  • Best Intro's and video's!

  • @TheRagingFoxhound Colt, hands down. But Springfield armory makes a nice 1911 also s

  • Hickock45. I am very interested in purchasing a 1911. Money is not an issue. Being that there are tons of 1911s to choose from, what manufacturer would you say is the "best" to choose from."

    Thank you in advance.

  • I am in looking to purchase a 1911, i have about 1,000 to spend, there are sooo many 1911s to choose from, I was looking at the Colt railguns or the Colt gold cup trophy. What do you recommend? Thanks!!!

  • Another great vid. Thanks for showing what a waste it is to "duel wield" any type of gun. They got it right with twin, quad, and 3x3 .50's. But it may only work with twin semi auto shotguns or "double duelist" with single action revolvers (hint hint) now that would be pretty fun to watch.

  • Really nice video! Thanks for the info! So the white dot sights are standard from the factory? Are the wood and black plastic grips identical in shape and size apart from looking differently? What finish do you think is the most durable? Blued or Stainless Steel? My brother is interested in a SS one while I am leaning more towards a blued one (black). Super informative video!

  • Can you do a review for a .38 super

  • @hickok45 Any experience with or thoughts about the Colt Defender Series 90?

  • how commen are .38 supers

  • Do you prefer a Glock 27/21 or a 1911? In terms of accuracy and reliability (if looked after)

  • u jst have a blast dont u?

  • What do you think of the new Remington R1 enhanced?

  • i have the same gun but .38 super and its nickle plated. but i like .38 super a lot more than the .45

  • i just got this gun for real cheap used the guy said it only had about 100 rounds thru it, i never really liked the 1911 and never thought i would but since i got this i became attached to it

  • Think the series 80 trigger would be better for me cuz I have long fingers?

  • @cfeder45 I would imagine the long trigger would feel better to you, but that's for you to determine by handling some 1911's with short and long triggers. I do not like the short trigger very much, but I absolutely love the long trigger. Not to be very confusing, but technically the 1991 model is a series 1991, but it has the series 80 slide so internally there's no difference, but externally the only change is the flat mainspring housing and long trigger.

  • @Weaponcollecter16 Yeah I really enjoy longer triggers on newer model 1911s, but I'm looking at getting a "Mil-Spec" type and am debating between the Springfield Mil Spec and the Colt 1991. I really don't like the short trigger on the Springfield so I'm thinking the long trigger on this Colt might be the one.

  • Best pistol ever made.it wont let you down

  • Excellent! I just purchased one of these (Series 70) as a 21st birthday present to myself, and can't wait to pick it up. This video was a key aspect of my decision, not to mention the emotional appeal of the gun itself :)

  • @DCN1234567 Damn, I just turned 21 and this may be my bday present. I have small hands so not sure about series 70 or 80, but I hear this gun works great for small handed folk either way so that is great for me. Though, I have worked with a Deagle so I am used to stretching my finger to the max lol.

Oh and awesome and educational review Hickok45. Had everything a great review should have. Even addressed the issue of the two finishes on the gun. I am leaning towards the blue, but we will see.

  • Amazing that the gun is 111 years old and its still one of the best handguns in the world.

  • @steamingpoopfart Are you from the future?!?!? O.O

  • @steamingpoopfart if it is 2011, and the gun was made in 1911, where do you get "111 years" from?

  • I'll take my series '70, thank you (best gun ever made).

  • have you ever tried the double-stacked "1911" pistols? whats your take on them?

  • @Hickock45

Just want to thank you for this video. It inspired me to buy a Colt Series 80 M1911 in blue as my first handgun. I couldn't be happier with it! Thanks for all you do to promote the shooting sports!

  • Those babies get those targets swinging"

  • Well, i can't try it a home, because i live in the hoorid place known as the city, but when i go to a firend house with his personal range, i'll be sure to try it.

  • 1911 equals best 45 ever made

  • @hickok45. I cannot tell you how much i enjoy your videos, keep up the good work and success. Anyway, I've been saving up for a Colt Series '80 1911, which has been the best gun i have ever shot and held, but i cant seem to get a good quote on how much a one is, im thinking around $900, but i dont know for sure. It always seems that they are hard to obtain, could you tell me how much yours was and how you obtained it? Thanks.

