However, it has been close enough and it has produced a lot of prosperity. Whenever Communism is tried, not only does the system fail and the economy collapse, but millions of people die. You can't just continue to see hundreds of million die, just to try to see if you can get this system right.

The other man who wanted it, Stalin, was quite jealous. After Lenin died suddenly, Stalin used power and force to demotivate Trotsky and intimidate him. Stalin had more muscle behind him and was able to take power while exiling Trotsky. If Trotsky had taken power instead of Stalin, you would have seen a different USSR.

He used all the money and resources to militarize the country and gave the means of production to the state leaving the people high and dry. His own selfish ideology was called Stalinism and many non Stalinists Communists were arrested for treason and executed. That's right. Many Communists opposed Stalin's rule and died for it.

Since many other so called Communist countries after the USSR were influenced and even under control of the USSR, many of them couldn't use traditional Marxism and start a workers state. The USSR's influence is the reason why you have never seen a true Communist country in history.

Russia being a monarchy before trying to radically change it's political, economic and social system overnight may not have hurt it in the short term, but in the long term it proved to be a failure. The CPUSA is reformist and no longer revolutionary comrade. Check out the Party for Socialism and Liberation. They are truly marxist-leninist and they dont support democrats or anything reformist. China, Soviet Russia, Cuba, etc. were all Socialist at one point but deteriorated into State Capitalism where the government controls the means of production.

Indeed, we have seen true communism, or at least the closest mankind can get to true communism. FA Hayek explained that communism requires a central government to distribute the means. Therefore, a stateless communist society is impossible logically. So, the soviet union and China were both as close to youre communist society as mankind will ever get... I hope you liked it...

@aaasssfffdddiii Who says there needs to be a government to spread the wealth? Worker enclaves and community democracies are the answer to the problem you addressed. Our government, like the USSR and China, is connected by the few and powerful. A true communist society would make(or at least try) to make everyone useful. It is connected by the people. A good way to put it is through this Lenin quote "Any cook should be able to run the country."

A lot of people like to claim that Nazi Germany was Communist because they had "Socialist in NSDAP" but I see no one claiming China to be a Republic since they have "Republic in PRC". I don't think there is a be all to end all governing system.

@MasterAdam100 You can't just dismiss all the failures of communism as it not being tried right. It has been tried MANY times. Capitalism, for example, has never really been tried completely right. However, it has been close enough and it has produced a lot of prosperity. Whenever Communism is tried, not only does the system fail and the economy collapse, but millions of people die. You can't just continue to see hundreds of million die, just to try to see if you can get this system right.

Capitalism doesn't own money, it doesn't own buying and selling and it certainly doesn't own technology. And who said a Capitalist society can't do bad things? Capitalism does not enslave anyone. It sets them free to pursue their own industry and work hard. So you couldnt use something against capitalism that isnt true. BTW, socialism doesnt work either. Even social democracy has failed to generate economic prosperity.

How can a country be a Communist country if it doesn't even follow Communist methods? Simply draping your society in Communist imagery is not enough and you can certainly be dishonest about how you define your political system. @aaasssfffdddiii Before Lenin died, the Soviet Union was actually doing quite well. Before he died, he already expressed interest at Trotsky being his successor. The other man who wanted it, Stalin, was quite jealous. After Lenin died suddenly, Stalin used power and force to demotivate Trotsky and intimidate him. Stalin had more muscle behind him and was able to take power while exiling Trotsky. If Trotsky had taken power instead of Stalin, you would have seen a different USSR.

@aaasssfffdddiii Stalin's ideology was not in line with Lenin's social progress of restarting the country after the failures of the monarchy. He used all the money and resources to militarize the country and gave the means of production to the state leaving the people high and dry. His own selfish ideology was called Stalinism and many non Stalinists Communists were arrested for treason and executed. That's right. Many Communists opposed Stalin's rule and died for it.

There was no Marxism and Socialism was in a totalitarian state instead of an economic state. Since many other so called Communist countries after the USSR were influenced and even under control of the USSR, many of them couldn't use traditional Marxism and start a workers state. The USSR's influence is the reason why you have never seen a true Communist country in history.

But some Communist extremist certainly doesn't mean that everyone one of them is bad. No system is safe from being misused. Not a single one. Some are misused more than others. Russia being a monarchy before trying to radically change it's political, economic and social system overnight may not have hurt it in the short term, but in the long term it proved to be a failure. Half the population was for it and half against it. That breeds resentment. .

Revolution always involved violence but the revolutionaries can be nonviolent. Like you said as president he is pretty much an enemy of communism. So he is better than McCain and there is potential or at least was for him to do some good. What we need to do is put pressure on Obama let him know his reelection is not guaranteed. To be realistic the CPUSA is small and struggling against pervasive anti communism. Endorsing Obama was the only logical move they could make

There needs to be a number of Communist/Socialist political parties. And there needs to be a number of strategies to achieve socialism. Some parties are revolutionary, that's good, some parties are reformist, that's good too.
As for Obama...he's an imperialist just like Bush. A smarter Imperialist? yes. But that just means he'll run the empire less foolishly. This is not bad for those of us who live here, but we shouldn't mistake him for a hero.

The CPUSA is reformist and no longer revolutionary comrade. Check out the Party for Socialism and Liberation. They are truly marxist-leninist and they dont support democrats or anything reformist. We are also very active and we almost match CPUSA membership. You also dont have to pay any fees. We work our way through activism. We also have a lot of CPUSA defectors.
