Marty was a young woman who never learned about non-sexual affection. I think by this time in the story, her feelings for Andrew had gone more to a friendly place. She just didn't know another way to express gratitude than through her sexuality. She had an uphill battle on her hands to create a different life for herself and she just didn't know how to not stumble over herself.
