These are great videos! Very useful although the cr. LP, cr. HP is a very difficult link to master. Especially when you throw the cr. LK at the beginning and the HK Tatsu at the end. Working on these B&Bs though so hopefully I'll improve!
i just thought of a pretty simple training drill. when i'm cornered and want to get out with an air tatsu, i sometimes rush the roundhouse to try and get maximum lift. when i don't complete the qcb input, an early jumping roundhouse comes out instead and i get punished in the 8 frames i surrender control over on landing. using negative edge for the tatsu eliminates this vulnerability should you miss and allows you to block on frame 1 of landing or create block-stun with a late aerial.
great videos man, i definitely picked up a handful of helpful pointers while watching. as far as counter hit training goes, how is that different from practicing hit confirming your combos? a counter hit would visually register the same as an unblocked hit.
1)How long do you spend time in the training room? (# of hours and # days a week)
2)Does it matter which character to use as a dummy (Big chars. like Sagat or small ones like Cammy)?
3)Do you need to know ALL the BnB combos for your character, or just the ones that do the most damage, considering there are some BnB combos that really stink.
Thanks for input and keep making these great videos! :)
^This. You can take this training regime and adapt it to any Fighter for combo practice, so for those who play other games, 2D or 3D, it's still relevant.
Great stuff. Very good video. I would love to see more. How about some SF music next time though!
Also, do you set the training dummy to auto-block? Basically, the dummy blocks the 2nd hit (if possible of course). That way if your combo isn't clean, it'll block the rest.
I'm a complete newbie to the street fighter series & wasn't ready for the technical subtleties this game offers. Losing time & again almost every match, it was only natural to say to myself " Ah just quit playing ! This game is too hard for you ! ".
But then I watched your videos. They inspire me to try harder ! Sure I still lose almost every match, but following your various tips, I can try & be better. So thank you for your videos ! We will always be eagerly waiting for more from you :)
I was basically exactly like you :) I just started to learn the very basic/ bnb combos of ryu and now i've started to train doing more complicated combos (although i stick to the basic combos in online play since i don't want to risk messing up the complex combos)
I see you have full meters when training links. For some reason, I occaisionally get an unintentional Super when trying to do an SRK. Just curious, which motion do you use: the traditional or df df?
Straight traditional method man...just takes time and practice....be sure your going to forward from the crouch position instead of down forward....that will definitely get a super instead of a DP

For dragon punches, do you use the short cut or the z movement?

Whats the advantage of continuing the combo on the counter hit?
ErayTarrell 2 years ago
Ah I looked it up, counter hits do more damage.
ErayTarrell 2 years ago
Yeah, that and more frame advantage (I'm pretty sure it's +3 more on counter hit)

Thanks for clearing that up

You can connect an all crouching MP,LP,MP but you have to time the first two hits or it wont work.
Also try this hard one:
FA level 2, fwd HP, MK, hadouken, crouch LK, crouch LP, crouch MP, EX Tatsumaki senpukyaku, Ultra.
All you need are three bars for the FADC and for the EX Kick. It can be done but it's HARD. just for fun though. X-BOX 360 (BIG VYCE)

do you double tap your 1-frame links? the rush punch to s. forward is pretty difficult.

As Ryu I think his cr. jab to cr. fierce is really hard to get down; I'll keep practicing but in the meantime I substitute MP for fierce.
ieodksnw787 2 years ago
Keep practicing those links! Cr. fierce was hard to get down, but I think now I'm finally used to it!
ewhsdavism 2 years ago
Thanks for the reply. Your vids are really helpful.
When you were first getting accustomed to the links, was it more about a certain rhythm or the visual aspect of seeing the last input connect?
