Kondrashin was a conducting giant . The soloists .. well what can one say. Long after that despicable butcher Stalins soul have been devoured by maggots the souls of these three gentlemen will sing with the angels.
With the exception of a very few (Elman comes to mind), Oistrakh has the most beautiful and round tone I have ever heard, no matter at what position he plays. I just wish he did not play so emotionally conservative, especially when Brahms has so much to offer to the heart.
I LOVE this.... I have forgotten how much I enjoy these two performers... I loved them when I was a kid. They were my heros... then came Yo Yo and and G Kremer and I sort of forgot these guys.... Thanks so much for the revisit!!!!
so beautiful!!!!
