I love this song, heard over 45 years ago . Yes I am a Scot ,with a clan name and can trace My family back to 1400 . But I am also British, in my family history ,we fought on both sides. I do wish people stop this Jacobite rubbish . Learn our history, the Lowlands of Scotland are cover with graves of fellow Scots,Murderd by ' Jacobites' . Jacobites were as good or as bad as anyone else . To Scots who live outside of Scotland . Stop this romantic tripe about Clans & Jacobitism .
as a Scottish nationalist, your probably fully aware about the historic in accuracies surrounding much of Scotlands proud history and culture. For instance did the Romans build Hadrian's wall, to show the Scots how strong the empire was, or to keep all the hereditary ugly Scots out of the empire. William Where's yer trooosers Wallace, well we wont get started on the peasant. Haggis, well ancient Romans were the first people to be know to make products like this. hahaha
@mrmusclew They built that wall to as to repel the assaults of enemies, as Septimus Serverus described it. They were tired of being ambushed and slaughtered in their own territory, so they built a wall to keep the Scots out.
It was destroyed three times.
There were English recipes for Haggesse.
At least we have original culture and inventions. Take a peek in at the British Museum. Because England doesn't have a culture, you've been forced to steal from everyone else. And now you rubbish us?
The time of the jacobites/king over the water is long over. I'm not racist or xenophopic, nazi or nationalist. The sad truth is that the Celtic tradition in Scotland (born and raised) is becoming a gimmic to lure tourists/settlers. My own generation are happy to breed and watch the telly (proportionally), pass on no more wisdom than what you can "get away with". Ive lived in Ireland, a proud and true Celtic culture. I'm vaguely sad We instead helped the British empire conquer the world.
@Kedfagan There's still hope. And the SNP isn't xenophobic or racist. The first Muslim MSP was a member of the SNP.
Put "Bashir Ahmad MSP" into Google.
The highlands and islands are full of Gaelic culture.

I've been looking, and I havent found Irish teenagers singing in Irish. If you really care why Irish might die and Gaidhlig will live, send me a message.
it doesnt matter where you come from, this song and our national treasures singing it are perfection and i defy anyone not to be moved by it. Thank you for the post
Im not a Scottish Nationalist, I aint even Scottish. I'm English descended from Irish folk. When I was a kid I played the bagpipes and my teacher was a Scot. He was ex-army he was in the film "waterloo", never will I forget you Alec! God bless Scotland!!
I can see by hearing this song and seeing some of these pictures why the Scots were drawn in such huge numbers to the wildness and majesty of Canada. Some of those shots remind be a bit of the rockies, and I'll bet that the first Scotsmen who saw them had their hearts skip a beat had they roved in the mountains of Caledonia before! Awesome duo and awesome music.
Ill-starred now the brave, did no vision foreboding Tell you that fate had forsaken our cause? Yet were you destined to die at Culloden Though victory crowned not your fall with applause Yet were you happy in death's earthly slumber To sleep wi' your clan in the caves of Braemar The pibroch resounds to the piper's loud number Your deeds to the echoes of wild Lochnagar Brave Caledonia, dear are thy mountains I sigh for the valley o' dark Lochnagar time to unite jacobites
I am privileged to be able to look at Lochnagar every day from my front door. It always looks wild and majestic and sometimes wild and terrible. This song (the lyrics by Byron)certainly does it justice and no-one has done it better than The Corries.
this goes straight to my heart
