I think that if you ever happen to get a chance to look at or use the RTM of a Windows operating system, you may notice that there's no crap that companies like Dell, HP and Alienware stuff onto it. I happen to have a Dell and yes, I had alot of Dell crap on my laptop to but I was able to remove everything from Dell on my laptop but not Microsoft. I can't remove Explorer easily.

my favorite windows of all times was and still is "windows '98" .it was a time of great learning haha, the native operative system was DOS so you used to install DOS and over it you install windows 98.
so basically zhru DOS you may manage all windows 98 functions. This allowed to learn and to create new aplications, better up windows ffucntions, customized and more. But as soon as we were learning about programing, sofware , hardware etc. they came up with winxp a straight jacket.

my favorite windows of all times was and still is "windows '98" .it was a time of great learning haha, the native operative system was DOS so you used to install DOS and over it you install windows 98.
so basically zhru DOS you may manage all windows 98 functions. This allowed to learn and to create new aplications, better up windows ffucntions, customized and more. But as soon as we were learning about programing, sofware , hardware etc. they came up with winxp a straight jacket.

The personal computer era is fairly nascent and I'm sure companies like Google or some small upstart will eventually bring a viable alternative to the market. The monopoly exists because no one is willing to hedge their bets against Microsoft or Apple but Google may. Point is, it took 20 years after the first Model T car was rolled off the assembly line to give Henry Ford any competition.
