  • BTW- here youtube.com/watch?v=fZ9rJuN-Zqo is simple and really cool video :)

  • does anybody know what is the name if this song now? i can't find it using phrases of the tekst.. thanx a lot in adbvace! :)

BTW- the face of the guy as a cocept of video..seems to be really gay ;-)

  • what a ..??!!!

  • Would you care to explain how you uploaded the song three days before the album was released?

Josh, or whoever you are, this isn't "Moment of Surrender".

  • @Giantsfan2104 very carefuly, Youtube wanted to put a different song on here

  • a great song from a mediocre album

  • @kellykinsellives How is the album mediocre? It has 4 of the best U2 songs ever in it.

    1 - Magnificent

2 - No line on the horizon

    3 - Moment of surrender

4 - Crazy "How to dismantle" and "All that you can't leave behind" were the two most mediocre and sugar-pop albums made for easy-listeners and radio friendly.

This album was not radio-friendly and most of today's listeners are teeny-bopper generation who do not appreciate true talent and ingenuity in lyrics, music and melody.

  • @SpeedKlz it was mediocre becaue only Moment of Surrender was one of their best. The other 3 on your list were all pretty much junk. Only Fez Being Born was new and fresh and good but they don't even play that one live

Face it, u2 suck now and are a shadow of what they used to be. The album sales prove my point. The tour is only selling ouot because ppl want to hear the old songs. in fact, during the US leg U2 started to play more older songs cuz audiences wanted them not new crap

  • @kellykinsellives are you a weirdo?..you have an odd obsession with u2.

  • Totally agreed, could listen to this over and over, never seem to get tired of it, thanks :)

  • dlw9960: A beautiful melody, great lyrics, haunting and dark meaning with amazing vocal performances by Bono make this song the best since "one". Yes, I like "Achtung Baby" more than any other U2 album in my shelf. SUE ME SONNY BOY!

  • dlw9960: Yes I have every single U2 album sonny boy from war to NLOH! I have listened to every single of their songs. While originally "Joshua Tree" made me a U2 fan, nothing else compares to "Achtung Baby" because it was revolutionary and nothing like U2 had ever done. It was dark, sarcastic, haunting. Above all, Achtung baby containes "one".

  • This song brings tears to my eyes!! If you listen to the meaning of the lyrics, it is crushingly heartbreaking!

    Best U2 song since one!

  • Yep, great song. Great lyrics, great melody, great emotions. Get on Your Boots was a horrible song. Magnificent should have been the first single.

  • favourite song of the album, Love it :)

  • I think this song is brilliant. And so inspiring. I'll be forever grateful to U2.

  • @dragonhousebook

    and brian eno.

  • Opening image on this upload should be titled.... "The Lunatic fringe"

  • im not a fan of u2, but this song is great!!

  • @sjilera all thanks to brian eno.

  • Wow...everyone's entitled to their opinion but the fact that anybody thinks this is one of U2's best just absolutely blows me away. If you want emotion in your music, go back and listen to "War", "The Unforgettable Fire", "The Joshua Tree", or even "All That You Can't Leave Behind". While "Moment of Surrender" may be a lyrical masterpiece, songs are words AND music. Musically, "Moment of Surrender" reminds me of U2 in the late 80's; stale and out of new ideas.

  • dlw9960? who chooses a username like that?

    You're a troll.

  • Now, the boy is entitled to his own opinions, is he not?

  • ...and who said he wasn't?

I'm as entitled to my own opinion.

  • @dlw9960 Oh fuck off!

  • I agree!! I absolutely love this song!! Best song!! Lyrics are so raw with emotion.. LOVE IT!!!!! ... and yes, i have been a HUGE fan since the mid-1980's :)

  • Plus je l'ecoute et plus je l'aime!!!!!!

  • i disagree. you obviously haven't listened to there new album

  • Your are just a dumba** troll!! Nothing more. This song has been voted as the best song of 2009 by many publications such as, NME, RollingStones etc.

There has not been a dark song like this since "Achtung Baby" in 15 years by U2.

When Metallica themselves voted for this song as the "best song of the decade" at RollingStones, it shows how special song this is

  • I actually think this is the best song I've ever heard.

