I read someone online mention "double unders" so I came to youtube to see what the hell he was talking about. Imagine my surprise to learn Ive been doing "double unders" for decades....silly me has been calling it "jump roping" all this time.
Dude, the best DU I've managed until today was one spastic, flailing DU. I watched your video before our WOD and strung THREE DUs out of nowhere. I was so excited I threw down my rope and yelled, "HOLY SHIT I JUST DID THREE!!" I wasnt even sure if the rope was still moving since every attempt prior was a crash n burn, I just kept whipping it around... AND IT KEPT GOING!!! Awesome video!

Can anybody reccommend a jump rope? I had the Power Systems Boa but it was stolen and I recently purchased the UFC weighted one (I removed the weights).
you might want to check out our ropes at punkrope(dot) com. they're inexpensive and relatively fast. we've trained thousands of jumpers to do double unders and are currently working with the owner of a CrossFit here in NYC. unless you're a superb jumper I would stay away from cable ropes. they are very hard to control.
I've been struggling with these for several months. I couldn't get more than 2-3 in a row. Now I'm on my way to more. I can consistently get several with the singles in between. Thank you!
Wow! I learned to jump rope in a boxing gym in Texas, but you implement a few differences that actually make me better at doing this. Thank you so much. Ain't too old to learn.
What kind of rope is that? I've used the cheap everlast ones - they were good but last very little, I tried the expensive buddy lee, but I trip up when I do double unders. I have a nike one, that I'm pretty good with but it's a tad bit heavy
@naveslaikss good argument. It takes more arm strength to whip a longer rope. If you're able to do it with a longer rope, it takes more coordination and wrist strength.
@naveslaikss how is that in anyway a refutation of what I said? He's doing it fast and with high intensity. The fact that he can do it with more resistance than you simply means he's better at it, not that "he sucks". Once you're able to do the rx'd reps with double unders your choices to make it harder are a longer rope, increase reps or manage a triple.
Kickass video, I've been driving myself nuts with trying to learn these at Crossfit. Makes a hell of a lot more sense when you break it down like you did, thanks!!!
