Do any of the folks below even understand what Desktop Virtualization is? And why does every conversation involving Msft have to degenerate into name calling? The mention of Google/Apple/Facebook/Skype below is totally irrelevant; the major players in the Desktop Virt space are Citrix, VMWare, and Microsoft to a lesser extent.
Anyway, its quite awkward that I'm watching this on an Apple product with another Apple product connected to it. But keep up the good work, Microsoft! I didn't give up hope on you.
Microsoft is blowing cloud out of the water, they pretty much just took cloud, made it better, more convenient, and more accessible, not to mention reliable. And yes of course the fact that they purchased Skype helps them. Besides what would Skype be anymore if it fell into the hands of Apple? Apple would not think twice about making you pay for it. Keep up the good work Microsoft, i'm very excited to see how this will play out.
With growing competition, such as google chromebooks, microsoft is slowly evaporating. Should of kept that 8.5 Billion dollars from buying skype and use it towards research and development instead. Focus more on the dying Desktop OS and Mobile OS. There are less and less Microsoft brands on the shelves.
@irwin770 You certainly don't understand. Buying Skype is what will help it get back into the game of desktop and mobile by giving them access to 170 million connected users. "Slowly evaporating" is quite a sad way of describing Microsoft. Microsoft sold 350 MILLION Windows 7 licenses in just one and a half year. They are just getting started.
@Maholain That may be true. However, in contrast to revenue and share, Microsoft has not earned that well compared to other companies such as Apple.
The value of share for Microsoft has not changed for 10 years. With todays market, you rarely hear anything from Microsoft in terms of new product releases. In fact, most reviewers in Youtube and the tech blogs have been focused on new Android phones and rumours for the next iPhone.
Honestly, I don't see microsft do anything innovative with Skype
@irwin770 However, as Microsoft is mainly in the business of selling software, they make more profit on less revenue. While the share of Microsoft has not changed, this may be a good thing as it was already quite high. It's noticeable that reviewers have not focused on Microsoft lately because their releases are sort of slow. Hopefully this will change this/next year when Nokia picks up WP7.
This is why businesses use Microsoft and not Ubuntu or Mac. Sure they have their own solutions, but they are less bulletproof (not that MS is totally bulletproof)
@LMCSistemasVideos Personally, I think Microsoft are trying to say that this technology has been around for a while. This though is not ideal for consumers :-P
so it's a microsoft chromebook?