  • If you like this song, look for the live performance of it in Gelsenkirchen, Germany 2009. The sound was incredible and Bono was pure heart on this one. I don't think there were many people around us who didn't feel it.

We were lucky to have had such a soulful performance at that concert.

  • wow...this song is one of the greatest lyrical performances of all time. amazing.

  • beautiful song...I wonder how it would go if you played this song for a boy/girl you really like...

  • you would probably end up getting your pee pee stimulated in some way if you were a boy. LOL

  • LOL. There is something creepy about him isn't there

  • LMFAO!!!!!!

  • mos def. 8P

  • Like your Moment of Surrender upload, too. :)

  • Whats with the creepy looking pedophile?

  • HAHAHA! PEDOPHILE!??? Heeheeheeeeeee!

  • @UPASR I agree. Keep the creepy looking pedophiles out of rock and roll. Put them back in the Catholic Church where they belong.

  • @UPASR I think bono is in the band

  • love this song ! can't wait 2c them sep 29th yay !!!!

  • i love this song thanx!! i needed it tonight

  • This song has become one of my favourite U2 songs ever... words cannot describe how good it is...

  • seen 'em in berlin 2009 =)

    was very nice!

  • Delete your chanel

  • lol

  • One of the best U2 song ever!!! Love it

  • Subnormal

  • bio i ja u zgu predobro bilo uh...:)...

  • fenomenalna stvar! uživala sam na koncertu u zagrebu!! veliko hvala bonu i ekipi!

  • aa predobro je bilo u zg-u :D:D

  • CAncerous seve ballesteros - that is the only 3 words i can think of!u are the spit of him.waNKER

  • why do u think of the pics ... the song is perfect so just minimize it and do something else while u listen to the music ... so your the cocks .

  • Well I like that you put this on here. Forget what all these other retards say. They are obviously haters of life and there the ones that go around to others profiles and post crap. Thats there entertainment.Sad I know. But props for posting this. U2ROCKS!!

  • fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkk you

  • ... who are you

  • U2 are great but why would i want to watch a picture of a man. Get a fucking life u cock

  • awsome so euphoric,up there with ONE

  • Dołujący kawałek....

  • "junk masquerading as art"?!

so you may not like Bono or the rest of the crew, but to be honest i challenge you to stay at the top of your game for 30 years.

if you don't like U2 why are you on a U2 video listening to their music to all of the people who are slating them. You clearly can't stay away from Bono or his charming good looks!

  • very cool

  • One of their best songs!

  • WHAT"S WITH THE MUG SHOT?!

  • thanks for posting.

  • awesowe.

  • this is one of the best songs!

  • comment about the song not about your fucking boring life pieces of shit... 5/5

  • A new masterpeace of this fantastic band!

  • great, now every time i listen to this song i'm gonna think of his face

  • lol that is soo true i used to love this song :D

  • A 46 year old wastes his time to come here and pour vitriol on a band he "obviously" doesn't like.

I tend to "indicate around" things I don't like, daub; - but you like collisions?

1: Opinions aren't currency, we all have a pocketful anytime we need them.

2: Get an adult life. Bono has obviously imprinted himself enough in your zenophobic consciousness to have you so angry. I'd say, "job done, Bono"

3: "Sexless" is juvenile whines from a middleaged man.

  • WTF is this SHIT??!!! Why do I see all kinds of FUCKIN BULLSHIT like your FUCKIN DIATRIBE when I wanna listen to fuckin Music. STFU U fuckin TWAT and listen or BEAT IT!

  • tube:

You "listen" with your ears, not your fingers.

I suggest you lube your tube and go use those fingers for something other than typing. A friend of Daubs?...... how cute.

  • WhoDoYouLove..A 43 year old wastes his time pouring vitriol on a 46 year gal (sorry for the gender mistake honey, you really must have problems in your personal life) because she criticises a 46 year man fronting his juvenile obsession and then suggests that she get an adult life. Ha ha ha! What a hypocrite. Rock and roll as i'm sure you don't know began as a euphemism for sex. The sexless Bono & U2, junk masquerading as art. Enjoy. Daubrey Jane.

  • The plot thickens... a sexless FEMALE whinger who turns up to pour vitriol on a band SHE obviously doesn't like...will that do? Have I corrected any gender discrimination issues?

