  • These are fancy rats, right?

  • @EpicTwistedOne not totally sure lol i just rescued em from a shop thats as far as i know lol

  • @milliewillyds Fancy rats are for keeping pets, where as wild ones are for feeding snakes. If you rescued em, there most likely fancy rats that are very sociable and can do tricks and such.

  • @EpicTwistedOne ah thats the difference thanks for telling me :)

  • @EpicTwistedOne Actually they COULD be Dumbo Rats.

  • @KatiesWildLife could be a mix but they never had them classic dumbo ears lol

  • @milliewillyds Can you do a video on how to litter train a rat?

  • @KatiesWildLife The Dumbo rat is a breed of fancy rat.

  • @EpicTwistedOne cool

  • @EpicTwistedOne sorry i can't at the moment as i haven't got any rats anymore :P

  • How much was this cage if you don't mind me asking and is 4 rats harder to maintain than 2?

  • @VinceNF1488 i was given it but i would think its about 60 pound in shops, as long as the rats arn't ill its pretty easy to care for them, its better to get 4 brothers or four sisters so they get along better which each other, I only have 3 rats left now and they have a breathing problem so i have to give medicine to them quiet a bit then the one i hand reared her teeth need cutting every other day

  • @milliewillyds Thanks for such a quick response it's just I've seen you can get 4-5ft fish tanks really cheap on Ebay and was wanting to know where the best place is to buy a large rat cage just you look on the net and I don't fancy paying like 300-400 quid haha, how many rats max could you fit in your cage?

  • @VinceNF1488 np :D well bargain sites tbh, used cages are just as fine as new ones :) o about 5 in my cage or a mum with babies :)

  • is that shavings??

  • @irnbru57 yip

  • At night I cover my rat cage up with a thin towel to keep out the light but in the morning they always pull parts of it through the cage and chew on it. Is this safe?

  • @barrels4ever101 yes its fine! mine do it all the time

  • @barrels4ever101 As long as they arnt eating it this is safe my rats usually just chew it as they try to pull it in to use it to nest

  • @JonesGal14 yip my 3 do that too

  • I just got a rat cage as a suprise with everything in it, and something stinks..... the bedding is newspaper and i cant see a hide and i believe it's a male and its mostly on ground resting or something, is it possible to make the smell go away just abit, couse i'm kinda holding my nose it was told me be tame, but i'm kinda scared of it:/ and i have 3 snakes in the same room btw, and they might notice the smell, should i give the snake a bath? or is it the cage?

  • @TheFishKeeper100 clean everything, and if theres still a smell get the stuff from the vets which is like a perfume for animals or smelly wipes you can get, give ya snakes a bath as well in normal water though

  • @TheFishKeeper100 put the cage in warm water with soap and let it sit including plastic toys for abit in the tub this should help!

  • Is it alright to use whole newspapers as flooring in the cage? I make sure to take out the clips. I will ofcourse add shredded paper for bedding too!

  • @Zambaku yes sure its fine

  • where did you get the cage from?

  • @MichaelMusicGamerGuy I was given it with 3 rats i rescued. you can usually get these at petshops or online :)

  • @milliewillyds do you have any idea what it is called, or who made it?

  • @milliewillyds feriplast?

  • oops ***Rats

  • My rats smell and my parents hate it. I clean the cage quite often. Any ideas?

  • @horselover8408 have you bleached the cage? and scrubbed everything? i remember having 3 males in the door of my bedroom and my dad made me put them in the shed within a weeek because they stank that much! and i know rats fur is water proof , but maybe washing its back end in baby shampoo to mild the smell a bit.

  • @milliewillyds Well Thanks i'll try the bleach idea.

  • @horselover8408 Try using smellin'good by super pet it smeells like bay powder its like animal safe freebreeze! one squirt on the cage a day

  • @Smiley3591 Aww thanks, well if you want more babies in 3 weeks keep the dad in, if not take him out! Thanks for watching!

  • what typ of cage is that?

