Let me remind you that France abandonned their own people in North America to the Brits. They are the French-Canadians which are mostly located in the Canadian province of Quebec.

Canada is technically under british rule because the Queen is still the head of state according to the constitution , even though her influence is passive, like England.

The english have a prime minister like the canadians that "seem" to have power but can be underminded at any time.