I really would stick to things you like, because you're a waffling sack of cattiness when you don't. So you want your "sex" icons forever young? Fair enough, you'll get what your looking for on the porn sites - good hunting and enjoy.

  • WhoDoYouLove... My sexless little dwarf, my poisonous little potato head, age has never been an issue for me. Bono was never a "sex icon" even when he was young. Going to bed with Bono would be like screwing Fagin. If you want to sleep with Bono that's fine i really don't have a problem with that, all i question is your taste. As for the rather tacky comment regarding porn sites,i'm sure as a middle aged sexually repressed Irish Catholic you have far more expertise than i. Love & Kisses DJ

  • Oh my! Forgive me... etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, it was a "rather tacky comment" from this Irish bog trotting peasant - profuse apologies to you, my sweet tongued Faerie Queene. I kiss my rosary beads and your feet in obsequious, famine bedraggled sorrow at the affront to your goodly beknighted name.

But hark! is that Fagin finding his moment now to escape your bed where he's been a Particular kind of slave now since first you chained him to it? Alas, poor Fagin to be so awkwardly abused.

  • WhoDoYouLove...Mmmh!!! The man knows Edmund Spenser, he must be a force!! Loved the pastiche even if it has leanings toward doggerel. Then i always did have a weakness for Irish poets. Or maybe it was irony or base sarcasm, i never can tell. Or to paraphrase 'Sympathy For The Devil', you might just be a man of wealth and taste. Shame about your liking for U2 though. Yeats with an electric guitar would be better. This charming gal Daubrey Jane

  • I likewise think I've met my match... meaning we might kill a perfect moment of grudging mutual respect if we take this further.

So I'll grant you a final wish and withdraw the word "sexless" from my lips. Maybe that's because I find words sexy and you certainly do have an arsenal of them, ready to purr and eviserate with an equal passion. Nothing left to say other than we're never likely to meet in the middle, but then, the middle is a cowardly place to hang a flag. Pleasant sailing Jane.

  • Dear WhoDoYouWant..Gracious man. I bid you a fond adieu, i believe it's time to fly.

I wish you, an endless blue horizon.

    Daubrey Jane

  • daubreyjaneweirdsley...just curious who do you like..since you feel U2 is "truley worthless." and there front man is "Bloated by his own sense of self importance." been following U2 since 1979 not only do they reinvent themselves on every album but arn't afraid of Change in there music or vocals..however there one constent has been great music and meaningful lyrics and have never let down there fans..and for those fans that have been let down by there change..."We" dont need them,...

  • Yet with all these faults U2 manages to connect us with the higher emotions of joy, love and hope. I absolutely love U2 and I don't care if they have imperfections. There's a certain divinity embedded in the music. I'm sorry you don't hear it.

  • Good reply KL, taking the high road. Typical of an authentic U2 fan.

  • well said

  • Oh, callate!. They are great. Bono is great!. Dude, seriously, you sound jealous. Can you be as famous as him and move as many crowds, and touch their heart? . I'm sure you can do none of the above. Instead of ripping talented people apart, people that have devoted their life to art, and goodness. Why don't use your energy to a better cause. Think about it boy 'cus you live only once in this planet.

  • Though we have our opinions who are we to judge. They go out and do the work to entertain. as with any musician. Its just the ones who are unsucessful always try to put down the ones who do.

  • SOMEONE make a video for this absolutely beautiful song and send it to everyone you know! This song is a true gift...

  • Greatest moment of the concert...when they played this song at the end...

  • It was the final song at yesterday's concert as well...absolutely beautiful! This one and Unknown caller are the live-highlights of the new album.

  • They dropped a verse at the concert - they need to put it back! It's one of the best lines/melodies

  • Final song of u2's set tonight in Barcelona is moment of surrender :-)

  • NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Regardless of how long the song is, it is at true U2 classic. It will become one of the best remembered U2 songs right up there with "One", "Bad" (which was another very long song).

One of the best U2 songs ever. Period.

  • i am going all the way saying, this is the best U2 song ever and would really suck if they dont come up with a video for this song..

  • THats the great thing about Moment of Surrender, tho... i doesnt need a video.

  • u2 me console du maitre ,michael j.

    très belle album 20/20..

  • great tune

  • Akaroooooooos! k lleig!

