness to an immeasurable degree. These actions would satisfy the human interest re whether or not the universe was infinite or whether or not god exists. Root out suffering. This will bring every being contentment, kindness, compassion and love.
A very recently aired BBC 'Horizon' documentary ('Everything You Know About The Universe Is Wrong') points out that 2 issues innate in the dark matter idea, namely 'dark energy' & 'dark flow', are of unique importance in working out what's going on. 'Dark matter' sent scientists back to square one, since observations show galaxies many thousand light years distant, fail to follow the Newtonian 'Laws of Motion'. Galactic spiral arms shd move more slowly than their centres, but this is not seen.
eradication of ignorance or not knowing is eradication of suffering. feeding the hungry today doesnt solve the problem of hunger. nor does alleviating the pain for a time solve the problem of pain. Knowing what causes pain and knowing how to make more food for the hungry , doing practical research and development solves issues. or we wont be able to feed 7 billion people today.
Why bother to ponder what will never be known...? If you must ponder, then why not ponder on the eradication of suffering, and what you might do to help others have less of it. Not tryin to diss anyone here btw. Just sayin
@chadkastleful This work will lead to amazing technology that will make the standard of living more than adequate for all humans in the far future. If we don't kill ourselves first. Can you imagine what technology will be like in 1000, 2000, even 10,000 years from now. If humans can make it that long it will be because of work like this. This will eventually lead to the eradication of suffering. If we can manipulate the elementary particles of our universe, we ill be able to do almost anything.
Awesome, I still believe that understanding space will explain both dark matter which I think is like lumps in space and dark energy which I think is the reason for gravity, and proof that space is infinite as increasing speed and endless expansion are in my mind a requirement of infinity. Understanding the fabric it's self will be enlightening.
Be it known there is ample food to feed every soul on our planet. Children do starve. But less then any other time per capita

Q: What is space?
A: One of the many things Ray Comfort is paid to know nothing about.

@onlylettersand0to9 Space is something god created to keep bananas in. :)

Space would be one of the few things he'd be an expert on as his head is full of it...
