  • CITRONIC MPSD 1 Dual Sd Card Media Player

  • it just doesnt have advance track button

but to think of it i dont really need it because i have deck 1 and deck 2 :)

copy this just go to google

  • they need to make a video on CITRONIC MPSD 1 Dual Sd Card Media Player becuase thats the 1 i wanna get because it takes more music on the sd card and usb stick stick i like this 1 but the CITRONIC Sd Card Media Player has the advantage by taking more music up to max 32gb

  • Brian, on the SDJ1 could you use one SD card to play off of both decks? or do you need a separate SD card for each deck? Im just asking because i am thinking of getting one! Thanks Brian!

    -DJ Slanedog

  • can you all please lose the really nauseating ellaskins-lingo.

if i hear one more gratuitous "piece of kit", "straightaway" or "practice and enjoy" im gonna think youre all in bed.

Meantime - whats with the "sudden stops", "crapped out", and "after 10 minutes it went dead"

Im not getting a warm fuzzy feeling about getting good bride reviews with this unit.

  • i got an sdj2 a few weeks back u should maybe take a look at that too its a really goot piece of kit

  • BTW, why dont you ask guys at ADJ to add WAV support/firmware for SDJ-2/SDJ-1 ?!?

  • Well, haven't used mine much, i decided to lend it to friend who was plannin a small party, well guess what, the machine, crapped out, the buttons don't respond, so there you go 250$ down the drain.American DJ = Lightning are so so, but the Audio branch, well they need to step up a couple of notches or they will loose. There is a saying that you get what you pay for, and that really hits the spot on AA and other 3rd party manufactured stuff they cook up in their lair, AA, JB, Skytech, Citronic.

  • hey there

    could u tell me

Do u need to have an SD slot on your computer for this thing?

    cheers

  • Brian,

Can you recommend a non hc 4 gb sd card?

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • this rocks except 4GB is too small for me to consider. Also if it had twin USB inputs for external drives it would be killer!

AA please make this right you will be heroes!!!

  • Hi,

I have a question, and I'll try to explain my question, because I'm not English...:

Can you also make a cue point by looking with the time on the display, that you can change the time and put a cue point on a one-tenth of a second...

    Can you please help me?

    Thanks a lot!

  • hy. The new firmware shipped I V2021 already would utilise this the SDHC also.

I applied faultlessly but 1 SD now does not see card and so the firmware I am not aware of re to apply!

SDHC I do not find out my card and that to test.

Gear and the menu also to go in. May stand all but does not see one card neither so how

is aware of does not cash anything:(

    Is the answer???

Somebody helps if is aware of

    I thank" less

  • do you think i should by one of the numark dual cd players or this?

  • This!

  • Can anyone recommend a 4 gb sd (non-hc) card for this unit? I've found multiple sdhc but few sd only cards. Thanks in advance.

  • I have one of these units. They are fine just as they are. For the sake of any confusion, You can use just the one card and still play both decks from that one card. You can play two tracks from the same card at the exact same time. They are not for main club use of course, but when your laptop dies you just plug this in and go. Great value backup units.

  • any other known defects with the sdj1

  • Will this SDJ1 work with all mp3 songs like

    Limewire songs?

  • Doesnt matter. If you use limewire you should be shot on the spot anyway. :P :P

  • Hey brian and everyone. Ive been doing some serious research on this product. I called american audio and they say for a 15.00$ fee and you have to send in your sdj1 they will upgrade it to take the sdhc card and it will then(from what they say) go up to a 32(SDHC) gig card .... yeah i know sounds realy good, (if they told me the right info) .... Im thinking about getting one realy soon.. if you would like more info the # is 1-800-322-6337 they are very helpfull so enjoy & practice.

  • Where are the connections located

What kind of plug is the faderstart connection on the unit?

What kind of plug is on the unit for the power inlet?

What kind of plug is on the unit for the Audio Outlet??

  • So the only thing you need to start making beats is this SDJ1 and some beats on SD cards?

If so that's great, I've been making some backing tracks for my videos and some new gear would help me out.

  • to make beats, u need production software... to mix and dj, u need this and a mixer... otherwise u wont be able to have any method of fading between songs, or being able to beatmatch in ur headphones

  • Great movie - all your mowies are great and helpful. I test now my SDJ-1 and for now it works good. I reomend everyone Brian's movies! They are very helpful!

  • i own it , but it stopped working and displayed "update ui" in the display. It's caused by an error (it does not need the update). I hope its fixed, shops report few issues with sdj1 now. Its also called :neonumeric - nmx sd, another edition ...... thanks

  • If you gig with one of these, make damn sure you have back-up gear. I have one and it suddenly stopped working after only a few uses. It happened while I was playing with it at home. It worked fine and then 10 minutes later, I turned it back on and the displays lit up blank and it wouldn't read the card. Thank God this didn't happen to me at a gig.