  • what to that dere

  • Almost doesn't sound like Bono singing. A very different style.

    Fantastic song.

  • Bono is a legend... and this song is the greatest since 2000...

  • This song is right up there with the greatest songs of U2. So much depth, so many textures and moods. What a fantastic and emotionally engaging song!

This song will be in the 2000s what "One" was in the 1990s.

  • I.....DON"T...THINK....SO. Let's not get excited here.

  • they recorded this in one take...eno i think said it was the most magical experience ever in a studio

  • no, it was daniel lanois.. 100%

  • Eno said that. I saw it on a video. Maybe Lanois said the same thing.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh jesus fucking christ already! Focus on the SONG if you don't like the video!

  • every eye looking every other way countig down ............. can you help me what's after this? in official lyrics is written : "counting down 'til the pentecost" but i can bet with you that bono is singing something different.. please help me.. thx

  • "Counting down till the pentecost" is on their website but cd's lyrics in the jewel case is "Counting down till the pain will start", which I think sounds more logical.

  • "till the pain would STOP"!....best song on the album and one of the best u2 songs ever!!!!

  • thanks :D

  • Sorry, jokerjimmy corrected me it's , "counting down 'til the pain would stop"

  • This is actually my favorite U2 album.

  • This has gotta be released as a single. They'll have to shorten it for radio, but this is the type of music that should be on the radio, not the crap that's around just now.

  • agree will never happen tho the songs 7 minutes they'll hafta cut out half the song

  • Yeah, the song is too long, but nothing could be cut out of this song. Every single second of the 7 minutes in this song are fabulous and contributes to the meaning of the entire song.

  • I wouldn't be shure. It's U2, they have to do something out of the ordenary :-). And it has been done. Stairway to heaven is even longer and it was released as a single. But ok that was long ago :-).

  • No,you're wrong about that kid. Stairway to Heaven was NEVER released as a single. Atleast not in the States, and pretty sure no where else.

  • you are right :-). Thanks, didn't know that. But there must have been a long single at some point in history no? anyway, although it is 7.25min It doesn't seem that long when you listen to it :-)

  • ok I found a single thats 8.15 min long. Dire straits tunnel of love :-)

  • led zeppelin never released a single :) they believed in album based rock.

  • Led Zeppelin did release a single, "Immigrant Song".

It was released in November 1970 by Atlantic Records as a single against the band's wishes.

It included their only non-album b-side, "Hey Hey What Can I Do".

Even though Led Zeppelin saw their albums as indivisible, whole listening experiences - and their manager, Peter Grant, maintained an aggressive pro-album stance - some singles were released without their consent.

  • Do you just hate U2 or do you think it is only this ablum which is shit ?

U2 is one of my faivourite bands, with songs like Bloody sunday and New years day, but i have to agree with your comment, this album has got some crap songs like this one and some totaly shit songs like Get on your Boots.

I think your comment is honest and fair even though Magnificent is a great song, mabey one of U2's best.

  • this isnt rap dude, U2 doesnt sing about how much money they have and stupid shit like that. if you want to hear a bunch of unpoetic superficial bullshit i suggest you go listen to 50 cent or some other shitty modern "gangster" rap musician. peace

  • emgrocks92..Run along you silly little boy, otherwise Auntie Daubrey Jane will phone your mummy and have her spank your sorry arse. God!! I loath bed-wetters almost as much as i loath U2 and Rap.

  • that wasnt even a comeback, probably because you cant even argue your points. im 18 years old and im still able to carry an argument in a more mature manner than you are. if you dont like a musical artist, good for fucking you but dont try and say that they are a bad artist based on your own opinions. people who arent musically inclined at all and have never written a song or collaborated with other artists ESPECIALLY shouldnt try and critique artists until they know what it takes to make music

  • Emgrocks92..I don't engage with musical illiterates or educational cretins. Please do run along you're becoming an infantile bore. At least Mr WhoDoYouWant has wit and a certain charm. I was really rather impressed by his last comments. As for the "musically inclined" jibe, i've played jazz and classical piano for over 25 years i also play guitar and i am a professional artist. As Dylan once said"Something is happening here and you don't what it is, do you Mr Jones". How true in your case.