  • @firebelliedfreak no idea sorry! lol! i was given it when i rescued some rats!

  • how big should your cage be if your getting six rats 3 male 3 females should i buy 3 cages 1 for the male 2 for the females 3 breeding

  • @erickaist if you get 4 cages, so you can place one male and one female in each one, then when the girls are pregnant take all the boys out and put them in the spare cage.. im not gareenteing they will get on though after being exposed to females, they will want to mate.. by leaving the girls in there own cage each they will have plenty of room to raise there young. usually if the girls are placed all together to give birth the others will kill the babies.

  • @erickaist

    No rat should be alone...

  • @Zombelina666 in groups the babies have better chances of surviving, males are fine together, people say you can't keep male mice together i have 50 together without a problem in the world

  • @milliewillyds

Not the tats SHOULD be alone...No rat should ever be alone...I see how that came off wrong. I have 6 females who live togther...I couldn't imagine having them alone it would be so sad!

  • @Zombelina666 yip totally, it upsets me to see my male alone, but if i put him with my girls tones of un-wanted babies will be produced, and if i get him castrated he's a bit to old for that!

  • Cute c: I am getting 2 rattehs in april X3

  • @AquaPearl10 cool

  • Love it!

  • @TheawsomeAJ thanks

  • Other females +Nursing female is a BAD IDEA!

Also softwood shavings are a nono! BIG NONO!

  • @Ingiequeen I have been breding rats for 7 years and they are fine with it ,the wood shavings are fine, as i have used care fresh as some one 'recommended' it and they had serious allergic attacks! And like mice all of the mums happily chip in, and if i feel the babies are not ok like here, i did take them out later that day, and they have all happily grown up and gone to loving homes! so sorry, im not really going to take your advice as i have already took someones and it went horribly wrong.

  • @milliewillyds

Just going by what most ethical breeders, rescuers and rat people generally reccomend.

There is so much researched evidence to prove the damage pine and cedar shavings do to a rats respiratory systems.

Anyway, never meant to sound harsh, just was some advice. But like you said, your not going to take it right ;).

  • @Ingiequeen I know, but I can't find any other bedding there not allergic to. Well annoying! And I have the old males, and everytime i try to change theres, there skin gets irritated. I am putting a video up soon of the on i rescued, and even the vet can't cure his manyky dirty skin :( I really don't know what to do with them anymore! And I have to pin one of the female rats down every week and chop her teeth, hence swollen face! Arghhhhhhh

  • @milliewillyds

Try good old fashion newspaper, it's free, and very low allergenic.

  • @Ingiequeen i put that underneath, but the problem with all of my animals is that they all like to eat newspaper and plastic! Even though they have there food tasty chew sticks the lot! they still want to eat it lol! so just loads of newspaper and sheaded paper on top,. cool i will try that for a couple of weeks, see if the sniffily noses and coughing will stop, is there anyother bedding besides that and blankets, which i will probably throw in a few that there is so they are comfie?

  • @milliewillyds

You can try a bedding called "Back 2 Nature" Assuming you live in the UK, it is available at Pets @ home stores.

Otherwise Polar fleece is also very good, and very pretty :D.

  • @Ingiequeen cool, cause we are a reptile holiday home, and also a rescue centre for reptiles i can go to the cash and carry and get every thing as cheap as chips, i will check it out next time i go, i got loads of shredded paper, I have an unlimited supply, my school throws it at me as much as i want lol!

  • @milliewillyds

Wait...So...Do you breed your rats for the snakes?

  • @Ingiequeen nope no chance about that , even when there first born there to big. no i feed my snakes mice from the freezer.

  • ok ill try it. thank you

  • i have a question does the peace of paper give the rats paper cuts?

i want to put paper but im wondering about paper cuts.

  • @weeze999 i have never noiced them getting them, im sure if its a nice quality paper, you shouldn't have the problem.

  • Have you ever put hammocks in there? My rats love them :)

  • @ThaRatChick yep, but they ate them lool
