  • tell us the link please if you didn't we'll consider it fake

  • tell me for dreamcast emulator psp

    just tell me a link

  • how did you get emulator dreamcast for psp

    please tell me

  • you know the link to download,, i want play soul calibur 1 in psp (isn t don t soul edge) please?

  • ryu hazuki with no fucking face oh thats so .......shiit

  • shenmue is toooo powerful 4 psp!!! shyt matter fact its to powerful for ps3!! XD

  • can You please release alpha builds like Daedalusx64 please?

  • Sega,Capcom,Konami and the great developers who have made great game on dreamcast should rewrite some of them on psp an almost good example was powerstone collection

  • @Lilzachman or crazy taxi 1 and 2 came to psp in one game, crazy taxi fare wars

  • LOL who invented this peice of trash.... Kidding

NullDC is a great emulator but its just not fit for the psp. Im hoping though someone can work around this. Im not that great with the video cards and computers needed to run these types of things. I know though even some netbooks have trouble running these things because of the graphics card or processor and thats probably the case with the psp atm.

I give credit for trying though. I still want Shenmue 3 to come out >.>

  • damn its slow it neeeds improvements

  • Its a real shame its not playable but its good to see someones tried it.

    Great job.

  • @ROBisCLEMO86

so the nullDC project was stopped?

there's no dreamcast emulater for psp?

  • @ROBisCLEMO86 You're missing the big picture, it IS, in a certain sense of the word, "playable."

  • @gorillazhead I guess.

I hope this will work for the NGP/Vita.

    Should get a better result.

  • @ROBisCLEMO86 Oh no contest, the Vita will have PS2 emulation support, so emulating the DC should be a piece of cake.

  • ok, for the people who are calling the other people idiots GTFO...

Point is people are trying and it dosen't matter weather or not a system is more powerful or not then the other system, because both systems run differently, That's why it's called EMULATION.

You can't take a PC program and run it on a MAC straight out of the box. Hell and those of you that followed Genesis emulation, remember how long it took for people to figure out how to EMU Sega CD because of the dual processor factor?

  • for all the idiots out there

n64 is less powerfull than the DC

look how bad the N64 emu is

an xbox can run a few N64 games @ fullspeed & thats at least twice as powerfull as the psp ram/cpu/gpu/sound wise

so what chance does the psp have with a DC?

why not just buy a dreamcast? sure you cant play with it on the go but still

i picked one up for £5 with a game, just needed a new remote i picked up for £4 with a VMU :)

plus the DC dont need chipping/flashing to play backups :P

  • Ya, best off buying a $300 ePC notbook and play NullDC on that. Thats the easiest way to have Portable DC gaming.

  • It's amazing that they have gotten this far though.

  • lol i know

  • i want to play jet set radio at my psp

  • OMG MEE 2!!!!!!!!!! Was looking 4 it 2day on my psp

  • jet set radio= BADASS

  • Comment removed

  • @TheMonkeynaut

lol. it's the only reason why i'm even loking for this

  • If this emu on the PSP was in its prime it MIGHT be able to run at 1/3 speed to 1/2 WITHOUT sound.

This fail is so damn good its almost a victory.

  • dude where's his head??

  • Where's the DC emulator for Xbox? They said that couldn't be done but they have it on a psp?

  • Oh My..... HEADLESS RYU!

  • I don't see the point in this emulator. The PSP simply isn't powerful enough to give an enjoyable gaming experience when emulating DC games.

  • it´s possible since the PSP it´s a a little more powerfull, but just a little, so the emulator have to be in a advance stage.

  • The PSP more powerful than DC? Are you kidding me?

  • yeah, PSP got a CPU of 333mhz and DC got a CPU of 200MHZ and graphic card of the PSP got 2MB VRAM and 166MHZ and Dreamcast got 8VRAM and 100MHZ and PSP still has the 64MB of RAM so it's possible

  • No...it's not possible. You simply CANNOT compare the two based on clockspeed alone as they use entirely different types of processors.

    Here's the facts:

PSP games look as good as they do because they are developed for low definition resolution (272p, a widescreen LD variant). DC games? They're developed for ED (enhanced def) resolution of 480p. No PSP game has as high resolution textures, etc. as DC games due to that fact alone. Eyes trick folsk. Put a PSP TV out side by side with DC...

  • ...and you'll see the difference between the two.

Full speed emulation of DC on PSP is not possible. At all. End of story.

  • But it's possible to run at a decent speed ;D

  • No, it's not. Unless you think single digit speed with various bugs is "decent".

  • LOL what a joker, PSP isn't more powerful than DreamCast get the facts straight.

  • Yes it is.

The PSP has two MIPS R4000 cpus, each running at up to 333MHz, 2 custom graphics cores each running at 166MHz, and a 166MHz sound DSP.

In contrast, the Dreamcast has a 200MHz SH-4, a PowerVR2 gpu, and an AMR7 for sound. It also has a bit less RAM overall.

