Really cool learning about the Mighty Mite. A nice, archaic piece. It may of been made in the Fifties but it has 1930s' look all over it with its brass & copper alloy pieces on it.
That's how you primed them, that's a tillotson carb, same as what's on my Viking, Mine has a rod that goes from the needle to the float rod that you pushed to prime the carb, when you twist the knob all the way left it primes the carb to start- same thing.
birks95 Mine is a 51,52 or 53 3hp, don't know about a metal plunger water pump, mine has a rotor style pump. If you are talking about the carb, when you prime it , the prime rod pushes down on the float rod which allows fuel to flow into the carb throat. When you stop priming, the float raises the rod back up and stops the fuel from flowing. Pretty simple design.
Nifty - love how small it is!