  • Hello Hickock I bought an m1911 just like this for $200 (Me and my dad hope to do it up) and It's mag won't actually fit in the magwell. The trigger assembly is blocking it and we have tried to get it out but to no avail. We tried disassembling and reassembling but that does not work we have to physically put my fingers in the magwell and depress both of the struts there to get the mag to fit please help!

    Cheers

  • Hi Hickok45 Sir. If you had some time I would greatly appreciate some advice. I need some information re: the purchase of a 1911 .45acp pistol. Which model of the 1911 would you recommend for me with all the knowledge you posses? I tried on the 1911 & it fits my hand better than the A1 version because it has the high-rise main spring housing which expands the grip. The question I guess I would ask it which brand or version could you recommend for me. THX. Sincerely, JAMES.

  • It has 8 bullets on each magazine? I was pretty sure it had only 7!

  • I always wanted a 1911 :)

How much would be one like the black one?

    Thanks :)

  • @GoodMusictoListen most 1911 are 1k and up

  • ha ha sweet sweet!

  • Just picked up my first 1911 and its a Colt 80 series! WOW I have been a Glock guy as well and I must say after shooting this AWESOME Colt I done even want to go back to my Glocks!

  • I saw a blued series 80 for $875 is that a good deal? and if i do buy this will i profit from this gun one day?

  • from the guns i cleaned...i love cleaning guns!!! its so fun just admiring your firearms..

  • Pretty good shooting! Any thoughts on being the next "Top Shot"? :P Love your videos.

  • @Wilforknowledge hes went through that jazz turned them down, we like him on here anyway :)

  • bought my first 1911, a Colt series 80. only thing i want to change is the grips. trigger is perfect, finish (having some premature wearing of bluing around the grip issues) and i like the GI grip safety

  • I have the Colt series 80 SS Slide on a Para P-14 w/ +2 mags. I can carry 15+1. I love the Firing pin block. I can conceal carry the hybrid although it is very heavy. I love the 1911, thanks for your video.

  • only thing that sucks about 1911 is that you run out of ammo fast ....

  • I never did understand all those guys who pay those obscene amts for Kimber and others. YES they are very very nice pistols, I do not have an issue with manufacturing....PRICE yes...why? COLT is very well made, I used to own, (SAD FACE ) a series 70 and stupidly pawned it and lost it. As for the 'combat tupperware' guys.....carry a pen knife in your purse!

  • This guy is awesome because every time he touches that gun he just has to cock it LOL

  • @hickok45 where did you get your colt in this video

  • sweet

  • Colts are great guns. I would not buy any other brand. I typically shoot 1000-1500 rounds St a time. Never had a problem.

  • Wonderful target range! I would build something like that if I could.

  • @hickock45

I've heard some people badmouth Colt recently. Is it true that modern Colts are junk? How is this pistol holding up? I'm currently shopping around for 1911s, and I want a Colt, but people tell me I'm crazy.

  • Could you put a World War 2 1911 hammer on that gun?

  • hey hickok, I am looking for the Colt 1911 Series 80 (model O) @thearmorychannel has one and i am looking to pick one up. Do you know where I can find this specific model? I have looked in the 2011 and 2010 Colt catologs and cant find em. thanks

  • @templinc look on gunbroker or gunsamerica

  • I wish Colt would bring back their 9mm 1911s. I just don't want to pay that much for .45 ammo when I'm just shooting at paper.

  • @hickok45 I just bought the same series 80 as you. I have large hands and when i shoot it the grip safety pinches me and makes me bleed. Does this eve happen to you? Could i be holding it wrong or are my hands to big? should i consider a beavertail?

  • @TheChamberofFarts , No, I've never had a pinching problem with grip safeties. I do get hammer bite sometimes with the old original 1911 beavertail if I don't hold my thumb out just right.

  • @hickok45 that must be it. I was holding my thumb pretty tight against the side everytime i was pinched

  • @hickok45 whered u buy ur series 80, .45 from and price if u can thnx

  • @hickok45 I noticed that does not have a full length guide rode, does that make a difference to you sir in life of the product and maintenance?

  • @Morepullups, I can't imagine myself ever buying a 1911 with a full length guide rod. Just not necessary.

  • @hickok45 Thank you for that information sir.

