  • listen to that variable timing around 4300

  • 7000rpm never sounded better

  • I have herd that you will not be able to stroke this engine, is this true? This fact will have a HUGE impact on weather or not I switch from Bow Tie to The Blue Oval!

  • @ESPsandEmgs

increasing engine stroke or bore size in this engine is completely irrelavent. the stock block can handle up to 750 hp not to mention it makes 415 STOCK n/a. shelby has already started designing and roush is spending so much time on the damn thing its going to be flawless by the time its realeased. That old school stroke bore dinosaur crap is dead and gone. stock block opprotunites thanks to ford are now limitless

  • 5.0 all the way!!

  • 7000 rpm !!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how many camshaft in this Engine ?

  • 4cams 32 Valve

  • 4 cams. And they all operate under variable valve timing.

  • quad cam i believe. 32v dohc

  • DOCH dual over head cam 4V per cylinder.

  • 4 cams total, 2 Intake 2 Exhaust, If I'm not mistaken!

  • well thats the power at the crank. after all the drivetrain friction loss that mustangs are famous for well see what it does. amazing how much hp gt500 SS has. 750hp they claim. well its at the crank. your getting 635 at the wheels.

  • Wow, you chevy guys make me laugh.... you have been trying to keep up with ford V8's since the days of the bootlegger. Buy what you will, Ford has been here since the begining and will be there when GM (government motors) goes belly up...

  • 6943 rpm on that dyno !

  • To all the people here who say -the 5.0 is back- : It's not back ! It's a totally different engine than the 5.0 pushrod engine. The new 5.0 (code name Coyotte) is a modular engine with DOHC. The only thing that is the same is the displacement... I'm very disapointed in Ford because they did not use connecting rods strong enough for forced induction. WTF ? That means no blower if you don't open up the engine and put stronger rods ! Ford Racing will loose a lot of money because of that !

  • That is what the aftermarket is for silly. Forged internals would have put the price up tremendously.

  • Making almost twice the power as the old out-dated technology! I wouldn't suggest putting on forced induction, with any stock parts, but that's just me! Also not mentioned, NOS, which is for those cars that almost have enough room for a bottle of mountain dew to fit in it! LMOA!!!!

  • Ford had no issue with putting a S/C on the stock 5.4 3v engine in the F150. Their S/C actually came with a powertrain warrenty of 3 years/30,000 miles. Those engines were built pretty strong out of the factory.

  • What about stroker cranks? Will there be room?

  • @carcajouxx uhhh the 2011 GT350 has the 5.0 and its supercharged from the factory.. so if shelby is putting a supercharger on it I'm sure its safe

  • for once a Variable cam mustang hip hip HORAAA

  • Dang! It sounded like it was gonna peak at around 5000 rpm but it just kept going! Now thats an engine!

  • Now I have to find a buyer for my 2010..lol

  • That bag girl hit 7,000

  • Wow even out of the car, this thing looks great, very robust and advanced...

  • 7k redline, probably not, maybe like 6600 or so for durability reasons, but we shall see

  • Lol, less than 100hp per liter. American car engineers are the worst.

  • i want this new 5.0 in my 86!!!

  • hey that was done in the room next to mine i work in the dyno lab to bad they were just motoring it,they never turned the injectors on

  • wow all the trolls in the comments. hating on a car they know they cant afford.

  • its a beast at 5500rpms! anything above DAAAAMN!!

  • That engine is quiet. . I like it. Touch it while its running xD lol.

  • the 4.6 was a tenth, a tenth! of a second slower than the ss. Now they have this, the cheap made over priced competition is done. lol

  • Hooooooo leeeeeeeeee s#!t 7000rpm in a muscle car. Looks like the muscle car wars just got a little more interesting

  • i want more 2011 5.0 video's allready! common! gimme gimme gimme!! :D

  • is there any chance i can put one of those 5.0 engines into my 06' gt? i know it would be easier to just buy a 2011 5.0 but i just dont like that new model =\

  • 2800 to 4000RPMs sounds 4v sweeet. Way to go Ford!

  • woohoo! 7000rpm!!! i wanna see the charts... no point in just looking at the rpm...

  • this thing need pretty valve covers, single blade throttle body, manley rods and pistons, headers, and about 20 psi of boost. power it by whipple and ford would not be able to keep them on the lot.

  • welcome back 5.0 you were surely missed!

  • You could put 20,000 into just about anything to beat anything.

  • The price on the 5.0?