Just the second graphics core on the PSP is far more powerful than the PowerVR2.. I'm not bashing the Dreamcast though, it's my favorite console of all time.

  • The PSP uses two 333 MHz CPUs along wth a GPU with 2 MB onboard VRAM running at 166 MHz, with 32 MB main RAM and 4 MB embedded DRAM in total

it is perfectly possible we just have to get the thing "just right" by having every aspect of it converted to the psp's main drive.

  • two 333 MHz CPUs

    Nope

1 MIPS R4000 that can be softclocked upto 333MHz

Gigaflops wise it's more powerful than a DC (around 1.7~2x) however emulation will make it alot slower as its emulating another core (SH4)

  • There is a second rarely used CPU called the media engine that is also clocked at 333MHz but it is impossible to debug so it never gets used in homebrew aside from a few things like SNES9x TYL uses it for sound emulation etc.

  • My apologies, I have searched and have indeed found many pages that refer to the media engine. I admit I was wrong and the PSP does indeed appear to have 2 R4000's.

    :)

  • It will most likely never be used for something like this as it is very complex to emulate the DC and the 2nd CPU is impossible to debug and has little/no documentation.

  • But that's just comparing the CPUs. Comparing the GPUs is a different matter altogether. You've got to emulate the SH4, the PowerVR CLX2, the Yamaha sound processor, etc. It's not an easy task, and will most likely never run at truly playable speeds on PSP.

  • Exactly, people who don't really follow the in-depth process of emulation just don't get those factors. but at least people are trying and though it may never get there there are alot of things developers of firmware and emus can learn from this for future projects.

  • How to download emulator NullDC for PSP?

  • SUPA FASTER!

  • I want a link some1 send me 1

  • here's how i understand it. the DC was next gen like ps2 xbox1 and gamecube so the PSP is somewhere between PSX and that generation of consoles. it wouldn't work because there's no way PSP can compete with that era of games. even though i would LOVE to put my foot in my mouth if i'm wrong because man i'd love to have a working dream cast in my PSP

  • they said the same thing about n64 emu and look at it now on the psp. When it comes to psp homebrew i stopped being surprised and amazed cause it gets tiring after the 10000th time.

  • LOL surprise surprise Hes a walking zombie with no head!! That pretty cool though all those great games on dreamcast if they can only be played on the palm of my hand :)

  • Though this is neat and I encourage to keep trying the psp doesn't have the power the dreamcast had, and won't be able to handle it. Its neat though, if sony does (and knowing them they probably will) create a sequal to psp then it might be able to run the games at a playable quality IF it is substantially upgraded.

  • I agree. well I speak to a sony rep from time to time and they tell me that it'll be a while till we see a new console... it happens every 5 years from the last console is made. Sony suppors their systems for a total of 10 years, after 5 of those 10, sony releases a new console and supports the old console for 5 more years. so when that console is at it's end, and the next one hits it's 5, the cycle stats again.

  • a ver:

  • That's a culturally ignorant statement Your kind of people make me laugh, dude.

  • Wow like 1fps and lol he has no head.

  • OOOOOOOOH!!! NICe:D

  • That's pretty cool stuff, keep up the good work man be cool if you can get it to run. to those dissing the guy for trying, you guys are lame. At least he's trying! what are you guys doing? nothing. Weather it is possible or impossible is not the point, think about what programmers and developers of emulators CAN learn from doing such, as you guys say, "POINTLESS" projects. Atleast they learn, hands on, what the capabilities of such hardware can do. So all you haters GTFO.

  • well said :D

it would be cool to play Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 and also Resident Evil: Code Veronica on my PSP :D

  • is there a link to this emu so we can try it ourselves? i've been looking forward to this for a long time =)

  • Why do the PSP? They should perfect the PC version first, then do a dedicated PSP port after imo. I do have a PSP though

  • This is bullshit, absolutely impossible. This is PC emulation.

  • No. drk||Raziel, the creator of nullDC, is indeed working on a PSP port of nullDC.

  • hey, if i did buy shenmue, would it work on my pc with null dc or chankast, or is their some gdcd problem or sumthing

  • Who came up with this? there's no way to emulate the Dreamcast at full speed using the PSP! I mean the PSP only has 133mhz more of CPU than the Dreamcast itself and it only has 16mb more of ram...the PSP would have to be at least somewhere around 1-2ghz and have like 512mb of ram at least to run the emulator at decent speed.

  • actually psp hardware and dreamcast hardware is similar to each other.

and the bit archetecture is the same so its very possible but you would need alot of coding experience.

  • Negatory.

Dreamcast used Hitachi SH-4 CPU clocked at 200Mhz. PSP runs on a 333 Mhz MIPS CPU.

Simply emulating the CPU would require so much grunt from the PSP games would be almost unplayable.