  • @TheChamberofFarts I always shoot em before I buy em. I've got large hands too, and some 1911's pinch me too. I look for ones with the extended beavertail and the smoothed saftey.

  • lol...commence education now!!! love it.

  • Wow. what a great video! The 1911's are my personal all time favorite firearm. This video did a great job both informing and demonstrating these guns. Fantastic shot by the way!! Hope to see more 1911 vids soon. Very very good job.

  • I love all of your vids ,but out of both of the 1991 series 80 colts (blued or stainless) which one do you prefer ?? , I could get either one of them the fact is I just cant make up my mind which one is better and holds it's value. Please help!

  • This and the WWI Replica are my favorite 1911s.

  • how long did it take you to get such well accuracy. And is there any good tips that will help with the 1911

  • Hickok45 are you left eye dominate? It's hard to tell but in this video it seems you are useing your left eye????

  • I dont know if it is becouse am a Texas or not but i always wanted to get a par of pistols for double wielding. I was thinking either two Berettas our two 1911 colts.

  • Hey Hickok im 15 and i just got a 1943 1911 and i love it!!!!!! Ive been target practice after i say your 1911 video from the WW2 Vet and i told my self "Im gonna shoot like him one day" And ive been practicing since then now i can shoot a 6 inch target 100 yards down range :) Thanks man and i want you as another grandfather!!!!!!!!

  • Aww the good old ww2 classic, the colt 1911 hickock45 you are one lucky man , you can't go anywhere without the good old 45

  • hi hickok is the Chiappa 1911 .22 Cal any good i wanted a 1911 but the ammo was just too muck for how muck i shoot, i have a regular 1911 but i kind of wanted one in 22lr!

  • Hi Hickok. I have a Colt series 80 1911 in 38 super and I when I compared it to my dad's old lightweight commander, I wondered why mine has a flat mainspring housing and longer trigger. Thanks for the info. If you have never tried one in 38 super then you should.

  • hey hickok does shooting cast lead rounds alot seem to foul up the barrel, or make it harder to clean the barrel and get the fouling out of the barrel

  • @HecklerKoch45c ask pete he would know. hes also a great guy

  • How reliable would you say these guns are?

  • Have You ever thought about putting wood grips on the stainless steel 1911?

  • Happy birthday 1911!

  • Great Vid!! Gotta luv a 1911!!

  • in your opinion which is better blue or parkerized?

  • lol shoot 2 guns at the same time........SIDEWAYS lol

  • Awesome. I still have 5 months to wait until I turn 21, but I'm 99% certain on that day I will be ordering a blued 1991. I love my Colt rifles. Figure I might as well go with the original brand of 1911.

  • Isn't there a firing pin stop on the series 70?

Also, I heard recently some complaining about the series 80 not work so well. What is the problem?

  • I bought a .45 Taurus Judge the other day. I am not much of a fan of clips and enjoy revolver action.

  • a lot of gun a ton of money

  • im pretty stupid when it comes to guns but what is the difference between the stainless steel models of colts and the carbon steel? saw these on the colt website but as i said not very educated on guns and was wondering what the different steel quality effects in the gun.

  • @boomunderscore0 Mainly looks. If you live in a hot or humid place and carry concealed, blued firearms are liable to rust. Stainless won't. It's mainly a looks/personal preference thing.

  • i persanoly like the colt 1911 nice vid

  • I had an Auto Ordinance 1911 a year ago that I sold do to ammo prices but now that I handload .45 ACP and I'm turning 21 next month, I think I shall get a Colt 1911 to commemorate both occasions :)

But should I get it on my birthday or the 29th of March?

  • @hickok45 Thanks Hickok! Sorry I did look through there I didnt see it the first time, I normaly try to see if you have my question answered somewhere else before I ask you. I think I was looking for series 80 field strip or something. Didnt realize it was the same as the WWI replica. But thanks hickok! thats how I was doing it. Just wanted to make sure, cause everyone else on youtube was pulling their recoil springs out the front and mine wouldnt do that.

  • Just amazing, Mr. Hickok! Does your Christian first name happen to be William?

Know any gals by the name of Annie?

  • How much ONE BULLET ??

  • I really enjoyed that dual wielding demonstration lol

  • Good point @ 4:36. That stainless one looks sweet!

  • @ 14:31 "I think the sight picture's the same".....BANG....60+ yards....CLANK

    LOL

I am seriously looking at this model (blued) for my first 1911......in 2011.

