There's nothing exactly wrong with Sauron showing up, except for the fact the book says he doesn't. I'm in no way a purist, even though I love the books, and I'm sure Tolkien would have had the Necromancer's presence in some way if he knew what he would do with LotR beforehand, but he didn't. I think Jackson is very skilled in making great character progression, and you have to really look at both film series like one REALLY long movie.

@AguyinaRPG I agree and from what iv read on forums when gandalf leaves the hobbits and dwarves half way through the book (it doesn't say in the book but from what iv read from tolkien experts) is that gandalf and the white council attack sauron in dol guldur and i think this what she mentions in this clip aswell as the battle of five armies. so basically this stuff is happening during the time of the hobbit but it just wasn't wrote in the books :) (battle of five armies is in the hobbit book)

I think it's great that Peter is adding stuff from the LotR appendices for the Hobbit movie to turn into a more obvious "prequel" to LotR. However, I have a feeling that he will also throw in a few extra elven armies of his own making here and there in the story because of his twisted elf-fetisch. PR: "wouldn't it be awesome if Glorfindel and Gildor lead a squad of ninja elf commandos that rescue Bilbo from the giants??" FW: "no!" PR: "but I want it!, its my movie!"

As a producer in film, it's my style to always tie in stories that are related. It's been my style since the new millenium. I've done it with the X-Men series tying it in with Wolverine, and I'm doing it now with Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, & The Avengers.
