Those in power kiss the asses of the religious communities simply because they are the ones who put them in office, i.e., the US elected officials pander to the Christians because about 80% of the US electorate claims belief in a Christian god.

@XsaviorofthebrokenX I dunno, maybe you misspoke or I misunderstood your meaning, but in your reply to Masakan you said "Most christians aren't as bad as those in power paint them to be" implying that they (the elected officials) don't think highly of religion and openly admit this. My point was that this would be political suicide in a country like the US considering the vast majority of the populous who elected the officials are staunch Christians.

Also, the famous TV preachers and religious broadcasters were grouped in there. I'm sorry I wasn't clearer.

But I would have to argue that those followers that supposedly aren't as bad as the leaders could be considered just as guilty for doing almost nothing to banish/excommunicate/whatever. I understand, most of them do nothing from a state of pure disbelief. "He would NEVER do such a thing! He must have been framed!" That's just a simple case of denial. And doing nothing in the face of an immoral/evil act is the same as condoning it.

@maulhoik Not really, most of the Christian Values other than being against homosexuality are positive. If more people lived by the 10 commandments, the world would be a much better place whether they believed there is a higher power or not.