  • The mustang sucks. I could put $20,000 into a ford escort and smoke the mustang. Problem is I still have a ford escort.

  • ricer ricer

  • @sled4u It would still be an Escort.

  • dude, u can put 20,000 into any car and will will be super fast. this mustand will willl be faster then current ss camaro. the 2010 mustang is already right behind it. 0-60 in 4.9 1/4 mile in 13.5 and the camaro does 0-60 in 4.6 and 1/4 mile in 13.3 and the camaro has almost 100 more horse power. the new 302 should have around 400 hp easy.

  • I could put 10,000 in a old Foxbody and smoke it easy ricer's suck good for one thing only GPM and V8's will beat that too than ricer's will be useless ha ha :P

  • @sled4u lets put 20k in a mustang and put 20k in the escort and see who wins...

  • @sled4u

    haha true :p

  • @sled4u

You can put 20,000$ into any junked chassis and make it run 10's moron.

  • What kind of sad comment is this? Why pay $20,100(including the price of the car), into an Escort? This is a mute point, as far as I'm concerned!

  • sweet 7000rpm redline

  • I doubt that was the redline. Remember this is a preliminary dyno test. I'm betting it was past the redline at 6,300 or 6,500, and they were just testing the limits. Ford has said, however, that the engine is meant to keep high revs for long periods of time, for track days.

  • Not bad. I'm really digging the headers, too.

  • Exelente ! ;gracias ,desde argentina.

  • at least THIS 5.0 looks half-decent.

  • The old ones look better.

  • I want to see the car on the dyno. Only then will I pull the trigger

  • Nice sound !!!

  • hoooooo!!!!! nearly 7000 rpm!!!

    should be a good motor!

  • Ford rocks thecompetition, and doing it the SMART way.

No need to add huge displacement

or clunky old world pushrods.great job by Ford!

BTW: Bring the Aussie Falcons here to the States!

  • The 2011 Mustang V6 is a new design 3.7L that now makes 305 HP and gets 30 mpg. A nice compliment to the 5.0. Ford had planned to put the 5.0 and the 3.7 into the Mustang last year (before the intro of the Camaro to steal some of its thunder) but a pesky little thing like a bad economy and no cash flow delayed it.

  • cannot wait to hear it with flowmasters and an x-pipe. going to look SWEET next to my 89 notchback

  • nice, but where's the body ? :P

  • That 5.0 badging is going to give adversaries second thoughts about an old school stop light drag race!

  • bye bye slowmaro!! hello foxy 5.0!!

  • can't wait to see this perform against the hpe550/650 camaro (henessey performance)

  • Who negged this? He didn't say anything negative about the Mustang. I too can't wait to see this. BTW Dominic, I can't wait to see the 550/650 Camaro go against the new GT500. Which is a better comparison.

  • glad to see the 5.0 back but its a shame they only did it because the chevy camaro came out the box and whooped the mustangs ass. the v6 camaro has 304 hp and the Mustang v8 has 310, only 6 more. The mustangs v6 has also remained unchanged for 13 years! The ss camaro beasts the gt with 422 hp. I wish ford would have found the initiative to better the car sooner. but otherwise happy to see it!

  • haha so true camaro is gonna keep getting better from here on out, the stang only has so far to go

  • @goooosa lmao what!? lol u mean chevy only has so far to go. ford has bn putting out about the same horse power as chevy when chevy is using bigger engines. so when chevy runs out of cubes the mustang will be pushing the same horsepower with more cubes still to go!! lol good try though.

  • exactly i complained to the ford company through email numerous times. yeah it took the 2010 camaro for ford to give a good effort. 2010 is going to be a rough year but the 5.0 will put an end to that in late 2010. my opinion they could at least put a 5.0 in the 08 bullitts.

  • @GT4Guy18

There is also the few hundred pounds of weight difference with the 2010's. Apparently, I heard this new 5.0 will weigh around 4000 pounds with the 6 speed auto, but I've seen a Ford media press release form stating around 3750 est........and that it should be only 10 pounds heavier than the 2010. We'll see I guess.

Chevy has definitely made a winner, but Ford has stepped up, which will make this battle a lot harder for them. I'm leaning towards the Mustang.

  • Bah!

Change the damn body style for the new 5.0!!!!

  • Cool dyno queen, Ford.

  • Ferrari 458 Italia

    4,5 liters

    570 hp

    10000 rpm red line.

I'm sorry but Ferrari wins at all !!!