  • I just ordered this unit and am noticing that it's hard to find the regular SD cards, they all seem to be selling the SDHC cards...Wal Mart doesn't seem to have the normal 4 Gig SD cards now....where are you getting your cards at?

  • I always got mine at wal mart. Have you done an internet search? Checked Ebay?

  • I actually bought one of these units. I work with denon gear mainly though. I bought one of the SDJ1 units and i actually found them to be very good and extremely useful if i get any digital downloads from napster. Very good idea. Im just waiting now to see if there is going to be any firmware updates for SDHC card support. As a whole the machine is well worth the money

  • Brian Im interested in becoming a mobile dj but dont know what type of setup to buy .. can I dj with the sdj1 or is a cdj better if so can you recoment a setup that wont break the bank? I live in connecticut but travel often to new york and have visited canal several times I figured Id go to canal hi fi and get my gear ,.. thanks in advance I know you are a busy guy also I love all your videos take care ,, vinny from connecticut

  • Brian i have got my unit replaced 2 times becuase it had same fault. After the track is playing the title gets messy and shows instead of the title.mp3 it show some randoms text that u dont understand a shit about, have u notice that the tilte has been broken while playing after a while?

  • hmm nope, I got one of the first ones shipped and have had zero issues with it. I'm NOT, I repeat NOT an American Audio tech, but have you tried different SD cards? I've heard it's best to just use the cheap ones. I'm sure you've been thru this before, but is there anything at all in the file folders besides the music?

  • how does this works with 320 Kbps mp3's.

  • You're not SUPPOSE to use 320 in the machine, but I have and have had no issues

  • Brian is the unit pretty light weight? and does the cue button start like right away cause i have the american audio dcd-pro310 and man does it take too long to cue start, you can't click on it many times to create a stutter effect, and the loop i thought was seamless but end up not beeing seamless so there's a gap everytime it loops.

Thanks alot keep up the great work, watched all your videos so far very helpful.

  • It dosen't have "Auto Cue", but if you do tight rips or tweaks of your MP3 files, it hits it straight away. It's VERY light weight!

  • Hey bud how quick is it to find a track?

  • As quick as you can scroll. It reads thoes cards instantly. I use it a bit more in the Q-SD demo video posted as a response above

  • it does take a bit more time for it to read a 4gb card. but not very long at all (say 2-3 seconds)

  • Thanks alot, however i would like to know where can i get 4gb sdcards that are not hcsd cards they all seem to be hcsd. I find acouple 4 gigs on ebay that are not sandisk but another brand and are 4gb but arn't hcsd would those work. Right now i ordered the sdj-1 from ebay and ordered like 20 x 2gb sd cards and also got my self a american audio dual cd player for back up. I like the way the sdj is i plan to use them both though my mixer has 8 line in's and i have 2 ipods i'll carry along aswell.

  • also just found it will take the micro mini sd card with the sd adaptor. not sure if those are easier to find. i have a 2gb mini sd card (for my phone) and it reads just fine.

  • oh nice thanks alot bud helps i bought about 10 2gb sd cards from ebay and the mirco sd ones are cheaper but i'm going to guess read speed isn't up to par but still works :).. Just got some numark cdn 88s and i tend to use the sdj alot more.

  • Seems WalMart has them. You know, any old SD card should be fine. The cheap ones seem to work great with this

  • too bad you can't use CD's and cards or have a couple of USB ports per side together so we get the best of all formats

  • That would be pretty cool, eh? Perhaps we'll see something like that in the future. Can you imagine one that incorperated video?!?!?

  • Thanks Brian. This video sold me on the unit better than the Ameriacan Audio video did. It's nice to have someone who works talks the mobile DJ language and realizes what's important. The consolidation factor definitely does it for me.

  • Well thank you! I try to do real world demos and reviews.

Did you happen to see the video on the American Audio Q-SD I did? It's a mixer with a built-in SD card MP3 player like on this unit.

  • really?...no I didn't, but now I am gonna look for it, thanks!!

  • too bad it only holds up to a 4gb not big, enough for me.

  • same here, I've got 60 gigs just my standard stuff I take with me....damn it seems nice too

    bummer

  • Why waste time opening a Frank Sinatra folder, only to search there. I just need to get to the song.

I created a playlist of 800 songs to fit on a pair of 4's.Try SCROLLING from song # 5to s# 532. You can scroll the same playlist on an Ipod quicker & with greater ease.

If you were able to search via keypad it would be the ULTIMATE DJ tool.

  • what does the new advance track upgrade change, they have it on the adj website.

  • really nice review brian thanks you :)

  • can u still hook it up to a computer if u wanted to

  • no, it dosen't interface with the computer

  • nice I want one

  • so you need a mixer to use this???? if i dont then whats the point of gettin it??? :/

  • Yes you need a mixer. Any mixer should work

  • Hey, how is the BPM counter on this unit???