  • well we will see soon enough because this is real, goto the official NullDC site and they have a download thingy on the right side. but it's not decided yet

  • WOW!Play Dreamcast's Shenmue on PSP!OO

  • Is there any chance of speeding up the gameplay speed?

  • This is pretty freaking impressive.

  • i try play this game on nulldc 1.6 beta it plays at 200 percewnt speed :( and i dont no hwo to fix it

  • There is no neck.

  • marvel vs capcom 2 people

  • yeah, but mainly soul calibur

  • I pray to the Gaming Gods this happens, I've been feeling a Dreamcast emulator in the making for awhile now. My predictions have been freakishly right so far. If I'm right this time, I might as well join the carnival.

  • That's awesome!

Keep up the good work and good luck!!

  • LOL! How is this even possible! Dude you got some major talent to make the game even boot up!

  • xq esta en camara lenta????? xD

  • Amazing, It must have taken alot of effort to make this emulator even running.

I doubt we`ll ever see it running on full speed with sound, but with frameskip this might actually become playable one day.

If not, "Chu chu rocket" is a still fun game:)

  • lol 64 megs of ram + dreamcast = AINT HAPPENIN!!..end of story...dreamcast will need at least 256 megs of ram to run decent...the fact that n64 isnt running full speed on psp yet should tell u something......

  • 200MHz/300MHz=not fucking happening.

  • Unless my sources are wrong, the Dreamcast has a whopping 26mb of total memory.

  • it could be possible since a psp slim has enough ram to run it. it has 64mb of ram while the phat psp has 32mb

  • it takes a lot more than ram, sbrankin. psp doesn't have enough power to emulate it at a playable speed, and it never will. we'll have to wait for the next generation of portables, or wait for someone to port DC games

  • i got confused there thanks for putting me on the right track MalamuteKid.

  • i honestly don't see the point. the psp will never be able to fully emulate DC, so y bother with all the programming?

  • y are they trying the huge games..they would get better results on the eailer dc games like sonic adventure or blue streak.dead or alive 2 and shenmue are one of the harder games to emulate

  • Yay this would be good, had goodtimes on my Dreamcast with Shenmue an Soul Calibur, to bad I sold it.. anyway its good to know this is in development for the PSP. Ryo has been decapitated LMAO!!

  • oh yeah!great speed there!

i seriously doubt it will ever run as fast as needed to be able to play so this is kind of a waste of time dont you think?

  • Guys don't get excitecd yet.Its gonna take a few months of updating and tweeking before it can even get to 50FPS.So its gonna be awhile before it can even reacg playable speed if it can get to atleast 24FPS thats a huge improvement.Let just wait and see.

Nevermind the fact that getting Isos or bin files for the Dreamcast roms are gonna be hard your most likley gonna have to use a torrent or somesort to get the game to add to the emulator.

  • its got the same exact buttons as the dreamcast controller, so atleast the controlls wont be screwed up

  • This reminds me of the good old days... When nullDC for PC was running at similar speeds.

It turned out fast enough though so don't be so fast on judging already. Speed can reach playable levels... most likely not fullspeed on PSP, but it will be fast. Don't be fooled by the slowness! :p

  • can you play marvel vs capcom 2 on this?

  • man i love my psp i hope this project goes all the way and i can p;ay shenmue1 once again

  • Well you can play sonic adventure 2 if you like 1-3 fps.

  • i love shenmue but i think it's completely impossible to emulate a game that ocupies 3 cds:?

    or does it get compressed?

  • This looks quite awesome although sluggish but I assume the dev's are working out a lot of that.

  • Now i want a psp emulator for te dreamcast :p

  • uh should we do a fully working n64 emulator first? O_o

  • dreamcast running at decent speeds is very very possible on psp. the coder knows that the people will be running it on a pre-determined range of hardware. its all about scaling down the settings to match those of the psp while re-writting thousands of lines of code to make it doable for the psp to handle.

this project can be successful only if we have a dedicated community of coders for the psp.

  • keep up the good work

Oh let me know if you need a beta tester

  • whys he missing his head?

  • they killed his father, everybody in situation like this missing head

  • Nice job ;)

  • Very nice. Something I thought I'd never see happen has happened. Shenmue on PSP. Hopefully the emulator will be fullspeed(MIGHT be possible on PSP, NOT gonna argue about it with ANYONE) or Near fullspeed.

Keep up the Good work. Someone somewhere, is crying outta joy. lol

  • Oh snap

  • Nice man i wud have nevr thot that the dc wud b posible on the psp and if u need any other coders or beta testers just ask man.

  • hahaha Ryo is headless

  • pandora port ftw?

  • Oh my god, when it takes that long to load and even then when the cutscene is buggy and VERY very slow, why even bother.

In saying that though it's very comendable trying to keep dreamcast games alive like this

  • Now that is insane... but I applaud that you have the balls to attempt to get DC working on a PSP O_O

  • Awesome start.
