@jaqzzzz I know you posted nearly a year ago. In case you see this I just wanted to ask, what are you trying to prove with your comment? For one that quote is subjective, especially since Einstein was considered a deist not a christian. Also, what the hell does it matter if Einstein believed in a god? Does that make his scientific findings any less valid? Does a Christian that thinks evolution is true prove that the christian god doesn't exist?
well the evolution theory has never discarded the existence of the soul think of it in this way: separate the components of any machine, once they are apart they no longer form a single engine, but the result of said union, particulary in us humans, our emotions, experiences and thoughts are non-material, yet they're real, and that is what i think the soul is.
I have liked to think for some time now that the soul or spirit are not merely the essence of what we are as individuals or as a species, but more an intuitive awareness of things which has increased its depths of resolution as our minds have become more aware as we have evolved. There would appear to be one caveat for it's growth - wisdom born out of experiences of reality. It's not only good for us as individuals -it's essential for us all.I hope it is not wasted through physical death.
@stratocaster539 : I got a crazy theory about reality, somehow similar to your concept of soul, It crossed my mind that nothing in this world could be considered as a "single unit", meaning there's more than one component or part , we have numbers and math to describe and understand reality, yet ; numbers function as concepts as they cuantify objects, but objects, aren't single "blocks", but the sum of all the parts, (same for the soul)
I might be wrong, but I'd like to hear your opinion.
Im sorry, School Violence? You seriously believe that atheists participate in school violence more than christians. I went to a lutheran school for three years and i can tell you that belief in god does little to quell violence in schools or elsewhere. Racism? seriously was it not the pope that told Martin Luther King to shut up and stop preaching equality. The time that churches have had the highest attendance rates have been the times that racism in this country have been at their peak.
When people ruled based on religious doctorine millions were slaughtered like Rome, Syria, The Spanish Inquisition, The subjuqation of Africa by europeans, etc note we seperate church and state like many respectable countrys around the planet because religion leads to chaos. and no u dont have to believe one or the other it is perfectly okay to be on the fence and question both sides
To understand this video, we must define supernatural.
How I define it:
Supernatural is something unexplainable since it exists outside our knowledge.
So supernatural would depend on which perspective you see it from. If a creator exists, is there any reason that the creator is not a part of a natural development?
A soul. An afterlife perhaps? What if we link a soul to life. Since we do not how life is, we do not know how offspring just catch that spark to exist and think.
2) The full cap 'NO' and all the !! suggests a rather emotive response. Have you been religiously wounded, that is not good. But your personal experiences of religion that make you an 'ex-Christian' in no way serve to impact the truth claims of Christianity, nor does it lend to support for your now different worldview. If anything your emotion would tend to suggest a reduced propensity to consider evidence in a remotely objective manner.
The universe is not the hallmark of the Christian God. Why are you a Christian? Probably because you grew up in a Christian culture, if you were born in Islamabad you would probably be a muslim and so on. Religion is all experince and has nothing to do with evidence because there is none that's why it's called "faith."
I listed a few myths, one myth was that it has never been observed, now it may have never been observed fully because that would be impossible (macroevolution) but what has been observed are the transitional fossils.
Absolutely. There are many transitional forms and the evidence is there in the form of skeletal remans and fossils. Sorry if I misunderstood you originally.
Deism is so much better than any other type of belief, it's more realistic. If there is a God, i can't see it answering our prayers or judging people for what they have done. I don't think there is a God but if there is a God and an afterlife i think beings would be evaluated on what they have done with their life and to others. I just don't understand why God hides, maybe the universe is a system of checks and balances where God doesn't want to place control over us.
1) To say "There is NO Biblical God, I lean towards deism, something created this place but it never spoke to man and vice versa. We are on our own here is an exclusive truth claim. Such a claim is just as politically incorrect as Christians, or Atheists, making their own exclusive truth claims. As a Deist, youve made a claim to superior knowledge and therefore youre required to make sound arguments (Not ad honiem) in support of it..sorry but it cuts both ways mate.
3) To the Bible. Far too many people in 21st century, seem to (quite astonishingly so) fail to understand that a) the Bible was not conveniently written in English b) is not a single book.
4) Whether you feel Jesus Christ was God or not does not invalidate the substantial body of scholarly evidence supporting his existence and his extraordinary deeds as described in the NT. Various other sources including 1st century Roman and Jewish historians (some very hostile to Christianity) also wrote about such a man, many of it eyewitness testimony, and these sources ensure the Bible passes the test of Enemy Attestation. This is powerful evidence used in court rooms daily.
I know there is much more evidence than i had already given. It was a short video, but many assume that macroevolution cannot be proven but that is not true.
Indeed there is no known mechanism that would prevent small changes (microevolution) from ultimately resulting in macroevolution over time.
Yes and as said. Good examples of macroevolution (speciation) exists.
Creationists must also account for the fact that we have approximately 10 million species today and we find a fraction of that in sedimentary layers. So something must be adding new species :)
Yes I agree with your comments. I think we do have some kind of spirit that moves on to something else and what we do here will effect it. Nobody is an expert at this topic, but if there's a belief in anything, Deism makes the most logical sense. Forget Religion completely. There may be nothing and when your dead, your dead. But the universe is too miraculous of a place and life is a such a precious gift for it to be completely random.
Seems the Bible got it wrong from the start. The sun was created before the earth.
And as a christian you should not embrace ignorance about the history of the world.
Its bad enough already.
It is a damn tragedy that after more than five years of combat and thousands U.S. military deaths in Iraq, nearly two-thirds of Americans aged 18 to 24 still cannot find Iraq on a map.

Different education:
CREATION => Meaning of Life, Standards, Marriage, Laws, God's Word
EVOLUTION => Abortion, School Violence, Racism, Pornography, Homosexual Behavior, Lawlessness, Man's Opinion
It is NEVER Religion vs. Science; it is Religion vs. Religion. Both Creation and Evolution are religion, you have to BELIEVE either one.

You have a strange view on the teachings of evolution. Do you mind basing it on something more than your own claim?

Whoever put this video together obviously has no understanding of evolution by natural selection whatsoever.

Please elaborate.

I may have misunderstood you but didn't you say that evolution isn't happening due to the fact that scientists have never witnessed it?
You cannot witness evolution happening over the course one one lifetime because it hapens so slowly.

I'm an ex-christian. I never believed anything the church told me. I was forced to believe it through parents, teachers, priests etc...
How anyone can believe any holy book fairytale is beyond what my brain can comprehend.
The faithful believe the story because they want to!!!!

And what about the contradictions, mass murder by God, Jesus's pathological lying, and evil behavior by so called loving religious figures.
Scjrd91 3 years ago
Nice video.
"Evolution has never been observed" could need some propping up though. There is a lot more species where you can follow the morphologies.
Also a google for "observed instances of speciation" for a list of plants and animals that have become new species and been documented.
More evidence of evolution is that we have inactive reptilian DNA. As would be expected from an evolutionary process.