  • Not too bad. If you wait about 10 seconds it'll give you a nice reading.

  • Great, Thanks Brian. Im considering to pick this up cause i HATE gigging with 4 cases of CD's...

  • Man this is a sweet piece of kit! This has exactly what I would need for the typical wedding type of gig. I make playlists all the time his is perfect! Nice vid Brian as usual!

  • Hey Julie, did you notice you got TAGGED?? You should check out a few of the new videos and GET TO WORK :)

  • I don't like it for the sole reason that it doesn't have a USB port, I mean, it plays nice, it loops nice, it loads music from the SD card fast but it goes against hi fidelity on sets, I mean a 4GB SD card gets filled up quite fast with high quality mp3 (not your crappy 128Kbps mp3s).

  • yeah your right a 4gb card is not so big. so you buy extra cards. while one card is playing just pop a blank one in your laptop upload your tunes pop it back in in the sdj-1 and your good to go. simple

  • can you scratch on this player??????

  • No, this one dosen't have a scratch feature

  • whats good to one might be bad to another have you had this please tell us what makes it so crap.:)and whats wrong way kylie lol

  • hmm that's strange... The Kylie thing. How could you not love Kylie? HERASY!

  • this is a revolution!.... Way more reliable than a leptop that could possibly crash or freeze...I assume guitar center would have it in stock? Great video

  • You never had a CD player freeze on you? I know it may not look like one but this is also a "computer".

  • My CD players have never stopped working, a computer, which I also use has given me problems several times.

  • yeah numark are bad for freezing also pioneer cd players pioneer have always had bad rep for cd players freezing fro in car audio players to home hifi.

  • denon is best and number 1 in audio professional in word att. dj montreal

  • why is that cause there "made in japan" :D

  • Greg's Pro Audio in Whittier California has it for like $279. Talk to the young guy there..he'll take care of you.

  • i found it on djdepot dot com selling for 299.. but hey bri , thanx for posting the other site. some nice deals there.

  • hey brian when will this be availble? looks pretty cool to have as a back up unit. did a google search but the only thing i found was amdj website. let me know

  • hmm check idjnow dot com. They should have it pretty quick.

  • OMG, you got one of those!!!! Its so much better then cds.

  • how much is that unit cost?

  • It seems I saw it for $299 online somewhere. Do a google search and see what you come up with

  • Brian, how on earth did you get your hands on one of these? The only official website I can find this controller/player on is the European website of American audio. Are you getting the hook up from Johnathan?

  • You need to watch Video 300. All the answers are there :)

  • well am thinking in a great idea how about do a party for latin people!! ?? i need to you response plis !!

  • Well you need to send me a message with your question. I can't answer a question if I do not know what it is so do send me your questions or thoughts in a message or email

  • Nice !

     j

  • That's a fine quality you possess, sharing your skills with us novice's... good for you... Don't ever lose it.. Best wishes guy!

  • I would not have thought of SD cards as a good medium, but I guess if you only need a limited set of tunes, that would be all you need.

  • dmx for 20 to 40 16ch moving heads

  • You mentioned getting the DJ Essentials 40 CD set or something like that. Does anybody know where I can pick one of those up or are they no longer offered? They sound like exactly what I'm looking for to get my Music Inventory up to snuff with the demands of clients.

  • they don't sell things like that anymore. Most of them got nailed by the record lables back in the 90's. I'd check out Ebay to see if anyone has used sets for sale.

  • In the UK we have a company called Mastermix who do box sets and CD compilations for DJs. Is there not a similar thing in the US?

  • Sort of. I think DMC has a disc or two. In the old days, you use to be able to buy some amazing sets that would pretty much have everything you wanted on them. As usual, the record and publishing companys started to sue and the sets dissapeared.

  • Brian, if I'm not mistaken, your referring to the PO Platinum Series, correct? Those are very hard top come by nowadays. It would be easier to get the track listing and dl them all from ITunes.

  • Yeah it would be. Very nice set!

  • i would like to know if you know of anyone that uses high end lighting controllers.

  • Do you mean stand alone controlers or computer interface DMX style controlers? Or do you mean analog controlers?

  • hey man is me hector i need to talk to you man is very important

  • Shoot me a message and ask whatever you wish Hector :)

  • SD cards. The day is here where a dj can keep his music in his pocket.

  • I wonder if the cortex or Denon 2500 controller would be more useful since they will pull directly from any usb storage source. Plus they ave nicer, bigger screens...

as for 75 terabyte drives.. I just ordered 2 new usb enclosures because my Western Digital my book died again! Cost $90 total to build a 500gb drive with 5 year warranty!

  • That's probibly going to depend on how much music you bring with you. This unit isn't for everyone, but for thoes who are into consolidation or get playlists from clients, this would be a cool little unit.