  • @tnoutdoors9 , The Model 1991 Series '80 is a great choice! You're only 100 years getting around to it, but better late than never! :-)

  • @tnoutdoors9 I would absolutely love the very same thing. Absolutely beautiful firearm . . . and classy as well. If only money grew on trees :/ I saw your new video and my I couldn't keep my mind off of it all day.

I really love watching both yours and hickok's videos. Keep up the good work guys!

  • Nice shooting Hollywood! Lol Nice guns, id like to add a 1911 to my collection..

  • Hey Hickok, can you please make a handgun collection video?

    Please respond to this message:)

  • Or better yet, on average, which gun misfires, jams or malfunctions more over the other?

  • Hey Hickok @10:20 you made a disclaimer for having a malfunction, saying "If I have a malfunction, I don't care"... stating "that these are mainly range guns"...

So would you say Sir, that your 1911's are less reliable than your GLOCKS?

  • @rednoseroxy , Well, if everything is tuned right and you're firing a bullet configuration that your 1911 will feed, it can be almost as reliable as a Glock. They can be very reliable these days.

  • @hickok45 thats my birthday and the 1911 is one of my favorite guns

  • @hickok45 I don't care how much reliable a Glock is to a 1911, because a kid can never match an oldman. And yet, a higher capacity ain't not meaning that Glock is better. I'm pretty sure that Glock ain't gonna be so reliable, if they were issue to military usage.

  • @hickok45 hey hickock

if guns were meant to be made out of tupperware, john would have made them that way

  • @hickok45 Most people quoted that the series 80's firing pin block cause those problems. Is your's the same?

  • those are both pretty guns imo

  • those are both pretty guns

  • M1911 is the best pistol.. But you should do one on the ppk or ppk/s the James Bond gun...

  • Hi Sir. I have a Colt 1911(?) series 80 which has a barrel bushing that has 4 prongs which grip the barrel. I have never seen this before. I was wondering if I could change this by taking it off & putting a regular bushing on it. Are you familiar with this model & how would I go about changing this to a regular barrel bushing. The gun is blued & I don't like the way it seems to carve grooves in the end of the barrel when shot. Any info would be greatly appreciated. THX Sincerely, JAMES.

  • are you ritch? (have a loot of monny)

  • @112Sverige112 you can't spell

  • 1991 thats my birth year lol

  • 2 people own a mauser :(

  • Can you make video about the hickok45 method for making lead bullets?

  • Great info , any thoughts on 1991 commander models? Quality and function ect? Thanks

  • so ppl will say or call it 1911 for short rather than saying, M1911A1, right??

  • how is the trigger on the series 80's guns?

  • i'd be willin to loan ya my RIA and put it thru it's paces :)

  • What do you think of the Armscor 1911's?

  • @MNU1978 I own an Armscor / Rock Island 1911. It's been very good so far, haven't had a single issue. Alot of people claim they will eat anything you feed through it. I am not a fan of the parkerizing on the RIA. It seems thin and scratches easily.

  • I got this same gun with Matte FInish its one of the most reliable guns i've ever owned.

  • your a great shooter sir!!!1

  • I wouldn't trade my series 80 for anything. I love 'ole slab sides! Mine is the same as in the video, plane Jane! As long as you use 230grn rounds (HP, FMJ, etc), it'll put them on the front post out to silly distances!

I'm waiting to see what Colt does for the 100th anniversary :)

  • @jimkressin He did a FAQ video saying that he didn't know much about the GAP.

  • My Colt XSE Rail gun (series 80) came from the factory with an excellent trigger.

  • Not sweet its FUCKING SWEET

  • Beautiful pistols. Gotta love a good Colt 1911.

  • the 1911 itself has gone 'hollywood'. thats why every young person wants one. thats why you see a million of em in every gun store you go to.

  • Thanks for doing a piece on the series 80 and taking the time to cover the history and specifics of them . I have that same gun in blue , good shooter , lots of fun to shoot.

Been wanting another 1911 , but with so many makes and models out there I cant decide . Going for a more traditional style 1911, any opinion on the current production Colts ? How do they stack up against a comparable Kimber , S&W or Springfield?

