trek1500 thats actually the worst place to pull as the spine there has no support from ribs. Please look up "x back harness" on google before you give advice like that to beginners. Almost every dog on these youtube videos are using them.
FYI. We do not use this blue harness any longer. We have an X-back harness now. This was NOT a "training" video. It was a video of my playing with my dog. He is not pulling with this harness because I am pedaling. I would not recommend a harness other than an X-back harness.
I made up a harness for my huge golden retriever so he could pull me on my bike and roller skates, once we got going fast, he would stop and attack me. Ah, this brings back fond memories.
I really do like these harnesses, I feel like we have good control, and nothing is digging into his spine or neck. (I really disliked that blue harness, because when he pulled.. which is ALWAYS.. even on walks.. it the buckle appeared to dig into his spine.. I will def. take a look at that outfitter you mentioned for more cool gear... He is my baby, and gets whatever will make his life more enjoyable. Thanks for all the great info

I get my gear from Kondos Outdoors Ely mn. It's good gear, good price, you'll run your dog more I promise. I love your attitude.

if you get a harness your dog will pull from back by his hips. He is being pulled off balance by pulling above his shoulders.
p.s You are an encouraging musher, good job.