  • 1. its $300,000

    2. you're an idiot

  • It's 9000rpm redline. And for 400k it better beat a mustang GT

  • ima buy one

    then supercharge taht shittt

    go ford!

  • You can sharpen an axe on that. Unfortunately the metal would all be gone.

  • its about time.....

  • This was really tiring to watch.. These Ford/GM type V8 are so heavy, old design and should only be used to towing boats in truth. This thing does not want to rev and sounded to me like a donkey. Sorry to Ford fans but Italian, Jap, German race type high rev smaller engines is where the fun's at.

  • there's no replacement for displacement

  • They also cost WAY MORE....doesnt matter how good it is if I cant afford it lol

  • Anyone know what the bore and stroke is?

  • Oh god I hope the headers aren't that short on the production model. This beast will NEED some long tubes.

  • 7K isnt a lot anymore, got an engine builder near were I work that makes V8's that go to 10K.

  • How long before they fall apart.

  • They're Bullet Proof

  • about 50 years

  • @bugattiferraripagani

They will fall apart when you own one of the cars on your screen name.

  • i would say a long time, the last 5.0s came stock with forged pistons and last I check there are still alot of stock 5.0s still running and for sale everywhere.

  • Usually after a Audi or FIAT has hit the junkyard

  • Till we beat everyone

  • i think we should put a blower on it

  • 5.0L

    400 Horses

    7k redline

Wow ford.... its almost like I'm really in 1999 again! Glad to see you guys finally caught up!

  • @LeeboJackson

When has a Factory chevy engine hit 7000, knothead.

  • there weren't 5's back in 99, man.

  • 400 horses with 5.0l. sounds pretty nice. chevy needs 6.2l's to get 426 horses.. wonder how much horse ford would get with a 6.2l? well over 500..

  • hey i totally agree with you!!! smaller FORD motors put out MORE horse power (way more)than the same size CHEVROLET... that is why they need bigger motors to get the same amount of horse power...got a mag of crate motors and it lists the hp.... chevys are weak i like both as long as they are older models..that motor is going to be bad ass chevys are going to drop their oil pans skeered when it reves up at a stop light

  • i heard the 2011 shelbys will start to use the 6.2L cause this 5.0 definitely closes the gap. put an eco boost twin turbo in that 5.0 then u got a car that stands toe to toe with the cobras if not i feel they can pull off a victory. the tauras gets 265 hp with out that twin eco boost it will get like 150 hp maybe less.

  • The compression is 11:0-1.

You'd have to change the compression to get big numbers out of this car with FI.

  • i thought the taurus was 365 hp?

  • i thought 365, could be wrong though

  • @badlandsracing

    411hp !!!

  • tauras gets 350,ish hp

  • @bigbadmenehune

The future Shelby's won't be using either the 6.2 or a twin turbo 5.0. It's already been disclosed by Ford reps that neither setup will physically fit into the Mustang enginebay. The GT500 will either be getting an aluminum block version of the current 5.4........or a supercharged 4V 5.0.

  • @razorfett147 the GT's are gonna only have 3V heads?

  • @razorfett147 aluminum block 5.4 is what the gt500 will get .giving the gt500 a 5.0 will put it to close the mustang gt.

  • @razorfett147

I'm sure you've heard but for others, razor is spot on. The 2011 Shelby GT500 has an aluminum block 5.4L engine as opposed to the previous cast-iron. It also lost around 100lbs of weight, which is good news for any Mustang fan.

  • @airsoftg0d

Yea but the ford has to spin to 7k to get the 400 while the chevy puts out 426 at only 5900 RPM. I wonder how much hp chevy could get out of their engine if they built it to peak at 7k.

Oh and I do like this new mustang. If only they took all the plastic crap off the engine.

  • They still need a decent chassis to shove it into.

Something along the line of the AC cobra, just 4 seater and not convertible.

  • have you driven a 2010?

  • turn much brah

  • what happened to torque being higher then hp?

  • Ever Since 1996 when ford went SOHC 4.6L I stopped caring for new cars. Not even the 3v 4.6 interested me. I was a fan of the DOHC 4.6L and Blown DOHC 4.6L, but this 32v DOHC 5.0L would be something I would be Proud to own! Ford > GM/Dodge

  • true but 96-04 cobras were DOHC

  • ford stopped putting the 5.0 into mustangs in 1995.. '94 was the new body of mustangs after foxbody's, and the last year of the beloved 5.0

  • Drops power at 6500.

