If you like this song, look for the live performance of it in Gelsenkirchen, Germany 2009. The sound was incredible and Bono was pure heart on this one. I don't think there were many people around us who didn't feel it.

"Counting down till the pentecost" is on their website but cd's lyrics in the jewel case is "Counting down till the pain will start", which I think sounds more logical.

What a truly worthless band. Fronted by the most sanctimonious,pompous,prig in the history of of rock music. A singer who comes on like a cross between Fagin and Uriah Heep, and bares an uncanny resemblance to both. Bloated by his own sense of self importance. Who writes lyrics that are so embarrassingly juvenile they plumb the depths of bathos. A rhythm section that swings like a brick and a guitar player who hides his ineptitude beneath a welter of special effects and studio trickery. Sexless.

Yet with all these faults U2 manages to connect us with the higher emotions of joy, love and hope. I absolutely love U2 and I don't care if they have imperfections. There's a certain divinity embedded in the music. I'm sorry you don't hear it.

Regardless of how long the song is, it is at true U2 classic. It will become one of the best remembered U2 songs right up there with "One", "Bad" (which was another very long song).

"Counting down till the pentecost" is on their website but cd's lyrics in the jewel case is "Counting down till the pain will start", which I think sounds more logical.

I wouldn't be shure. It's U2, they have to do something out of the ordenary :-). And it has been done. Stairway to heaven is even longer and it was released as a single. But ok that was long ago :-).

This song is 4 minutes too long. I don't know what Buddy is doing with his voice, but it ain't working. If I had his coin, I wouldn't be looking at the reflection at the ATM machine, I'd be looking at the balance. Tough album to connect with: slow and superficial.

As for the song, I have listened to this song atleast 100 times already and the intensity, passion and beautiful lyrics never cease to amaze me.
"No line on the horizon" is definitely the best and most experimental U2 album since "Achtung Baby".
If you don't believe that "moment of surrender" ranks alongside some of the best U2 songs ever, you do not have a heart or you are deaf. LOL.