  • A very good application for this would be for the mobile who already is a digital DJ, running a laptop and midi controller. WHAT? Think about it for a minute and you'll get it. Digital DJ's like compactness, but RESPONSIBLE digital DJ's also have a backup, incase of system failure at a gig. For me, this means I still have a dual CD player, and a book of backup compilation CDs, just in case, and I have to burn new compilation CDs monthly to keep them updated.

  • (cont) My backup compilation CDs would easily fit on a pair of 4 Gig SD's with lots of room to spare, and I could update my backup right off my laptop, without having to burn new CDR's. Better yet, I wouldn't need to search through my CD book, all of my "CD's" would already be inside of the unit. It would work as a really nice backup for my digital setup, and does have the tempo lock, and a loop feature, along with fader start, so you can still do some decent mixing. I'm interested :)

  • Easier to keep music on a couple hard drives and just bring a backup laptop. I couldn't imagine doing it old school while VJing, taking requests, song searching and dealing with the lights.

  • Easier? That's a lot of extra stuff to setup, would take a lot of extra table space, not to mention would cost quite a bit more. For me, what I carry in compilation CDs would fit on two 4 Gig cards easy. As far as too much to do during the gig? Non-digital DJ's do that and more all the time.

  • It's cool to have a full scale backup like you mentioned, but not necessarily easier. That's two laptops and sets of external hard drives to keep updated as well. It certainly is a more complete backup though. This unit would be a simple, space saving, cost effective backup, for those who would prefer such.

  • Right "Non-Digital" is what I meant by old school. The other laptop would just stay in a bag with the other back up equipment, and assuming you have your music on the original laptop, you only need one backup. A laptop hard drive in an enclosure only uses a USB and fits 100 gigs in the palm of your hand. One gig pays for all that easy.

  • great vid, if i would buy a new cd/mp3 deck i would buy something like that but you can plug in a usb-drive or hard-drive............

  • No, it's just SD card compatible. However, you can swap out the SD cards without a problem so you could have 20 of them if you wanted (just put 2 at a time in the unit.)

  • yes but i was describing what i would get

  • lol 75 teribit hard drives

  • Wow, this looks so cool! I still like my SSL with turntables but I am definitely going to tell me Math teacher who also DJs he may want this.

  • Brian, Would you feel comfortable taking this on a gig with you? I am not totally sold on MP3 devices yet. If so, I would like to see it in action. The only thing I am concerned about is finding songs on the fly.

  • Things like this don't really have any search options, but then they're not designed for use with many thousands of songs. The Numark D2 Director has full search with a QWERTY keyboard, as does the Denon HD2500 and other similar units - for more of the green stuff!

  • It's designed well for it's scope. It can't do a title/artist search, but it can search via folder, and does display folder titles and song title/artist. Certainly smaller scale than the D2 Director though, and it would be a bit better if it had a USB port for a stick as well.

  • It should be mentioned that a person is not necessarily limited to 8 Gigs worth of music. The limitation of 8 Gigs (2x4 Gigs) is what you can load into the machine at one time. You could have multiple cards loaded with music, though you would have to switch them out like with CD, though not nearly as often. Point being, is in this manner a person could overcome the memory limitation.

  • this is a great piece of kit bri

is it avalible in the uk

  • I think it's imminent. I know it's being shown at a DJ exhibition in the UK next week.

    RRP is £199.

  • Like it! I may have to get one of those. I have had so many Am. DJ/Am. Audio dual cd decks through the years. I've never bought any other brand. Am. Audio is a great company. If there is a problem they are very good at fixing it and fast.

  • nice piece of kit bri! just wondering how much it is! would it be a personal choice as opposed to a laptop and does it have a usb plug in? nice vid btw!

  • audiolines has it for $350 USD.

  • very interesting....

please tell us abou the jog wheel, the pich control, and all that really matters for the dj,the feeling ,the response of that gear...

I personaly hate those small jog wheels....

  • I recall seeing one of these at the BPM show in November '07, under another name.

    Great backup player.

  • And that is exactly it. I think it would be perfect as a backup system. I may consider it myself.

  • Looks great, might think about getting one. Nice vid Brian

  • great piece for mobile djing, thanks for introduction, i sure need one of these!

  • omg dead or alive, bowie and daft punk! that's all u really need on a gig....

  • i've seen mixers with ipod station things on top too. what will they think of next? makes me wonder how many ppl would buy something this specific....

  • American Audio have a mixer with an SD card Mp3 player on board too! It's called the Q-SD.

Hey, I wonder if Brian will be doing a video on that? :-)

  • Very cool! Love the videos, Brian.

  • seems to respond veeery fast. Certainly cool machine.

  • awsome vid, lets start a band!

  • first comment whoop! great vids brian, keep 'em coming
