Farmers would rather grow a resource than get subsidies NOT to grow things...Entrepreneurs are waiting to start new "green" industries...Americans need to get off the oil tit and start producing fuel that we can not only use but export..

@scottbogie With that extra money you save, you can build the factory, or start a small business. That is the point. Having the government try to create jobs for you is just pissing your money away. Competing ANYTHING makes something stronger. Right now the US has a monopoly on money due to the fact that it is the reserve to ALL of the central banks. There is nothing competing with it. So, the more you print the less it's worth. Introduce a competing currency and you would most likely wipe out the dollar because there is so much of it that it would be deemed worthless....more so than it already is.

@akwelding - Back when there was hard money, when people felt nervous about paper money and would trade their paper in for hard money. By allowing competing currencies it would force the dollar to have to stay strong and not follow a policy of devaluation because people would just start holding a competing currency in order to stay ahead of inflation. This would force the hand of congress to cut and not spend endlessly. If you want to hold the currency printed by your gov't, you are free to.
