That's a lot of clothing for casual wear. Nice to learn about this. From all the old Japanese movies I saw I thought the kimono was for very formal occasions.
You say that people wear the kimono as casual wear, do many of your friends wear kimono's or are they for certain occasions? So if you walk outside with the kimono will you get strange looks from people?
You should show us some styles of obi ties. That's the most fascinating part. I collected kimono for a while, was always insane what you had to do to get the bow tied. lol

Some really fancy ones can. But you can get casual ones for really cheap. Kimono used to be common everyday wear in Japan, remember.
