  • Helpful information starts at 0:00.

    Just to let you know.

  • This is definitely inspiring and truly great and in depth series of tutorials, but one thing keeps bugging me. There is so much tutorials about using many different DAWs but what about learning music? I am talking about music theory, playing keyboard, theory of rythm, melodies, scales etc. In your opinion is it important to know this stuff?

  • @moszna I say it is depending on the Genre, that you dedicate yourself to making.

Different genre's require different things to know.

Well, atleast thats the way I see it.

  • @cosmcosm allright so im sorry for that question,i just found out what the problem was but my bass sounds really low filtered,,i dont know why, yours sounds more cleaner and with the filter freq higher even if i made the same you did...

  • @cosmcosm i really need some help,at the begginning bass how come you dont have reverb on it ? how could i get it off the analog, sorry i know its a dumb question but i just moved to ableton from fl studio :(

  • This is gonna sound like a dumb ass question but how come when connecting them together i cant get a continuous dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo it only does it once at the beginning example - 24:51 :((

  • @SuperLongAssUsername same happens to me...i think he has something set so he doesnt have a reverb on the bass,i really need help with that too.

  • @SuperLongAssUsername allright i think i found the solution, you need to change the settings of the amp1 at 12:44 !

  • @wantedwanted21 TY! :-)

  • Welcome to the amazing side of youtube :)

  • @CyberFad Im side :3

  • I've watched a lot of videos on ableton... and You Teach it best! I feel Like i'm back in College! thanks!

  • A bah is a sheep, nothing to do with music.

Good tutorials btw, I'm gonna start using Ableton along with FL Studio.

  • im sitting here trying to figure out how to make the sinewave 'continuous' as he puts it, he changes it at 12.51 or there abouts and i cant see what he does the actually do it, when i change the same things that he does (i see him change decay sustain and release) it has literally no effect... maybe he used a hotkey? can someone help?

  • @bobbym47 hey mate. are you sure you selected the Amp 1 tab, and not the filter? Hope this helps you out.

  • There are a lot of unhelpful tutorials out there. This one is helpful. Thank you!

  • square kind of looks like i hybrid of saw and sine in a way

  • Thank you so much for this great very detailed and informative tutorial!!!

  • you are god. i now fully understand ableton from this tut alone

  • Super

  • ableton live 8 - my daw/seq of choice.

  • Thank u so much, ur awesome

  • i think you should explain in a bit more detail the part @12.41 you do it to quick for some people to understand what you have just done, it took me about an hour to figure it out. i thought it was something completely different.if it wasn't for csselements comment i would still be none the wiser.that said it's still 1 of the best thanx m8

  • 16:10, how do i change it to 1/16, mine is 1/4

  • @PooMyPanties right click

  • what program are you using? can it work for windows?

  • how do you fucking sustain a note! i cant find it, i cant adjust it, it just beeps on note and doesnt continue no matter how long i drag the note!!!!! PLEASE HELP MEEEE!!!

  • @seandmclean You need to change the envelope. See @ 12:41

  • This is amazing, you are a great teacher and so helpful. Thank you so much for doing this.

  • hands down, i have trouble sitting through certain tutorials, but this is so engaging and so informative. i could sit here for days and listen to this guy. thanks a million!

  • This is awesome! I would pay to watch such great tutorials! Thank you so much for doing them

  • I am following this tutorial but the part at 24:49 where you drag the note doesn't work for me. If I drag the note it still plays just one sound then stops, so its not a continuous tone. I am missing something obvious I'm sure, can anyone help me out?

  • Why am I so scared that you could stop someones heart if you played the wrong sound?

  • heh, I was watching this on my notebook, and when you soloed the subbass I heard nothing, so it was quite ridiculus :P

  • Testiclese!

  • Wow, this is by far the most helpful and extensive tutorial I've ever had the pleasure of viewing. Thank you for sharing your expertise so thoroughly and comprehensively. I've learned more from this video than I would from dozens of others combined.

  • Im pretty sure this 8 suit not ableton live since it has all those instruments. I have live 8 and it does not have analogue. It has drum rack, instrument rack, external inst, impulse and simpler..... Suit sure has a whole lot more stuff, but it was too expensive so I just rewire in reason 5.

  • what version of ableton is this?

  • @biodrawxel ableton 8 live suite .. it costs £300

  • @suffist cool thanks!

    ok, so about 412 dollars

  • thanks for creating this, it rules

  • i love your new zealand accent

  • btw you can press Shift and the arrow buttons to move midi notes in octaves

  • This tutorial is holy... I just wanna point out that 441 or 442hz... still counts as an A. For instance, juliard students tune to 440 but oberlan (sp?) tune to 441. In history, A as never been defined as specifically 440hz that's just been recently accepted as being more correct.

  • You make the best tutorials on youtube for ableton! thank you!

  • His notes are sustaining, mine are not. Not on the keyboard, nor through the midi note editor - no matter how long or short i make the notes, it just plays a short bleep :( can anyone help?

  • Doesn't he sound a lot like the manager from the Flight of the Conchords-series?

Great tut by the way, five outta five toasters!

  • i love you.

  • man, your tutorial is the best I've seen

    Thank you :)

  • But how do Tsunamis work?!?!?!

  • Tom, you are the best teacher/producer. And you have brilliant dreads. Pretty epic combo, if you ask me.

  • When I draw a note in the midi clip and stretch it to make it continue playing, it plays the start then fades out rather than just continuing to play the note? why is this?

  • @Trandall1992

Did you ever figure out why? I am having the same issue

  • @itstastybacon arm the midi clip using the red record button at the bottom :)

  • I've gone through so many tutorials that have just kind of left me staring blankly without knowing what was going on. Yours just high the right spot for a pure beginnger like me. Much thanks!

  • hi... can you make this instrumental to me?

  • @brio070 awseome just did about 10 minutes ago XD

  • @robuzy Yes indeed amigo , u will learn very very much of this musical master :D , if u would like to make a team up mix contact me bro , would be cool

  • ive been using fl studios for 4 months , and i learnt to work it so so , but then one day i was looking for tutorials on fl studios which there arnt many and i found these series of tutorials you make . after 2 weeks of thinking about changing to ableton even though i did not know much on fl studios i decided to change , And let me say i do not regret that shit at all jajajaja thanks brother!

  • Ok must have missed the bit where he tweaked the envelope or something.

  • @BadTomorrow it's at 12.41

  • Why on earth, when I stretch out my note like @25:00 do i not get the continuous note. Instead mine is just like a single piano key press that quickly fades. I dont see an option to change release... ???

  • @BadTomorrow

it MIGHT be a combination of your sustain/decay

lets say sustain is at 0 for example, the decay would determine how lONG it took to get to the held amplitutde

of 0.... so if the decay was really short, lets say 200ms, and you press and hold a key, it would take only

200ms to reach "zero" dB!! thus the quick fading!!

  • @BadTomorrow

for analog SPECIFICALLy, you can find release in the envelope for "Amp1"

  • @brand0wnsyou thanks, i was having the same problem. i clicked on amp 1 and had to change it to look like a box

  • so much for RTFM!

  • Your tutorials and your accent both kick ass good sir.

  • 22:05 now i know how a tsunami works