  • Fail. It peaks power at 7000 rpms.

  • the mustang is a ponycar so let;s compare it to another ponycar, not a sports car. especially one known to be driven by old men with midlife crises. This new 5.0 will be kicking camaro butt.

  • bigworm76, i totally agree with you! but all the chevy guys, no matter what will scream Z28. which isnt going to happen again.

  • From about 2500 up....saweeeeet music!

    Bring it on!

  • 7000 rpm!

  • why remake a 5 liter. the new challenger is a 6.1 hemi.

  • The challenger's 6.1 makes 13 hp more than the mustang's 5.0, so what. The new mustang will walk it with no problem.

  • Bigger is not always better.

  • In this case it will be.

  • not in this case, the 5.0 has 40 years of development and experience, for it to finally be built as a DOHC motor is incredible

  • this competes with the r/t, the srt8 goes up against the shelby gt500 with 540 hp

  • the 2010 gt beats the srt8 so the srt8 is no competition to this new beast.

  • hell ya 5.0 all the way, 90' GT 5.0 all the way is what i roll classic 50!!

  • YES! Reserecting the best engine ever!

  • I just finished dancing around my chair. Welcome back 5.0!!! you've been missed...

  • The DOHC 4.6 in the 96-01 Cobras redlined at 7K too didnt they?

Awesome engine though and it sounds great. Looking forward to them hitting the streets.

  • welcome back!

  • 6900 and climbing!!!

  • 2011 is going to be a good year for Ford to kill their competition

  • Wait... I heard somewhere else the new 5.0's were gonna get 450hp, but this description says 412.

    Which is it?

  • 412hp and 390fl.tq

  • 412

  • Its gonna get better gas mileage than the 2010 Mustang by 3 miles.

  • as a M3 fan this saddens me. More HP, about 100+ more pounds of torque for less than half the M3's base price.

  • Ford tested the Mustang and beat the M3 around Gingerman raceway btw

  • Nice boat anchor.

  • Nice! Why did I get kinda scared watching that? lol.

    ~SoCal Ford from facebook

  • Chevy won't be doing much for 2011, but may in 2012. Not like it matters. The 2011 will be in the 12's for a 1/4 mile run easily. Faster than the 427 HP SS1/SS2 Camaro and handling far better, even with the solid rear.

NawafLol: Fuel economy for the 2011 is better than the 2010.

  • I got the goosebumps at about 4000 RPM on up. Oh I want you, Mustang.

  • Looks like it has a decent set of exhaust manifolds on it stock. Assuming that those will be the ones used in the mustang

  • Can't wait to experience this new Hemi killer in person!

  • Sounds Great!

  • Whoa! I was blown away. I'm glad it's back.

  • sweet...

  • About time! F off camaro!

  • WOOO!!! 5.0's are beasts

glad to see there comin back!

  • nice sound

  • YES!

  • Yay 5.0 is back baby !

but i don't know if it was really fuel economy !

i think time well tell !

  • The sound is music in my ears!

  • lets see Chevy try 7k

  • C6 Z06 revs to 7k

    C4 ZR1 revs > 7k

Both will walk this mustang, get your facts straight...

  • @fkumro The performance of a car isn't all about the redline, Get YOUR facts straight.

  • They're also entirely different segments of cars. I mean, I don't know who you're responding to, and if they said a mustang would take any upper trim Corvette, they're smokin' crack, but pony car =/= high end sports car.

  • @fkumro Yeah the c6 Z06 will beat the Mustang but look at the price difference idiot. If you took the extra $20,000 and dropped it into the Mustang, I bet you could get the Mustang to slaughter the

    Z06.

  • @fkumro

    zo6, 505 hp @ 6300

zo6, $90,000 with tax and license

    DUMBASS!

  • @YTBYlover

The LS3 in the Camaro has a red line of 6600 RPM which is close enough... The LS7 in the Z06 Corvette has a red line of 7000 RPM...

  • @YTBYlover

    LS7 Red Line = 7,000 RPM...

  • First of all redline doesn't matter. The MEP of this engine most likely is in the 4500 to 5700 rpm range. Second of all the Corvette Z06 and ZR1 are in a different class than this Mustang and both are at least 30k more in price. Oh and if you don't know what MEP means than you shouldn't even be debating about these cars. The Mustang also is lighter than the SS Camaro which means its power to weight ratio should be the same or better. Bang for your buck I would buy this car. Looks better too.
