@EDLKenny The internment of Japanese and Americans of Japanese decent was thought to be necessary. They went a bit too far in doing it, but some action was of course necessary when this country was fighting for its survival. That an apology was issued later does not mean that it was completely a wrong thing to do; it was war!
The distortion comes at not recognizing what was happening at the times that we are speaking of. You see things from the perspective of today, not of then.

Everyone makes mistakes in their lifetime, including countries - in their lifetime. I am partially of Native American descent and I do feel anger towards the people of the past who exiled my ancestors and put them into poverty ridden reservations, but I don't hate the Americans of today who would never do such a thing. I do find it sad though that there are individuals who would take things like this lightly or make fun of them just for their own amusement (not talking about Family Guy)

@jbranstetter04 That's a deep (and good) question. I think the immigrants should have tried more to immerse themselves into the culture of the natives. Of course there could have also been room for a kind of mesh of cultures, mixing together native culture with European culture. I think there are an infinite amount of possible outcomes from there, based on things like -if- there was ever a country-wide leader, and -if- technology developed at the same rate it is today.

The inventions, the wars fought and won, the way Japan is today compared to what it might be, and China. As you stated, there are "infinite" paths that the world could be on today. One thing I know for sure, in ones own life, and in the life of a country; that you cannot go back and change things. You must learn from the past, and then move on.

They went a bit too far in doing it, but some action was of course necessary when this country was fighting for its survival. That an apology was issued later does not mean that it was completely a wrong thing to do; it was war!
The distortion comes at not recognizing what was happening at the times that we are speaking of. You see things from the perspective of today, not of then.

Everyone makes mistakes in their lifetime, including countries - in their lifetime. I am partially of Native American descent and I do feel anger towards the people of the past who exiled my ancestors and put them into poverty ridden reservations, but I don't hate the Americans of today who would never do such a thing. I do find it sad though that there are individuals who would take things like this lightly or make fun of them just for their own amusement (not talking about Family Guy)

@jbranstetter04 That's a deep (and good) question. I think the immigrants should have tried more to immerse themselves into the culture of the natives. Of course there could have also been room for a kind of mesh of cultures, mixing together native culture with European culture. I think there are an infinite amount of possible outcomes from there, based on things like -if- there was ever a country-wide leader, and -if- technology developed at the same rate it is today.

Our history in the last few decades have been disappointing with the corruption and the wars however will i damn America. Never, here we have more rights than people can ever dream of. We all must stop complaining already, we now have an African American president, the most powerful man in the world. I am so sick of this - our country is full of African American lawyers, doctors, artists, singers, generals, TV personalitys, models.. the list goes on and on and on.
