You did remember to balance those propellers?! No, only joking. What can i say..i`m sorry i only have two thumbs!!! Very impressive. I actually have some micro R/C equipment..and i vow to do this to some of my models too. I did do it to one of my thunderbolts, but i am having some minor issues with the heat transportation in the small dc motor away from the plastic. But i`t certainly looks alot better on a four engined bomber, that`s for sure.
@xh558able Kind of a combination...r/c doesn't allow for detail as crashes are possible/probable, so I used dc motors synchronized to the sounds of a Lancaster to simulate a Lancaster on a revetment.
5mm pager motors were used. In general, a microprocessor is loaded with the engine soundtrack then algorithmic cues are embedded at specific sound/volume points to increase the voltage to the dc motors. Each motor has an address which receives the commands from the microprocessor either separately or collectively in the case of an engine runup to takeoff speed. To change the engine start sequence, the commands just need to be sent to a different motors address.

When the start sequence was programmed I used the "Appointment in London" as well as the "Dambusters" videos as a guide as they were both made just after the war with RAF approval. In addition the Air Ministry Pilot and Flight Engineers manual dated 1944, does not specify a specific engine start sequence. I have noticed that modern reconditioned Lanc videos seem to start #3 first. The electronics allow for the start sequence to be selected by the modeler.
A fantastic model and a brilliant tribute to Guy Gibson - although he didnt reach the rank of group captain before his untimely death at 26 I'm sure he eventually would have.Brilliant stuff! 5/5
Smoke was found to be impractical in 1/72 and 1/48 scales...not enough room to generate a realistic volume. Will do smoke for an F4 in 1/32 scale to illuminate the afterburner. Bomb bay door movement was not smooth so were deleted in 1/72 scale. Since the same audio track will be used in the 1/48 Tamiya version, reference to the doors was not deleted as they will be added to the larger scale (more room).

Start engine 3 (starboard inner) first, engine 4 (s. outer) and then the other two in no way requried
