Samurai shodown is by far the most overrated game on this list,its so annoying listening to annoying angry retrogamers whine about how the first samurai shodown was so amazing compared to the newer ones.

so i had to play it. Ok- terrible graphics, Terrible framerate (2 frames per second) unfair gameplay(possible to win by constantly spamming low slide kick. unbalanced characters, and completly unfair moves like hanzels jump all the way to sky and takes off half your health, no way of blocking it

someone help me! i used to play a fighting game as a kid, i dont remember the name, i do remember it was the 3 of the franchise though, i only remember the player standing on top of some sort of monument when beating the game, you could be a man with a scythe, a man with a huge mace, he would be upgraded in to some sort of robot once you completed the game as him, you could be all sorts of characters with guns and stuff, there was a guy with a chainsaw too, it has the graphics of tekken 2-3

MK is fantastic, but at the time of this video 5/8 canon games were crap. Even today, it's just 5/9.

You also gotta factor in worldwide appeal and long life tournament play. This is why SF is always number 1, it's STILL heavily played in almost all versions.

Lastly, Super Smash Bros. and Power Stone are brawler/party games, they don't count.

MK is nice and all, but it didn't innovate much in fighting games, it's nice where it is. But what i didn't agree was the fact that Smash Brothers weren't even on the list. @hyfynorris Smash bros. doesn't count due to it being a group fighter using smash moves to knock an opponent off the stage. This is a countdown for one on one fighting, just one fighter in combat with another in order to drain their health bar to kill or k.o them. While smash brothers can be played with up to 4 people and you jump around the whole stage to raise the damage percent to throw them off. So they're completely different and thats why no matter how fun the game is it doesn't apply here