    Thanks

  • @rcruz003 , I prefer Colt and Springfield, but I'm a bit "Old School," I guess. I still like the companies that use fewer MIM parts.

  • What holster are you using?

  • Why do Gang Bangers shoot their guns sideways ? Because that's how the guns come out of the box :)

  • Comment removed

  • "commence education now" do you use that line on your students?

  • this is the only reason I would want to move to america.

in germany, even toyguns are considered evil :(

  • Series '80 1911 (Model 1991)

    price?

  • i am looking for this gun can anyone tell its price range before i make my decision

  • THis guy, is fucking awesome.

  • If you'll excuse my ignorance, what is the function of the "half-cock" position?

  • @FanOfZeppelin I am not that familiar with semiautomatics, I am a revolver man actually, but to answer your question, the "half cock" position was a function dating back to the days of the percussion cap revolvers when the hammer can be set to half cock, so the cylinder can be rotated freely, allowing the shooter to reload. Most shooters also use half cock as a safety position, though it is not recommended.

  • @zomgwtfbbqbagel Please post something constructive and positive. We are adults.

  • @Rachen30 I said this guy was awesome, with one swear word. How's that negative and destructive in any way?

  • @zomgwtfbbqbagel No, it's that LOL post you made to the "half cock" comment. I am implying you were thinking of something dirty.

  • @Rachen30 I was "LOLing" at his ignorance of a function of a weapon, because the person who said "half cock" doesn't know what its for.

  • @zomgwtfbbqbagel Oh OK. Sorry about that. Because on a gun forum I frequent, a similar discussion about "half cock" and "trigger-cocking" led to a plethora of dirty jokes.

  • @Rachen30 It's ok. Lol trust me, if i were a troll, I could have done much worse. I don't want to make Hickock45's videos a cesspit of trollage. Lawl. :) His videos are awesome.

  • @zomgwtfbbqbagel I understand :D His videos are better than professional documentaries :D

  • Haha I love the intro

  • could you do a video about the differences between the 1911 and the 1991, if any unless you've already done one like that

  • my favourite gun(especially Guncrafter Industries 50GI Model No.1)

  • They also added a plastic spring housing... yuck. Have you ever had trouble with the firing pin block safety? I never have, but some guy made a vid saying they have the potential to lock the pin forward when shooting hot rounds. I think he just had a weak firing pin spring or a bad extractor. The pin block can be removed too, but why do that.

  • oh I love the opening statement in this video!

  • It would have been funny if after he said commence education now and shot he missed the target every time

  • Excellent start to this video!

  • still like the ww2 one

  • out of all my guns i shoot best with my Colt 80 series 1911.

    great shooting.

  • Great shooting as usual hickok! I've had a few Kimbers, but paid the big bucks and picked up a Nighthawk Custom. Best of the breed in my opinion, have not had one malfuction since I've had it.

  • you hit some pretty far targets. good video. i didnt know they put the firing pin safety in them now.

  • very cool, 1st gun I ever bought!

  • Hey Hickok, I must say thanks for the 2 gun firing, as i am one of the many who requested it :-)

  • your range is THE BEST. agree with you 100% about the tradition of the old 1911s, i want a classic looking one with the flat housing and long trigger. great video, helps a lot

  • I would like to see if you could get your hands on a rather unknown machine pistol, the swedish 6,5x25 CBJ. I'm not sure if you can get them anywhere anymore, but if you know anything about it, I'd like to hear your opinion :D

  • I would like to see if you could get your hands on a rather unknown machine pistol, the swedish 2,5x25 CBJ. I'm not sure if you can get them anywhere anymore, but if you know anything about it, I'd like to hear your opinion :D

  • I just bought my first 1911 type gun. I got a Kimber Super Carry Custom. It is an extremely well made firearm. I have enjoyed it thoroughly at the range. I highly recommend it!

  • is there a reason you use yellow for your targets does it help your picture???

  • is there a reason you use a slide relase on a 1911 but not on glocks

  • @xxbryan715xx , I tend not to use them - just depends on what I'm doing. Sometimes I do thing a little differently in a video for the camera angle, maybe to show a gun better, etc.

  • Damn you're a good shot

  • This gun is fast becoming my all-time favorite. The more I learn about the 1911, the more I like the box-stock Colts you have here over the tricked out and customized ones. I will own one some day.

    Thanks for the great video.
