An excellent video shot in what seems to be pretty poor lighting conditions. Thats a violent wheel slip just after she goes out of sight at Entwistle. Many thanks.
@5705Seahorse Thanks for the kind comment. It was a very damp and dismal day and the railhead condition would have been pretty bad. Just round the corner at Entwistle is a tunnel which would have been damp and slippy as well but it soounds to me as if the slip was before entering the tunnel. The driver seemed to catch the slip pretty quickly thank goodness. Chris
Thank you for your comments. Sadly I can spot more faults than you ever will which is why I get so frustrated. I haven't yet produced a faultless video. I keep hoping practice will make perfect but I'm probably too old to get a lot better. Please bear in mind that some faults may be unavoidable to an amateur like me - e.g. too much light sky and exhaust makes the rest of the picture too dark and some frames may seem wrong but are done like that to keep something unattractive out of view. Chris
I saw no faults.I liked it all, especially the end of the first clip when the train reappears going around the S bend. Nice to see the lady in red too.
Nice one, despite the weather. First and last scenes the best. I guess you had a few problems at Giggleswick. Personally, I'd have cut that location, at least from the internet version. At Broughton, you could have left the camera alone - no zoom, no wobble. Kingsfold - bit of a long wait, but I was watching without sound...
Thanks for bothering with the comments. Can't argue with any of them especially about Giggleswick - should have left it out. (Ground was so waterlogged and on a steep slope so kept losing my footing while panning.) Trouble is if I cut out all the rubbish I'm not left with much. I keep planning, trying and then messing it up! Chris
Editing is the hardest part, and I'm not good at taking my own advice. Some of my DVDs are too patchy. For YouTube, though, you can be ruthless. If it's not worth at least 4 stars, leave it out. I think it's better to show 1min of the best shot of the day than 5 mins of mixed ability shots. The viewer goes away thinking "wow, what a master shot". I try to ask myself "would Linesider or PSOV keep that in?"
Good work Chris. I've been down at the WSR for the Gala. It was a total wash out...well almost. I manage to slavage one semi-glint shot on the very last train! Interesting to see 6201 doubleheading. She'll be down at my end in a couple of weeks. That will be good to see.
Thanks David. I'm quite fond of Lizzie so look after her well and we'll happily have her back as soon as possible please. I've got a lot of other people's videos to watch - I'll get around to yours shortly. Chris
another god film again. don't like the new whistle they've put on it's not right. i've put 3 new films on this weekend and hoping to put 76079 on in the next day or so. spoke to some1 who says duchess of hamilton has got a boiler ordered and will go on mainline. so that could be good to film
Thanks Louisa, I'll look forward to that 76079 film. Perhaps the whistle will be changed back before too long. The last I heard, D of Hamilton was being re-streamlined to look the same as she did when originally built. I have heard nothing of a new boiler or an overhaul. It would be good if you are right. Chris
Cracking little loco and well maintained. You have to give credit to Mr. Riley and his workshop, the support crew and the footplate crew. What would we do without these guys (and girls)? Chris
As WaltonSpotter has remarked it was a positioning move though strange to see 6201 on the front. Rumour has it that as Lizzie approached Carnforth on her last tour she developed a "hot" rod bearing/bush. This has been repaired and this opportunity was used to get her back home.
And yes, Mr. Riley has changed the whistle on the Pocket Rocket. Chris

I saw plenty of faults - too much bottom - interesting steam chopped off the top - tilting - jerky zooming - poor framing.

@robinghood As someone with no vidoes to his name I think you have a cheek being so critical of Chris's work.

76079 can manage alright without that lump of stanier steaming scrap iron to push aswell

Not a fan of Lizzie then? Chris

not really, I think 76079 is amazing, and it's a pity it's hidden behind in the shot.

Thank you sir - I'd be pleased to be half as good as the late Mr. Handford. Certainly makes a smashing noise on a climb like this. Chris

Lizzie was only put on for a positioning move to get her back to the ELR.
Thanks for sharing.

A little unsual for 6201 to doublehead! Plus 76079 sounds like its changed its whistle!