  • well if you are indeed a professional artist i must say i hold you in the highest esteem in that case. but also in the case that you are a very musicaly inclined person i can not understand why you do not respect this music, even though a lot of thought, emotion, personal experience and talent has clearly gone into the creation of it??

  • emgrocks92..This really is the final communication, "thought, emotion, personal experience" and hard work.. we will pass on talent in U2's case..does not by definition create great or even good art . It can create banality and cliche. This is something that all artists have struggled with from time immemorium and it's something i struggle with everyday of my working life. So please enough. Try Dylan,Bach,Coltrane,Hendrix, Eliot,Miro,Redon,Cage,Davis for the answer.

    Daubrey Jane Weirdsley

  • nahhh este tipo da miedo se parece al señor spok!! pero u2 es genial

  • Linda a musica! Amazing music and album something almost like AchtungBabe

  • If U2's not going to do it, why doesn't someone come up with a good video to go with this song so I don't have to scroll down to avoid looking at this stupid slide show....this is an amazing song...

  • youtube is for Video's, not slideshows!

  • Definetly the best song in many years

  • This song's Lyrics...

"i've been in every black hole..."?

i know Bono is into supporting minorities but that is a bit too much.

  • I lol'd so hard XD

  • can't stop listening to this song

  • Good song, great film clip. It rocks. I really like it...

  • La canción no me convence muchíiisimo, pero el final es tremendo.

  • bearly consience.... thats the state of mind that this song gets me into - love it and go off into realms of the unknown XX

  • ONLY! bono and u2 could have come out with a song this open. he lays parts of his life down to be trodden on and criticised in these songs! he loves his art so much.

  • Just wait and see, I can guarantee you this song will be to U2 fans in 2000s what "one" was to U2 fans in the 1990s.

This song is definitely one of the best 10 U2 songs.

  • très jolie morceau , aprés 20 ans

  • una canzone bellissima!.......

peccato per quella faccia da pirla all'inizio!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Classic song. Cant wait to see them at Croke park and Glasgow whay hey

  • Whats with this fucken douchebag? He ruins this song.

  • Why call him that? It's a great song as many of U2's songs are. This means something to him which you may not be aware of. I'm sure you have song that relates to your personal life and no one would make fun of that.

  • Best! *Thumpsup*

  • best song of the album..and might be one of U2's finest so far....and no I'm not a kid who thinks U2 came out with Atomic Bomb, I go all the way back to war, joshua tree, boy and the like...and this is one of U2's finest

  • nie mogę przestać jej słuchać!

  • The idea that people who would otherwise buy the CD decide not to because they can get a low quality youtube video, just shows how out of touch the music industry are. Youtube is the perfect way to reach out to new potential customers who can listen on here then buy the CD, but they're too bloody stupid to realise this. The music industry is killing themselves.

  • My only request is to remove the fugly picture at the beginning that wrecks.

As for the song, I have listened to this song atleast 100 times already and the intensity, passion and beautiful lyrics never cease to amaze me.

"No line on the horizon" is definitely the best and most experimental U2 album since "Achtung Baby".

If you don't believe that "moment of surrender" ranks alongside some of the best U2 songs ever, you do not have a heart or you are deaf. LOL.

  • "Magnificent" I have to say is my fave on the new CD. Fan since 1984.

  • one of the true u2 classics. i grew up with u2 in the dadellion market but live in america now they are definitely back after a couple of soso albums.............

  • The most amazing song - such intensity. U2 have to release this ... it 's the best

  • This song is one of the best U2 ever made. In memory to the beautiful song from the "Achtung Baby"-Album: "So Cruel".

  • well ... in that case I'll also take a bad picture of myself and put this great song to it and put it up to YouTube to see how many hits it gets :) ...

Just kidding - but seriously: Thank you for telling me - I can totally see that they would do that ... I think that's great ... Still doesn't make this Video here a piece of art ... but it explains why it' can be YouTube to begin with :)

  • unbelievable ... 90thousand hits for a simple copyright-violation that has not an inch of creativity behind it ...

That just shows how great that song is and how desperately people want to see and hear it on youtube ... just like me ... but to my defense: I did buy the album CD - even in a music store (old school) - so at least I'm not using YouTube to hear the song for free...

  • Yes..you are right..free listening..but why did you download this song to Youtube if you are against this? You set double standards..
